Template:Event-infobox Moguls is a Skiing Event in the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. It is set at Cypress Mountain. The objective of the event is to score as many points as possible by skiing around moguls and performing tricks in the fastest time. The starting course record for this event is 22.000.

Gameplay

In this event, the player starts by sliding downwards when "Go!" appears to cause their character to start the event, though the player receives no penalty for sliding down too early of too late. The player can also start to charge up energy by touching and holding from when "2" appears onscreen and slide down when "Go!" appears with perfect timing to perform a starting dash, which gives the character an initial boost of speed. Once the character has started the event, the player must slide left and right with the correct timing to ski around the moguls and hit the turn points. The player gains more points for hitting more of the thirty turn points on the course. The player will also encounter two jumps on the course, which are jumped by sliding upwards on the Touch Screen when the character reaches the edge of the jump ramp. The better the timing that the player slides with, the more time they will have in the air to perform tricks. To perform tricks, the player must draw specific shapes on the Touch Screen, with different shapes and point values for each trick and a different set of tricks available for each jump. The player only has a limited amount of air time, as indicated by a gauge in the top left hand corner of the top screen, and can perform as many tricks as possible within the time, however if the player performs tricks too close to landing the jump, they will suffer a speed loss when continuing the moguls on the following part of the course. The player is awarded points for their speed completing the course, the number of turn points they managed to hit and the tricks they performed in the air, with the character with the highest total points winning the event.
