Should a link to the chatroom be included as well? Wayoshi TC@ Wayoshisig.png 22:04, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

MKDS[edit]

I don't mean to be a wet blanket but... I don't think you should change the sitenotice for the MKDS tourney. I thought that was a personal, not a wiki thing? Huh?Knife (talk)

It's only until Sunday, then I'm switching back to the featured article notice. We need at least one more player, or the tournament's sunk. And, to be honest...I haven't been taking care of it well. Just bear with me for three days. Wa Yoshihead.png TC@Y 00:39, 29 December 2006 (EST)

Makes sense. Could you add a bit more though, like Happy Holidays or something? That would be okay then.Knife (talk)

Stubs[edit]

Should we perhaps remind others not to create stub articles?Knife (talk) 14:36, 13 August 2007 (EDT)

Shroom Date[edit]

"The next 'Shroom articles are due February 5th.

No, they aren't. I changed the date to February 9th. Blitzwing (talk · gnome work)

Revival[edit]

Since there are no more ads, can we bring this back?--Knife (talk) 13:55, 5 March 2011 (EST)

This is getting old.[edit]

We need to change the SiteNotice. It's showing its date.

If a change is minor, backed by policy or already widely agreed upon by an informal consensus on the talk page, there's no need to go through the Talk Page Proposal process.

It's a matter of whether or not the notice is needed, I imagine, as opposed to how old it is, that sounds a tad frivulous to me. (shrug) If there's some advice for editing you can suggest that's needed, then maybe... but I'm just guessing honestly. ExdeathIcon.png Lord G. matters. ExdeathIcon.png 03:39, 9 February 2014 (EST)
Unless they're about an event like a debate or a special 'Shroom issue or whatever, SiteNotices don't have expiry dates. They can stay up for whatever length of time, and it is and always has been up to the admins to come up with new notices and decide when it's time to change things up. The current notice is still a message worth saying, and it beats having nothing up there or changing it to something less relevant just for the sake of change. If you disagree, kindly format your comments less imperiously in the future, or simply leave admin-run business to the admins. - Walkazo 22:19, 10 February 2014 (EST)

I guess we could put up something about new stubs, maybe. R O Y 19:37, 11 February 2014 (EST)

For future reference[edit]

{{#switch:{{#expr:{{#time:U}} mod 2}}|0=First notice.|1=Second notice.}}

The above code is great to use when it's necessary to have two different notices, which appear to rotate every few page refreshes.

Also relevant for future reference: Ensure that when the notice is updated to a new message, that the edit is not marked as minor. Otherwise it won't show up for users who dismissed the previous notice.
