The New Year's Kite is a High-End glider in Mario Kart Tour. It was introduced in the 2020 New Year's Tour and is the signature glider of Mario (Happi) and Lakitu (Party Time). The glider is a variant of the Full Flight themed around New Year's with rose blossoms decorating the edges; the kanji on the glider, which translates to "New Year's Greetings", was written by Mario.[1] Unlike the Full Flight, the New Year's Kite improves the chances of getting Coins from Item Boxes and increases the number of points earned from them.

A golden variant of this glider, called the Gold New Year's Kite, debuted in the New Year's 2021 Tour.

  • Mario Kart Tour Twitter: The delicate strokes of the Japanese kanji for "New Year's Greetings" on the New Year's Kite really stand out against the blue backdrop of the sky. Mario's really been working on his calligraphy![1]
