Piranha Patch
Template:Minigame-infobox Piranha Patch is a Free-for-All minigame featured in Mario Party 9. Its name is possibly a pun on the phrase "pumpkin patch."
Introduction
A single flower bud blooms into a pink flower. The camera then zooms out to show the entire field.
Gameplay
Players try to earn points by collecting flowers while avoiding Piranha Plants. Buds appear before they become flowers. Gold flowers are worth three points and are much rarer than pink flowers, which are worth one point each. Hitting a Piranha Plant will cause the competitor to lose a point. Piranha Plants, pink flowers, and gold flowers all grow from the same bud. Flowers disappear five seconds after sprouting, while Piranha Plants disappear only three seconds after sprouting. Players move more slowly in the tall grass section of the playing field. After 30 seconds, the player with the highest score wins.
This minigame also appears in Perspective Mode. In it, the camera is zoomed in on the player, making it harder to see if there are any flower buds nearby.
