A Petapeta seen in Super Mario Galaxy 2

Petapeta are enemies that appear in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. They are turquoise sack-like creatures similar to Moneybags, with legs ending in gray sandal-clad feet and a pair of eyes resembling those of a Blooper. They commonly appear in beaches and other sandy or dirt-filled areas, such as Deep Dark Galaxy or Starshine Beach Galaxy. invisible, revealing only their footprints that leave over the soil, and run away from the player.

The Petapeta is only visible when Mario stands still, and will become invisible if he moves, with their footprints in the dirt giving away their location. If Mario hits an invisibile Petapeta with a spin, it becomes visible and remains dizzy for a few seconds. Mario can defeat a Petapeta by tossing a shell or a fireball at it, though the Petapeta can avoid them unless it is stunned; while stunned, he can also jump on it. Petapetas gives twenty Star Bits upon defeat.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Petapeta are rare, with only two of them appearing in Starshine Beach Galaxy.
