List of bonuses in Super Smash Bros. Melee

Remove Featured Article Status

  1. Time Turner (talk) Here's my biggest gripe with this list: our featured stuff is supposed to be the best of the wiki, right? You know, "highlight quality articles representative of the Super Mario Wiki" and whatnot. With that said, what exactly does this represent, that the wiki can have complete things wrapped up with a really bland presentation? I mean, it pretty much follows the checklist, but it's a featureless list with nothing but bland text is only representative of the fact that we're good bookkeepers. Should the list of merchandise, list of publications, list of Palutena's Guidance conversations, or the list of bosses be featured, simply for being complete? Besides that, though, there is a much more critical problem: a lot of the descriptions are extremely vague. Yes, I'm aware that they're basically just transcriptions from the game, but again, that doesn't help the "bookkeeping" thing, and even the in-game descriptions aren't really descriptive. Terms like Power Shield, Meteor Smash, smash attacks, and magnifying glass are never explained, there are zero links in the actual list, "many" and "a lot" are used far too much without ever explaining what constitutes "many" and "a lot," ordering it by the game's order leads to the whole list being disjointed... I mean, good job of copying the info, I guess, but it definitely isn't visually appealing nor informative for the average reader.
  2. Megamario15 (talk) Per Time Turner. I noticed that there was also a missing description, but there's probably a good reason for that, due to it being in the bottom section. Which could also use a better transition, rather than just one sentence.

Keep Featured Article Status

  1. Baby Luigi (talk) I have to completely disagree that the presentation is "bland" is a key point to unfeaturing ANY article. I prefer if the table style is straightforward and up to the point which is what it does, we don't need some fancy style to present information, especially if it works. "Bland" is something completely subjective and the feature article standards, though maybe I am a bit strict on the rules, has absolutely nothing against highly subjective "bland" presentation to feature the article. Furthermore, I wouldn't compare this article to list of merchandise, bosses, and publications. It's far more comparable to list of collectibles in Mario Party, where it's also a list but has more graphics or Miracle Book, which is basically an image version of featured lists. Unlike those lists, like lists of bosses or publications, which are literally merely a list of things, this article has in-game descriptions and points so it's not merely a list strung together like what the other articles have. I'm fine if in-game descriptions are "vague", if that's how things were in the game, that's how it should be in the list, end of story. Finally, the order of the table does not matter. You can organize tables automatically by clicking on the headers on the table on the list. By the way if List of Palutena's Guidance was completed, and was compiled in a presentable fashion, I'd support its feature nomination anyhow. The list follows all standards that is outlined in featured lists and what you listed is I believe not enough to remove the featured article label.

How do you want the terms to be defined? You want us to link it to SmashWiki? We use <span class=explain title=" "> formatting? Create another column explaining things? You can't point out the flaws if you can't provide us specific solutions. The in-game descriptions often do explain what "many" and "a lot" are used for. In the Butterfinger's award's case, how exactly do you figure out what percentage of failed grabs lead to the award? Or Elbow Room, what do you expect us to do, calculate the exact frequency in proportion to time limit to find out what gives out the reward? The in-game descriptions, when vague, are, well, vague. Finally, the last point is moot. As Baby Luigi pointed out, you can organize it alphabetically by clicking on the headers, but ordering it by how the game orders it helps readers who played the game find out which bonuses they're missing. I might make a numerical order so people can reorganize by how the game displays it, but again, this point is invalid. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS.
