Template:SSB Infobox Pichu is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in the games Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver. It is the pre-evolved form of Pikachu, the Pokémon mascot. It has made its only appearance in the Mario series in the two games: Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

History

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Main article: SmashWiki:Pichu (SSBM)

Pichu is a playable fighter in Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is an unlockable character, unlocked by beating Event Match 37: Legendary Pokémon, or by playing 200 Melee matches. Afterward, Pichu must be defeated in a match on Pokémon Stadium.

Pichu's moveset is similar to Pikachu's, though most of its attacks are weaker, and all of its electrical attacks also deal recoil damage. Pichu is also faster than Pikachu, but is the lightest character in the game, making it easily thrown off the stage. Its neutral special move is Thunder Jolt, its side special move is Skull Bash, its down special move is Thunder, and its up special move is Agility, which does not give as much distance as Pikachu's Quick Attack and does not deal damage.

Pichu is the only character in the game to have two taunts, one for each direction it is facing. It is voiced by Satomi Koorogi in both English and Japanese, who does its voice in the Pokémon anime.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Pichu is one of the five Super Smash Bros. Melee fighters that did not return as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (the other four being Dr. Mario, Young Link, Mewtwo, and Roy). However, the player can get a trophy of Pichu by clearing All-Star Mode without continuing.

Trophy information

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Type Image Description
Classic File:Trophy73.PNG A baby Electric-type Pokémon identifiable by its big ears. Pichu evolves into Pikachu. It's not very skilled at storing up electrical energy and will sometimes discharge it if jarred. Although it's small, it has enough electrical power to give even an adult quite a shock. It's often startled by its own power.
Adventure File:Trophy74.PNG Compared with Pikachu, Pichu is a tad more nimble and a little more difficult to hit. Those are the only two advantages, however, and since Pichu damages itself when it uses electrical attacks, it's best suited for handicapped matches. Even though Pichu's tough to catch, it's easy to throw its tiny frame great distances.
All-Star File:Trophy75.PNG Pichu is the lightest character in Super Smash Bros. Melee., and it's top of the class in weakness, too! For Pichu, it's all about scampering here and there to pick up items that will help it survive. The first warp in Agility causes 1 point of damage to Pichu, and the second causes 3, so try to limit the number of times you use the move.

Pichu has been known to flaunt its courage by touching tails with others and setting off sparks. It is easier for Pichu to build up electricity when the humidity is lower. Pichu will evolve into Pikachu.

These cute baby Pokémon often discharge electricity accidentally when something takes them by surprise. They also play together by using their tails to make sparks fly! It's cute to watch, but it's good training for battle, too.
