A Pineapple is a fruit that appears throughout the Mario and Donkey Kong franchises.

In The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episode, "Too Hot to Handle," a pineapple patch grew on Waki-Waki. Mario, Luigi, and Toad used the pineapples as projectiles against King Koopa's Shy Guys in the same manner they used vegetables in Super Mario Bros. 2.

In Donkey Kong Circus, Mario forces Donkey Kong to juggle pineapples in order to entertain large crowds of people. Donkey Kong had to do this whilst balancing on a barrel.

Pineapples make a smaller appearance in the game Donkey Kong 64. They are shot out of Chunky Kong's Pineapple Launcher.

In Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, there is a giant pineapple at the end of each level in the Pineapple Kingdom. Donkey Kong must bite into this Pineapple to end the level.

Donkey Kong also uses smaller pineapples with faces, known as Blood Pines[1]. For Elephant Cannon bosses, he must pick up a Blood Pine, which is done by clapping when near one, and throw it at the Elephant Cannon. Sometimes, they will hit the Elephant Cannon's body and explode, other times, the Elephant Cannon will accidentally suck up the Blood Pine in which case it will explode inside of it, revealing its heart. Later on, Blood Pines appear in Iguanagon's Realm, where they are used as weapons against Iguanagon; they also appear under the same circumstances in the Star Fruit Kingdom's level Asteroid Belt. Mini Slump Birds throughout Donkey Kong Jungle Beat also use Blood Pines as weapons. Like in Donkey Kong 64, these pineapples explode on contact, but also automatically detonate after a few seconds.

Pineapples appear as a fruit for Yoshis in Super Mario Sunshine. When a Yoshi eats one, it will become Orange and his juice meter will be filled. An abnormally large pineapple also appears on a local rooftop, blocking the red Warp Pipe leading to Sirena Beach. The player must use a Yoshi to eat the large pineapple and unblock the Warp Pipe before they can progress. This one does not change the Yoshi's color or fill its juice meter.
