Mega ? Blocks are big ? Blocks that first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 and its remakes.

History

Super Mario series

Super Mario Bros. 3 / Super Mario All-Stars / Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3

In Super Mario Bros. 3, Mega ? Blocks are found mainly in the game's World 4 (Giant Land). In these levels, they mostly contain regular power-ups or coins. They also appear in bonus levels, where they can contain three 1-Up Mushrooms or one of the game's three Suits (the Tanooki, Frog, and Hammer Suits).

While they could not be tail-whipped at all in the NES and Super Mario All-Stars versions, Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 allows Raccoon or Tanooki Mario to tail-whip Mega ? Blocks in normal courses.

New Super Mario Bros.

Mega ? Blocks are also found in Orange Toad Houses in New Super Mario Bros., where they give Mario or Luigi a Mega Mushroom.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

Mega ? Blocks reappear, albeit rarely, in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. They only appear in World 6-5, floating on water.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, they appear in Supermassive Galaxy. Mario and Luigi are unable to hit these blocks (as they are too large), and they are merely used as platforms throughout the level.

New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

Mega ? Blocks return in New Super Mario Bros. U as blocks in various Soda Jungle courses.

Super Mario 3D World

In Super Mario 3D World, Mega ? Blocks appear in the level Super Block Land, though unlike in previous appearances, the question mark is the same size as those seen on regular-sized ? Blocks. When hit, multiple giant Empty Blocks extend out of it (similar to face blocks from Super Mario 3D Land), allowing the player to reach otherwise unreachable areas.

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3

In Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3, Mega ? Blocks are located in hidden areas and contain a 100-Coin. They share the same face design as the game's version of ? Blocks.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey

In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story, Broque Monsieur has a Mega ? Block in his collection, but it is unusable throughout the game.

Mario Kart Wii / Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Mega ? Blocks also appear in Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 8, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. They appear in Grumble Volcano in all three games.

Paper Mario: Color Splash

Mega ? Blocks appear in Paper Mario: Color Splash in Mondo Woods. They are normal ? Blocks that were enchanted by Kamek.

Super Mario Run

Mega ? Blocks appear Super Mario Run, where they can be collected as buildings for Kingdom Builder.
