Rock Krocs[1][2][3] (also spelled RockKrocs[4][5]) are possessed, rock-skinned Kremlings and enemies that appear in Donkey Kong Country.[5][6]
Unlike other Kremlings, Rock Krocs have rocky, brown skin and glowing, red eyes. Their tough skin protects them from any attack, so Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must avoid them. Rock Krocs have the ability to move back and forth rapidly, which causes the Kongs to have little to no room for escape.
History
Donkey Kong Country
In Donkey Kong Country, Rock Krocs only appear in one level, Stop & Go Station, as the main hazard and level feature. Throughout the level, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong must use Stop & Go Barrels to control the movement of Rock Krocs. By default, the Rock Krocs move around due to the barrels reading "GO". When the Kongs jump at a Stop & Go Barrel, all the barrels briefly switch to "STOP". This causes every Rock Kroc to curl up like a boulder and stop moving, giving the Kongs a chance to safely pass them. After a few seconds, all of the Stop & Go Barrels change back to "GO", and the Rock Krocs get up and resume with their movement. A riskier alternative for Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong to harmlessly pass a Rock Kroc is to roll through them.
In the Japanese version, the Kongs can defeat a Rock Kroc while is curled up, either with a barrel or by Donkey Kong performing a Hand Slap. Doing so causes the Rock Kroc to release either a banana, Banana Bunch, or an Extra Life Balloon.
In the Game Boy Advance version, like the original Japanese release, Rock Krocs can be defeated by Donkey Kong's Hand Slap. The remake also features a photograph of Rock Kroc in Stop & Go Station, located before the letter O; once collected, the photograph appears in page four of the scrapbook.
Donkey Kong Country novel
An individual Rock Kroc appears as one of King K. Rool's lieutenants at the end of the Donkey Kong Country novel. Shortly after the Kongs board the Gangplank Galleon, Diddy stomps Rock Kroc's head, causing him to collapse (unlike in Donkey Kong Country).
Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle
In the novel Donkey Kong Country: Rumble in the Jungle, an individual Rock Kroc leads a "squadron" of Kremlings within their factory in Big Ape City. Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong and Funky Kong encounter Rock Kroc after they are found trying to escape the factory in Funky's barrel plane. Rock Kroc and the Kremlings attempt to attack the plane, however Donkey Kong uses a TNT Barrel to rip a large hole in the factory's wall, and they escape before Rock Kroc can reach them.

- "Rock Krocs are rare subterranean Krocs that have glowing red eyes and rocklike skin. They appear in only a few corners of Kong Island. Rock Krocs run around in a crazed rampage when the cave is lit green. Activate Stop & Go Barrels in levels that the stony beasts populate to change the level's lighting to red-the Rock Krocs will become temporarily immobilized."

Trivia
- The SNES Player's Guide erroneously states that Rock Krocs appear in more than one stage.[5]
- Rock Krocs are the only type of Kremlings from Donkey Kong Country who do not appear in the Donkey Kong Country animated series. Similarly, Rock Krocs are also the only Kremling from Donkey Kong Country that do not appear in any other game.
