The sandbox (MarioWiki:Sandbox) is a wiki namespace page designed for testing and experimenting with wiki syntax. Feel free to try your skills at formatting here: Click on edit, make your changes, then click "Save changes" when you are finished. Content added here will not stay permanently. Feel free to remove any content when you think this page gets too crammed. This is not a page to chat.
Please do not fill the sandbox with memes. A little joking is fine, but if the sandbox is oversaturated with memes or jokes unrelated to testing, the jokes and memes in the sandbox will be removed. If you need further help editing, visit our help page.
In the Mario franchise and its "cousin" series, such as Yoshi and Donkey Kong, there are many different levels, each with different themes. Each theme appears in different games.
Overworld/grassland theme
This is a grassy world with hills, trees and slopes. This is usually the easiest kind of level theme, as it is normally the first level or world theme encountered in each game. It is common for this level theme to introduce common level features and mechanics, such as jumping, breaking blocks, or new powerups. Common enemies here include Goombas and Koopa Troopas. Bottomless pits are some of the more dangerous features in these levels. This level theme often has secret areas, that lead to sky or underground themed locations. Underground theme
This theme takes place underground, with stone or occasionally icy floors. A common archetype for this level are Piranha Plants that come out of pipes or bottomless pits, so the player should time their jumps to get across. A different kind of underground level includes a mine or sewer, with water or poison to get across. For a full list of underground levels, see Areas Category:Subterranean Areas.
