Template:Kart-infobox The Slim tires are a set of unlockable tires in Mario Kart 7, while being available by default in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Overview
Mario Kart 7
The Slim tires are, in a way, a less extreme version of the Roller tires. They provide a small boost to acceleration and a better one to handling (tied with the Wood and the Mushroom tires) while hindering speed, weight and off-road. The Slim, Wood, and Roller tires are also the only tires to offer a positive sea handling boost, but the Slim tires do not affect the sea speed stat, and unlike the Roller tires, the Slim tires provide a high boost to drift while having one of the lowest mini turbo stats
Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
The Slim tires return in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, where they look slightly different from their appearance in Mario Kart 7 and are available right from the start. Their stat distribution is also different from Mario Kart 7 in that they boost speed and handling at the expense of some acceleration and traction. There is a variant of the Slim tires called the Crimson Slim tires that also appear in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They share stats with the Crimson Slim and the Triforce Tires that come with the The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8 DLC pack.
CPU players tend to only use these tires whenever they are using the Standard Bike; this applies to all medium-sized characters, the lightweight Larry and Wendy, and the heavyweight Link. However, a CPU-controlled Luigi will also use these tires alongside the Mach 8 kart body. Likewise, a CPU-controlled Mario will use these tires whenever he is using the Comet bike body. Additionally, a CPU Waluigi will occasionally pair the Standard Bike with Slim tires.
In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Slim tires have slightly different stats, and while they still have the same stats as the Crimson Slim tires, they now share their stats with the Wood tires instead of the Triforce Tires.
Mario Kart Tour
Slim tires return in Mario Kart Tour on several karts, such as the Bruiser, Yellow Taxi, Mach 8, Landship, and Platinum Taxi. On the Yellow Taxi, Bruiser, and Platinum Taxi, they have their Mario Kart 7 appearance, while on the Mach 8 and Landship, they have their Mario Kart 8 appearance.
