List of power-ups

This article is about the power-ups found in different games. For the space in Mario Party 3, see Power-up Space. For the status effect that means "power up", see POW-Up. For the move from Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser, see Special Skill (Mario & Luigi series).

Power-ups are items that give special abilities to characters that use them. Most of their effects make defeating enemies or exploring levels easier. Below is a list of power-ups, including a selection of their sprites and artwork, and a list of their respective Mario game appearances. While other characters, such as Luigi, may be able to use many of these power-ups identically, the accompanying description for most describes their effect on Mario. The page for each power-up provides more information, including which characters can use it.

Giga Bell		Giga Cat Mario	Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Bowser's Fury campaign only)	Transforms Mario into Giga Cat Mario, a gigantic version of Cat Mario with immunity to black goop and the ability to directly battle and damage Fury Bowser.
Gold Block			New Super Mario Bros. 2	Similar to the Coin Box, but grants Mario up to 100 coins when worn. Taking damage or clearing the level removes the box, rewarding coins in the latter case. Hitting a Gold Block from either side, above, or while wearing another one causes 50 coins to spout out instead.
Gold Flower		Gold Mario / Silver Luigi	New Super Mario Bros. 2	Transforms Mario into Gold Mario and Luigi into Silver Luigi, letting them launch golden or silver fireballs, which explode with a small blast radius. Any enemies hit will award an amount of coins based on the number of enemies hit. These fireballs can also hit ? Blocks and turn Brick Blocks into coins. If Mario touches a Golden Mushroom, he will be rewarded 100 coins instead of 50. Taking damage, collecting an Invincibility Leaf or Mega Mushroom, or clearing the level ends the Gold Flower's effect, reverting Mario to Fire Mario in the latter case.

Master Sword		Link	Super Mario Maker 2	Turns Mario into Link, enabling him to use his shield to block enemies and projectiles, bombs to hit switches and blow up blocks, and a bow and arrow to collect items or attack enemies. He is also able to use the sword to hit enemies, and use a dash attack with said sword and a down thrust in similar fashion to a Ground Pound. In multiplayer mode, the Master Sword gives the characters different colors to distinguish them.

P-Wing		Raccoon Mario	Super Mario Bros. 3	Transforms Mario into Raccoon Mario, but also gives him infinite flight for one level. Taking damage, grabbing a non-flight-based power-up, or finishing the level ends the P-Wing's effect, reverting his flight to normal in the latter case.

U, New Super Luigi U	Transforms Mario into Penguin Mario, letting him slide on his belly, throw Ice Balls, and swim more freely (similar to the Blue Shell, Ice Flower, and Frog Suit respectively). Taking damage or clearing the level removes the box, rewarding an extra life in the latter case. In Super Mario Maker 2, Mario can use the box up to three times while in the air.
