LuigiEdit

SupportEdit

  1. Alex95 (talk) - Back in December, I rewrote the entirety of the Luigi article, and I think it came out great. It meets the good writing requirements and the only notice template on the page is for the upcoming Mario Sports Superstars. Not a lot of red links, either.

  9. PinkYoshiFan (talk) - The Personality section and the listing of games seem nice and well done.
  10. supermariowahoo (talk) I learnt a lot about Luigi's history from this page, the writers did a really good job!

  13. GashomyWiki (talk) - This article looks very well.

OpposeEdit

  1. Baby Luigi (talk) Organization of the page is still a huge mess. Every non video media is spliced off into their own little areas when they should be ordered chronologically (like, the Super Show appearances should be around the Super Mario Bros. 2 area or something), and that type is something we forbid. Mario Sports Superstars is pretty much propped in the middle of nowhere when, since it's not part of any series, should go on the bottom of the page beneath Super Mario Run. Profiles and Statistics section should be written about Luigi's profiles and statistics rather than listing random entries from the article. I'll take a look at the writing later.
  2. Bazooka Mario (talk) Lacking substantial amount of information and contains many questionable statements. See comments for full complaint.
  3. A51 Trooper (talk) Per Baby Luigi.
  4. The Koopa Bro. (talk) Per All

Removal of opposesEdit

Baby Luigi

  1. Yoshi the Space Station Manager (talk) You do realize that the Super Show can't go near Super Mario Bros. 2 due to the series. And I would consider Mario Sports Superstars as part of the sports series. If you rewrite your oppose, then I will remove this.
  2. 3D Player 2010 (talk) Per Yoshi SSM.

CommentsEdit

@Yoshi the Space Station Manager (talk) That was just an example not to be taken literally because I don't want to sort through history sections to find out exactly where to put it. What I'm trying to say here is that other media needs to be ordered chronologically despite that they appear in alternate media. That is MarioWiki's policy and this article violates that by splicing the sections into the latter areas of the article. You're wrong about Mario Sports Superstars, we separate Mario Baseball, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, and Mario Sports Mix. Mario Sports Superstars is not connected to any of those former sports, so it should be on the bottom with its own category.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:22, 6 February 2017 (EST)

@any voters: Seriously, go reread MarioWiki policy pages before you happily impulsively vote to remove my vote, because what you're voting for obviously violates it.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:25, 6 February 2017 (EST)

@Baby Luigi (talk) Well, you don't have the right to tell me what to do. I will impulsively vote if I want to impulsively vote.User:TheFlyingBowser/sig

You're foolish. You do realize your vote means nothing as long as oppose votes are still up and they will be up.   Ray Trace(T|C) 15:35, 13 February 2017 (EST)
I tried to put the games in chronologically, first by when the series was created (e.g. Smash Bros. comes before Paper Mario) and then sort the games of that series. However, there are some games that don't fit into a sub-series, like Super Mario Maker. The cartoons are a different case, though. Originally, I was going to group them under an "Animation" header, but was soon told not to do so. And I don't know when each of the animations were released. However, Mario Sports Superstars IS a sports game, it's just its own sports title.   18:27, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Look at how Mario organizes his nonvideo game media appearances, then go look back at Luigi's article. It's integrated nicely within his history instead of Luigi splitting it off. I was the one who told you not to treat nonvideogame media as separate appearances.
My argument isn't that Mario Sports Superstars is a sports game. My argument is that it's completely separate from the other sports series, including Mario Sports Mix, so it should be on the bottom of the article, treated as its own thing. It doesn't fit in the Mario Golf series header, nor the Mario Tennis series header, nor next to Mario Sports Mix. That's why it should be treated as such.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:31, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Ah. When I rewrote the Luigi article, I didn't go off of anything. I enjoy trying to make my work appear as original as possible, but I guess that makes it seem off compared to other articles on the wiki.
If we're comparing Luigi's article to Mario's and the other major characters, then yeah, the whole thing needs some work... Maybe this article isn't suited for featured status at the moment after all.    18:35, 6 February 2017 (EST)
@Alex95: You can still change the article to match the policies. @Baby Luigi: It is nice to have all the sports games in one location. Especially since there is more than golf, tennis, etc. in other sports games.   Yoshi the SSM (talk) 18:40, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Coming up with original concepts to present articles is always a neat thing to have (how the List of Mario Party minigames articles are formatted in gallery form came from an idea I had, as well as using tables to display Mario Kart items and many other stuff on this wiki that I can't list), but when said original concepts obviously violate MarioWiki policy, that's when others and I have to step in.
You can continue working on the article while the nomination is up. I remember featured article nominations used to be a lot more active than this, and articles were changed for the better while lots of discussion was going on. Now, it's kinda dead but I'm trying my best to maintain it.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:42, 6 February 2017 (EST)

@User:Yoshi the Space Station Manager: I don't really care if it would be "nice" if they were all in one location. That violates MarioWiki:Chronology on how we order things. You might as well lump all RPGs, all platformers, all puzzle games, and all nonvideo game media in one category, and then, Luigi's article would be an anomaly to every other character article and that's not the standard we follow.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:42, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Yeah, of course it could be updated. Just saying that, now that what's wrong has been pointed out (as no one told me before), at the moment, I don't feel it is currently ready for a featured status. Is there a way I can "unnominate" this?    18:43, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Not that I know of. You pretty much have to wait for the nomination to expire, unless your nomination is blatantly awful. You still have several months to get it back in ship shape, so that's still plenty of time before I consider to change my vote and support.   Ray Trace(T|C) 18:45, 6 February 2017 (EST)
Very well then. Once I'm done working on my current project, I'll rework the Luigi article to match the others.    18:48, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Info Needed Checklist

False or questionable statements

  • "His first appearance was in NES Open Tournament Golf. In the game, Luigi wore green striped overalls and hat along with a blue shirt with white stars imprinted on it. This is the only game to show Luigi with this outfit."
Wrong. It is Family Computer Golf: Japan Course came first, then Family Computer Golf: U.S. Course and THEN NES Open Tournament. Luigi also wore the 'Murica outfit in Family Computer Golf: U.S. Course.
  • "The Super Mario Adventures comic serial's depiction of Luigi, oddly, features him in an opposite portrayal to his personality in the games and cartoons."
Arguably false since Luigi is a coward in Super Mario Adventures and is prone to goofing off. Not unlike the games and cartoons. This is contradicted later in the article "Luigi is portrayed as timid and a bit of a coward, which was first shown in Super Mario Adventures."
  • "Luigi has also been known to cross-dress several times. The first time was in Super Mario Adventures, second in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga and third was (implied) in Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door."
Misleading, as Luigi has cross-dressed countless times in Super Mario-Kun, and there may be other undocumented cross-dressings.
  • "Super Mario Adventures downplays his cowardice altogether, instead portraying him as rash and willing to make choices without putting much thought into them. His main characteristic here is greed. However, his greed is not for money as it was in the anime, but for food; when the brothers came across a haunted house, Luigi was drawn in immediately by the smell of cheese."
False for the claim about "downplaying cowardice" and the "rash" decisions could be considered a component of Luigi's clumsiness. The last point is misleading as both brothers are hungry but Luigi has a weaker will to resist, not because he's greedy.
  • "In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, the Star Gate (which supposedly knows all) passes Luigi as 'unworthy' to enter. This most likely has something to do with Luigi's 'dark secret from his past,' which it also mentions; Luigi did something either embarrassing or foolish which he has kept a secret ever since. However, in a interview with a member of staff, he stated Luigi had no dark secret, and it was actually a reference to Luigi's constantly living in the shadow of his brother. He also added: 'Why make Luigi into a bad guy? We have Waluigi for that instead!'"
    Source?

Other comments

  • Roles taken section in a nutshell: he is a hero sometimes; he is a sidekick sometimes. Bad section.
  • Luigi could use some information on Super Smash Bros. in addition to what's here, which is usually just unlock conditions, special moves, and role in Brawl's story.
  • Mario Strikers Charged needs a bit more info. What does "balanced" mean? And make a short mention of his deke and his unique Mega Strike.
  • Mario Golf games simply vomits out meaningless jargon and numbers. What does a drive of 200 mean? Make it relative to the cast so readers know how big this number is.
  • Mario Tennis games have almost no information overall and tells me nothing relevant about Luigi. Again, what does "better net play" mean?
  • Super Mario Bros. film information needs to be split from this page.

  It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 23:54, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Okay, so, essentially, I just rewrote what was already there. This article needs a MAJOR overhaul, and I see that now. Thanks for the advice, and I'll begin working on the article when I can, however, I don't know everything, so I may not be able to get all the information this article needs....    00:03, 7 February 2017 (EST)

Alright, I rearranged the games using MarioWiki:Chronology and using Mario's page as a basis. There is still a lot of missing information and some needs to be fixed, but I think I took care of the major problem.    14:38, 15 February 2017 (EST)
