Shot Put

Shot Put is an Athletics Event that exclusively appears in the Nintendo 3DS version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The aim of the event is to throw the Shot Put the furthest distance possible. The starting world record for this event is 23.12m, and the Olympic record starts at 22.47m.

Gameplay

At the start of the game, the player must use the circle pad to control their power meter and charge the shot. By pulling the circle pad down, the meter will constantly move up and down, and will only stop when the player releases the circle pad. A fuller meter will achieve a further distance, while an emptier one will not fly as far. If the player fails to release the circle pad, they will not record any distance. once the shot has been thrown, the player must then power up their shot by shouting into the microphone, however blowing works equally well. How charged the shot is indicated by the color it glows, with blue indicating a lower charge and red indicating a higher one. After a short while, the shot will be fly across the field. When it lands, Charmy will record the distance. The player only gets one attempt at this event.

Controls

1) Throw: Hold the circle pad downward, and then release.
2) Shout: After throwing, shout at the microphone (lower screen) for a boost.

Medley Match

In Medley Match mode, Shot Put appears as the first event of the Throwing Medley, and also as the third event of the Belt It Out Medley.

Story Mode

In the game's story mode, Shot Put only appears as the third challenge of Challengers Bonus 2, Junior, Super Hero?, in which Bowser Jr. must beat Silver in the event.
