List of beanholes in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time

In Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi can collect Beans by coming across beanholes -- X-shaped bean symbols/spots/marks on the ground -- all throughout the Mushroom Kingdom, both present and past times. To retrieve these beans, babies must use the Baby Drill to drill themselves into the beanhole, then by popping out of the ground at the spot, babies will uncover the bean.

There are 167 Beans to collect from beanholes. Hollijolli Village, Koopa Cruiser and Peach's Castle Dungeon (in the present) do not have any beanholes at all.

Beanhole locations

Peach's Castle

Peach's Castle – 13 Beans
First floor: In the room with the time hole to the Toadwood Forest, there are 2 beanholes on the bookshelf.
First floor: In the courtyard (where Toadsworths are trying to cheer up Baby Peach), the beanhole is in the northwest corner, which can be reached with Baby Spin.
First floor: In the scene with the time hole to the Thwomp Volcano, the beanhole is in the middle of the ledge where the Bros. have to use the Baby Spin to get to the time hole.
Second floor: After using the left entrance, the Bros. must go left to the next room. In the next room, they should head immediately south, until they fall down. After falling down, the beanhole is behind the Bros.
Second floor: After using the right entrance, the Bros. must go right to the next room. In the next room, they should head immediately south, until they fall down. After falling down, the beanhole is behind the Bros.
Third floor: There are 2 beanholes at the balcony, one on the west side and one on the east side.
Second floor (after learning the Bros. Ball): After activating the purple block, another one appears at the end of the stairs and timer starts. The player should use the Bros. Ball to reach the second purple block in time. After this block is activated, the gate will open. The player should enter this new room and head west right away. Bros. will find a beanhole there.
Second floor (after learning the Bros. Ball): In the same scene, the player should head east from the last bean and another beanhole is found.
First floor (after learning Baby Spin): In the small courtyard (the one with Hollijolli Village time hole), the player should go north of said hole and use the move there to get the babies to the ledge. There are 2 beanholes on said ledge.
Third floor (after learning Baby Spin): On the balcony, there is a pink step. The player should jump on it and use the move there to get babies to reach the ledge. Another beanhole is there.

Bowser's Castle

Bowser's Castle – 8 Beans
First area: In the third room (room with the "railings"), the beanhole is in the ground at the northeast end of the room.
First area: As the Bros. enter the next room, the beanhole is seen right away.
First area: In the sixth room (dubbed "Koopa Training Gymnasium"), the beanhole is in the middle of the room.
First area: In the next room (the 2nd room with bridges), the beanhole is in the ground after crossing the first bridge.
Second area: As the Bros. enter the second room of the area, the beanhole is seen right away.
Second area: In the next room, after the Bros. jump across the red platforms, the beanhole in seen in the middle of the ground between the platforms and the white bridge.
Second area: In the next room, the beanhole is near the northeast corner of the room.
Third area: In the second room, the beanhole is at the east end of the ground level.

Toadwood Forest

Toadwood Forest – 4 Beans
First area: As the Bros. enter the last scene of the area, the beanhole is right in front of them.
First area: In the same scene, the next beanhole is to the right of the warp pipe.
Second area: There are 2 beanholes in the first scene of the next area, the first the southwest and the second the northeast of the warp pipe.

Vim Factory

Vim Factory – 10 Beans
First area: After using the yellow switch, the beanhole is found at the end of the unlocked room.
First area: After getting out of the first ventilation shaft, the player should fall down, dig under the left "gate" and go south to the next room, the beanhole is in the northwest corner of the said room.
First area: After using the blue switch located in the same room as the yellow switch, the beanhole is found at the end of the unlocked room in the northeast corner.
First area: In the next room, the beanhole is in southeast corner.
Second area: After using the blue warp pipe from the previous room, the beanhole is in the southwest corner of the room.
Second area: In the room with the force fields, the player should throw the babies up the platform, go to the next room, whack the button with Baby Mario, switch to the adults, go to the Simu-Blocks, jump under them to create the bridge, switch to the babies and go over the bridge to the fence. The beanhole is to the right of the said fence.
Second area: After opening the doors at the west side of the force field room, the player should go through the left one. The beanhole is seen right away in the northeast corner.
Second area: The player should continue through the room into the next one, the beanhole is in the southeast corner of the room.
Second area: The player should return to the force field room and go through the right unlocked door. In the next room, the beanhole is at the end in the northwest corner.
Second area: The player should continue into the next room, throw babies on the platform and go to the next room. The beanhole is in the northwest corner.

Yoshi's Island

Yoshi's Island – 22 Beans
First area: After entering the second scene, Bros. have to go northeast until they see the beanhole behind 2 trees.
First area: In the same scene, after getting the last bean, the player should go northwest between the 2 houses to find 2 beanholes. The first beanhole is directly west of the lower house, the second beanhole is in middle of the houses.
First area: In the same scene, the player should return to the entrance of the scene, go east until a house is seen and then go inside. The beanhole is in the southeast corner of the house.
First area: After entering the fourth scene, the beanhole is seen right away in the northwest corner.
First area: After entering the last scene, the beanhole is seen to the right between the trees.
First area: In the same scene, the beanhole is seen west of the warp pipe.
Second area: In the third scene, the player should use the trampoline. The beanhole is seen right away in northeast corner.
Second area: On the same cloud, but this beanhole is in the southwest corner.
Second area: After entering the fourth scene with the big colored blocks, the player should go right into the next scene, where the trampoline is used. Once on the cloud, the player should go northwest until two blocks are seen. There are three beanholes here: one above the blocks, one east of the blocks, and one below the blocks.
Second area: After activating the red block, the player should go back to the previous scene and then left into the next one. After Bros. enter said scene, the beanhole is seen right away in the northeast corner.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should return to the entrance and then go south. The block will be seen and the beanhole is the southwest of it.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should go west from the last bean to the southwest corner, there is another beanhole.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should go north from the last bean to the northwest corner, there is another beanhole.
Second area: After activating the green block, the player should go back to previous scene and then northeast to jump off the green block, then continue to the right to enter the next scene. In this scene, Bros. should go southeast, and the beanhole is seen between bunch of trees.
Third area: In the third scene, the player should use the trampoline. The beanhole is in the southwest corner of the cloud.
Third area: In the same scene, on the same cloud, the player should go to the northeast corner. There is another beanhole there.
Third area: In the fifth scene, the player should use the trampoline. The beanhole is seen right away in northwest corner of the cloud.
Third area: In the same scene, on the same cloud, the player should continue west along the cloud. Next beanhole is seen between the 2 blocks, closer to the right one.
Third area: In the same scene, on the same cloud, the player should continue west from the last bean along the cloud. Next beanhole is seen in the corner between 2 blocks.

Yoob's Belly

Yoob's Belly – 23 Beans
First area: After using the trampoline from the intestine-like room, the player should go west and slightly south to see 4 beanholes.
First area: In the same room, after collecting the previous beans, player should go north and then slightly east after the "tree stump". There are another 4 beanholes there.
First area: In the same room, after collecting beans, the player should continue east and then a little south after the "tree stump". Another 4 beanholes await here.
First area: In the same room, after collecting beans, the player should head south and the last 3 beanholes of this scene will show up.
First area: After collecting all 15 beans form the biggest room in the area, the player should go to the east room (from the last position it should be northeast of the Bros.). In this room, the lone beanhole is in the northeast corner. To get to it, the player should use the Baby Drill to drill into baby-only section, have Baby Mario use the Baby Pump and Baby Luigi to whack him to shot the Shroob UFO in the main section of the room, return to the adults and defeat the RC Shroober. The way to the beanhole will then be clear.
First area: The player should go back to the big room, take few steps west and then head north into the northeast room, where the player should have the babies use the trampoline and then jump into the hole in the northeast corner. Babies will fall next to the beanhole.
First area: The player should go back to the big room, head west and then north to get to the north room and there head west too. The beanhole is found next to a wall.
First area: The player should go back to the big room, head west and then north to get to the northwest room, then head north to the colored buttons. The player should whack the buttons correctly to unlock a baby-only section, where the babies whack all the buttons correctly (with the help of the adults on the other screen) to open a closed off "prison like section". The player should go back with the babies to the main section and then to the "prison-like" one and the beanhole is in the northwest corner of this section.
First area: The player should go back to the big room, head south and then west to the west room, where the Bros. will be attacked by the RC Shroober. After defeating it, the player should go into the southwest corner of the room. Another beanhole is waiting there.
Second area: At the end of the fourth room, there are 2 doors: the north and the south one. The player should go into the south one and then continue south to find the beanhole.
Second area: In the same room, the player should head northwest and then southwest to find a Blue and Yellow Yoshis. Between them lies one beanhole.
Second area: After entering the second-to-last room, the beanhole is seen to the right.

Gritzy Desert

Gritzy Desert – 7 Beans
After entering the fourth scene, the player should head directly northwest and the beanhole will be in the stone ground.
In the fourth scene, there are 3 exits: the north, the west and the south one. The player should go through the north one. In this scene, the player should go directly northwest into the northwest corner of the scene, the beanhole in the stone ground will be found there.
In the same scene, the player should return to the entrance and then go directly northeast. When the Bros. reach middle of the scene, another stone ground with beanhole will be found.
In the same scene, from the last bean, the player should head east and when the two cacti (one small and one big) are seen, head south between them. In the southeast corner of the scene is another stone ground with beanhole.
From the last bean, the player should head to the exit in the northeast corner into the next scene. In this scene, the Bros. find themselves in the cacti maze. The player should find the beanhole near the southwest corner of the scene.
After completing the timed challenge from Monty Mole, the gate will open. The player should go through it and continue south into the next scene. In this scene, the player should keep going south until the Bros. hit the column with a block that too high to reach (for now). After hitting the column, the player should head west and the Bros. will find another stone ground with the beanhole.
From the last bean, the player should head to the south exit of the scene into the next one, where after going south, the stone ground with the beanhole will show up. The player should go to it and dig for the final bean of the area.

Koopaseum

Koopaseum – 2 Beans
In the second room (red carpet hallway), the beanhole is found at the east end in the corner.
In the room with the Adult Shine Block, the beanhole is found in the southeast corner.

Gritzy Caves

Gritzy Caves – 12 Beans
First area: In the first scene there are 3 exits: the north (leads to shop), the east and the south one, the player should take the east one. In this scene, the player should activate the purple block to lower the platform to make the stairs. At the top of those stairs, the adults use the Bros. Ball to get across to get to another scene. Here the cutscene plays and the adults use the Warp Block to call the babies. Then the player should head west from the block and the beanhole is visible southwest of the circular object.
First area: After getting the bean, the player should head through the exit in the southeast. In the next scene, the player should head also southeast until the Bros. fall down. The beanhole will be right next to them.
First area: The player should jump back up and go under the arches, then head up the slope to get to the exit in the southeast. In this next scene, the player should head to the southwest corner. There is a beanhole waiting.
First area: The player should go back to the previous scene and head to the west exit. In the next scene the player should use the machine (with the Bros. Ball) and the water (with the Baby Pump) to hit 3 pairs of the flowers to make a bridge. The player should cross that bridge and go to the next scene. In this scene the player should fall down and then go up the slope in the northwest corner. Up the slope is a beanhole to uncover.
First area: In the same scene, the player should go east from the slope to fall down again until they reach the opening for the baby-only section. The babies must use the Baby Drill to get inside and uncover a beanhole laying in the middle of this section.
Second area: In the third scene, this beanhole is found in the northeast corner.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should head southwest, jump over the object, continue southwest and the Bros. will get to the next beanhole.
Second area: In the fifth scene, the player should head directly south and Bros. will come across the beanhole right away.
Second area: In the same scene, from the last bean, the player should head southwest into a corner. There is another beanhole.
Second area: In the sixth scene, the player should throw the babies onto the platform and head inside. Once the babies are inside, the beanhole is clearly visible.
Second area: In the seventh scene, the beanhole is in the northeast corner.
Third area: In the second scene, the beanhole is found in the northeast corner.

Thwomp Volcano

Thwomp Volcano – 15 Beans
First area: In the second scene, the beanhole is found in the southwest corner.
First area: In the fourth scene, the beanhole is on the pedestal near the southwest corner of the scene.
First area: In the fifth scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to access baby-only section. In there, the player should use the propellers to reach the top and jump on the trampoline. Once the babies are out, the player should head south and while falling quickly change the direction to the north. The babies will land right next to a beanhole.
Second area: After entering the second scene, the two large blocks are seen, with the beanhole in the middle of the top one. The player should use the Baby Spin to get to the southwest corner of that block and then jump to the beanhole.
Second area: In the same scene, after crossing the spike pit, the beanhole is found in the southwest corner of the scene.
Second area: In the third scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to access another baby-only section with the propellers. Once on top, the player should jump under the purple block, which in turn makes a row of the yellow blocks move, thus making the stairs. Then the player should leave the baby-only section and have the adults reunite with the babies on that exact spot. From that spot, the player should use the Baby Spin and fly east to land on the large block with a beanhole in the middle.
Second area: In the fourth scene, near the northeast exit is a path only accessible by the Baby Cakes. The player should use the move and go along the path, where the beanhole will be found. The player should dig it out after the effect of the Baby Cakes wears off.
Second area: In the same scene, after the last bean, the player should head slightly southwest to fall into a hole. After landing, the beanhole is seen behind the babies.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should return to the exit and use the Baby Cakes again, this time continue along the path to reach the northwest corner of the scene with the beanhole. The player should dig it out after the effect of the Baby Cakes wears off.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should head south and fall down. The beanhole will be in the middle of the platform.
Second area: In the sixth scene, the player should take few steps north from the entrance, head east and after hitting the large block, throw the babies on it. The beanhole will be found in the middle of said block.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should head to northeast exit. To get there, the player should head northwest, up the slope, use the Baby Spin and the Bros. Ball at the top and continue east. But before going to the last scene of the area, the player should head south, fall down and change the direction the to the north during the fall to land near the block. After landing, the player should head west and fall through the hole, landing near another beanhole.
Third area: In the first scene, the player should head to a northeast exit. But before going to the next scene, the player should use the Baby Spin and fly west on the large block which floats in the air. The beanhole is on the said block.
Third area: In the second scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to get into another baby-only propeller section. While the babies move to a propeller, the adults will use Bros. Spin to power up the propeller, sending babies into the air. After reaching the top, the player should head east to land on the moving cloud and then continue east to find a purple block. The player should jump under it, which in turn makes the yellow wall in the main section sink into the ground, revealing the beanhole behind it. The player should head back into the main section and then east to the beanhole.
Third area: In the fifth scene, the player should head directly southeast from the entrance to fall down. After falling down, the beanhole will be behind the brothers.

Thwomp Caverns

Thwomp Caverns – 6 Beans
First area: In the third scene (scene with three 3 blue pipes doesn't count), the player should head southeast from the entrance to reach the beanhole in the south of the scene.
First area: In the fifth scene, the player should head south and near the end of the scene the beanhole will be seen to the right.
First area: In the sixth scene, the player should head southwest from the entrance. The beanhole is in the southwest corner of the scene.
Second area: In the scene after the scene with the coin collecting, the player should go slightly east and then south to fall down a little. The Bros. will land next to a beanhole.
Second area: After activating the green block and accessing the third area, the player should go west/southwest until the green pipe appears. The player should go through, which transports the Bros. back to the second area. After getting out of the pipe, the player should go east to get under the purple block and jump under it, which creates 2 bridges. The player should cross both of them to access another purple block. Jumping under this block lowers the column with the beanhole. Go northwest to the column and use the Baby Spin near it to land on it. The beanhole lies in the middle of this column.
Third area: The player should go back through the green pipe to be transported back to third area. Then the player should go northeast until stairs show up. The player should go south onto those stairs and after leaving them, keep going south. The Bros. will come across the beanhole eventually.

Shroob Mother Ship

Shroob Mother Ship – 11 Beans
First area: In the first room, this beanhole is seen right away on the right.
First area: In the same room, another beanhole is in the southwest corner of the room.
First area: In the same room, the last beanhole of this room is in the northeast corner.
First area: In the second room, the player should simply head south and 2 beanholes will be seen right away.
First area: In the third room, the player should head east until the Bros. come across a gap which is only accessible by using the Baby Cakes. The player should use this move and go into this gap which leads to the stairs with the beanhole at their end.
First area: In the fourth room, the beanhole is seen right above the Bros., so the player should head north to get it.
Second area: In the first room, the player should simply head south and the beanhole will show itself.
Second area: In the same room, from the last bean, the player should head east to find another beanhole near the southeast corner of the room.
Second area: In the third room, there are 2 beanholes near the Save Album, one to the south of it and one to the west of it.

Toad Town

Toad Town – 6 Beans
In the first scene, after the cutscene, the player should head south until to the yellow house. There will be two entrances, both only accessible by using a Baby Drill. The player should use the non-barred one. Once inside, the player should head north to find a beanhole in the northeast corner of the grass.
In the same scene, after the last bean, the player should go back outside and then head east to find another house with 2 entrances. Just like before, the player should take non-barred one and once inside, head north and find a beanhole, this time in the northwest corner of the grass.
In the fourth baby-only scene, the player should head southeast from the entrance and the beanhole will be visible on the right.
In the third scene, there is another yellow house. Just like before, the player should take the non-barred entrance and once inside, head north. The beanhole will be in the northwest corner.
There are 2 exits in the fourth scene, the west one and the east one. To get this beanhole, the player should go into the west one. Once in the next scene, familiar house is seen. The player should use non-barred entrance, head north to the northeast corner to find the beanhole
In the sixth scene (the one with the pipe), this beanhole is found east of the pipe.

Star Hill

Star Hill – 2 Beans
In the second scene, the player should keep going along the path until Bros. come across a gap only accessible by Baby Cakes. The player should use the move to go inside and find a propeller and four platforms. The adults outside use the Bros. Spin on the cog to power up the propeller, which makes babies fly and the player should land on the lower left platform and go outside. Once outside, the player should head west to find the beanhole at the end.
In the third scene, the player should head northwest from the entrance to find a platform with the blocks. When the Bros. are in the middle of that platform, the player should head south to fall down. The beanhole will be found on that smaller platform where Bros. have landed.

Star Shrine

Star Shrine – 8 Beans
First area: In the first scene, this beanhole is right behind the pipe.
First area: In the scene after the Star Gate, there are big yellow platforms. This beanhole is in the northwest corner of the second platform.
First area: In the same scene, this beanhole is on the last platform, southwest of the pipe.
Second area: After entering the second area, the player should head south and the beanhole will be visible on the left.
Second area: In the next scene, the player should keep going south until the beanhole is seen to the southwest of the huge pipe.
Second area: From the previous bean, the player should go northeast into the next scene. Here, the player should keep going northeast, until the beanhole is seen between 2 huge pipes, closer to the left one.
Second area: From the previous bean, the player should head southeast to the exit to the next scene. Here, the player should keep going southeast until another exit and another scene are reached. In this scene, the player should go west from the entrance and the beanhole will be seen in the southwest corner of the platform.
Third area: In the fourth scene, the player should head northwest until the Bros. reach the section with the little propellers. The player should use the Baby Cakes to get into that section. When the babies reach the first propeller, the player should head west and when the babies reach the third propeller, the player should head east. This guarantees that the babies reach the star-shaped hole with bars. The player should use Baby Drill to get inside. Once inside, the beanhole is seen right away on the right.

Shroob Castle

Shroob Castle – 18 Beans
Second area: From the first room, the player should head to the west exit. In this next room, the player should go north and the beanhole is seen in the middle of the middle carpet.
Second area: From the last bean, the player should return to the previous room and in there, the player should head to the east exit. In this next room, the player should go north and the beanhole is seen in the middle of the middle carpet.
Third area: After entering the third area, the player should head southeast and fall down. After falling down, the beanhole is seen behind the brothers.
Third area: After returning to the pipe, the player should head to the northeast exit to the next room. In here, the player should head southeast. The beanhole will be seen on the way.
Fourth area: After entering the fourth area, the player should head to the northeast exit, In the next room, there are two exits, the southwest one and the southeast one. The player should head through the southwest one to reach the balcony. Once on the balcony, the player should take few step south and the beanhole will be seen partially hidden on the left.
Fourth area: Also on the balcony, from the last bean, the player should head east. This beanhole will be seen also partially hidden.
Sixth area (second cellar area): When the Bros. enter the third scene, the beanhole is seen right away on the beige platform.
Sixth area (second cellar area): After the last bean, the player should head through the northwest exit. Once in the next scene, the beanhole is once again seen right away on the beige platform.
Sixth area (second cellar area): After the last bean, the player should head through the exit in the northeast. Once in the next scene, the beanhole is once again seen right away on the beige platform.
Sixth area (second cellar area): After the last bean, the player should head through the exit in the southeast. Once in the next scene, the player should head southeast to reach another beige platform with the beanhole.
Second area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): After using the pipe from the cellar, the Bros. return to the second area. The player should head northeast to the exit. In the next room, the player should keep going northeast until the purple block is reached. Activating this block opens the red gate and reveals the baby-only entrance. The player should go to the newly revealed entrance and use the Baby Drill to get inside. Once inside, the beanhole is seen right away. To get to it, the player should use Baby Drill on the fifth step.
Second area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): After the last bean, the player should head back to the main room through the southwest exit. The player should head south in this and the next 2 rooms. In the room after that the player should continue on the path. In the next room, the player should go through small arch in the northwest corner. Once in the another room, the player should keep going north through another arch. Once inside, the beanhole is seen right away, so the player should use the Baby Drill to get behind the bars to reach the beanhole.
Second area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): After the last bean, the player should head back through the southwest exit, continue south in this and another room. In the next 3 rooms, the player should head west, south and east (in that order). In the room after that, the player should continue along the path to reach the top-level of the courtyard area. Once outside, the player should keep going along the path until the hole in the wall is reached. The player should head inside. The beanhole is seen right away.
Second area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): In the same room, after the last bean, the player should head east. This beanhole is found on in the middle of the fourth column.
Third area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): After the third area is reached again but this time from the right side, the player should head southwest until the Bros. fall. After falling, the beanhole is seen behind the brothers.
Third area (after defeating giant Chain Chomp): After the last bean, the player should return to the pipe and head through the northwest exit. In the next scene, the player should head southwest, until 3 beanholes are seen in the south part of the room.
