Template:Item-infobox Power Sneakers are a speed power-up found in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that resembles one of Sonic the Hedgehog's shoes. Power Sneakers frequently appear as items in the Mario & Sonic series, where they function the same way as they do in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, temporarily boosting the user's speed.

History

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

In the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games, Power Sneakers only appear in Dream Race, where they are referred to as High Speed. In the Nintendo DS version, Power Sneakers appear in Dream Long Jump, where they are instead referred to as Speed Boost.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

Power Sneakers return as items in Dream Events for both versions of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, now under the name High Speed Shoes. High Speed Shoes appear as an item in every Dream Event except for Dream Figure Skating in the Wii version, while in the Nintendo DS version, High Speed Shoes only appear in Fever Hockey and Rocket Ski Jumping.

Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

Power Sneakers appear as an item that can be obtained from ? Balloons around London during London Party mode in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games, as well as appearing as an item in some of the mode's minigames.

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games

In the Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Power Sneakers appear as an item in Duel Beach Volleyball, and in the Nintendo 3DS version, Power Sneakers appear in Boxing Plus, and as an effect in Football Plus, where they affect the whole team and are known as Speed Up items.
