Shell Shot is one of the special moves that Parakarry, from Paper Mario, can use. It is available as soon as Parakarry joins Mario. The move consumes three Flower Points every time it is used, and, if successful, will damage one enemy. Shell Shot can be used against any foe, regardless of location. Enemy Koopa Paratroopas from this game use the Shell Shot as their First Strike in the overworld and primary attack in battle.

The Action Command for Shell Shot requires the player to tilt the Control Stick to the left, and release it when the targeting cursor is lined up with the enemy, similar to Yoshi's egg toss in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its sequel. If the player releases the stick at the wrong time, the attack will miss completely.

In Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Corporal Paraplonk uses a similar move in the fight with the Elite Trio - two nameless Paratroopas place blocks on either side of Mario, which Paraplonk bounces between using the Shell Shot.

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Shell Shot is a move that can be used by Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratroopas, Buzzy Beetles, and Spinies.
