List of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! songs

This article is under construction. Therefore, please excuse its informal appearance while it is being worked on. We hope to have it completed as soon as possible.

The following is a list of the various songs featured in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. The first forty-one episodes each contained one copyrighted song that was edited out in later airings, except for the first part of Jungle Love. The songs all remain intact in foreign dubs (except the Chinese dub), however.

SongsEdit

The Mario RapEdit

Main article: The Mario Rap

Before every live-action episode, The Mario Rap plays Mario and co. travel trough different lands on a magic carpet. This song serves as the intro to the show.

A shorter version of the song plays before every animated episode as Mario and Luigi get sucked down pipe into the Mushroom Kingdom.

The Mario Rap does not play in the first Italian dub, the Castilian Spanish dub, and the Korean dub, being replaced by different songs. It also does not play before Club Mario episodes, being replaced by Club Mario. In the French version, The Mario Rap replaces Do the Mario.

The song was dubbed into French, German, and Italian. While not dubbed, the Finnish and Swedish VHS versions have subtitles.

Super MarioEdit

Main article: Super Mario (song)

Super Mario serves as the intro to the show in the first Italian version and the Castilian Spanish version, despite the song originally being in Italian. The song contains various clips of episodes with the show's title, Super Mario, appearing at the end in the Italian version, while several credits appear in the Castilian Spanish version.

Super Mario is a real song by Italian singer Christina D'Avena, with the original song being longer than the one used in the show. Due to the song being as long as both versions of The Mario Rap combined, it only plays before every live-action episode with no replacement song being played before the animated segments.

Later Italian airings play a translated version of The Mario Rap instead.

Club MarioEdit

Club Mario played before every Club Mario episode, except online versions of "The Unzappables", replacing The Mario Rap.

Magic Carpet RideEdit

The song lasts for 1 minute and 9 seconds.

I love to dream
Yes, yes
Oh well, you don't know what... we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride?
You don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me?
Fantasy will set you free
Close your eyes, girl,
Look inside, girl,
Let the sound take you away

Last night I held Aladdin's lamp,
So I wish that could stay
Before the thing could answer me, well,
Someone took the lamp away
You don't know what... we can find
Why don't you come with me little girl
On a magic carpet ride?
Well, you don't know what we can see
Why don't you tell your dreams to me
Fantasy will set you free
Close your eyes, girl,
Look inside, girl,
Let the sound take you away

The Power of LoveEdit

The song lasts for 49 seconds.

The power of love is a curious thing
Make-a one man weep;
Make another man sing
Change your heart to a little white dove
More than a feelin'
That's the power of love!

It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes,
Might just save your life
That's the power of love!

Shut DownEdit

The song lasts for 1 minute and 30 seconds.

Tach it up, tach it up, buddy gonna shut you down
It happened on the strip where the road is wide (Rev it up now)
Two cool shorts standin' side by side (Rev it up now)
Yeah, my fuel-injected stingray and a four-thirteen (Rev it up now)
Revvin' up our engines and it sounds real mean (Rev it up now)
Tach it up, tach it up, buddy gonna shut you down
Declinin' numbers at an even rate (Movin' out now)
At the count of one we both accelerate (Movin' out now)
My stingray is light, the slicks are startin' to spin (Movin' out now)
But the four-thirteen's really diggin' in (Movin' out now)
Gotta be cool now, power shift, here we go

Superstock Dodge is windin' out in low
But my fuel-injected stingray's really startin' to go
To get the traction, I'm ridin' the clutch
My pressure plate's burnin', that machine's too much

Pedal's to the floor, hear the dual quads drink (Pump it up now)
And now the four-thirteen's really startin' to shrink (Pump it up now)
He's hot with ram induction, but it's understood (Pump it up now)
I got a fuel-injected engine sittin' under my hood (Pump it up now)
Shut it off, shut it off, buddy now I shut you down
Shut it off, shut it off, buddy now I shut you down

Born to be wild

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah, darlin', gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace

Explode into space
Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never want to die
Born to be wild

Part 1

You shook my nerves and you rattled my brain
Too much-a love drives a man insane
You broke my will,
But what a thrill
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!
I laughed at love, though I thought it was funny
You came along and moved me, honey
I change my mind
This love is fine
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!
Kiss me, baby
Feels good!
Hold me, baby
I wants to love you like a lover should
You're fine
So kind
I'd like to tell this world that you're mine, mine, mine, mine!

Part 2

Somethin' evil's lurking in the dark
You start to breathe
As horror looks you right between the eyes;

You know it's thriller

You're fighting for your life inside a... killer, thriller tonight

And though you fight to stay alive, your body starts to quiver
For no mere mortal can resist the evil of the thriller

And he sings

They're givin' you a number
And takin' way your name
Swingin' on the riviera one day
And then layin' in Bombay fate... alley next day
I know you let the wrong words slip
While kissing persuasive lips
The odds are you won't live to see tomorrow

Rockin' RobinEdit

This song was covered by Stephen R. Cheney.

He rocks in the treetop all-a day long
Hoppin' and-a boppin' and-a singin' his song
All the little birds on Jay Bird Street
Love to hear the robin go, "Tweet, tweet, tweet."
Rockin' robin
Rock-rock-rockin' robin
Blow rockin' robin cause we're really gonna rock tonight
Every little swallow,
Every chickadee,
Every little bird in the tall oak tree,
The wise old owl,
The big black crow,
Flappin' their wings singin', "Go, bird, go!"
Rockin' robin
Rock-rock-rockin' robin
Blow rockin' robin cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Splish SplashEdit

The song lasts for 1 minute and was covered by The Countdown Singers.

Splish splash, I was takin' a bath
Long about a Saturday night (Yeah!)
A rub dub, just relaxin' in the tub
Thinkin' everything was alright
Well, I just stepped out of the tub
Put my feet on the floor
I wrapped the towel around me and I open the door and then a...
Splish splash
I jump back in the bath
Well how was I to know there a party goin' on?
There was-a splishin' and-a splashin',
Reelin' with the feelin',
Movin' and-a groovin',
Rockin' and-a rollin'
Yes, yeah!

Do you believe in magic
In a young girl's heart?
How the music can free her whenever it starts
And it's magic
If the music is groovy,
It makes you feel happy like an old time movie
I'll tell you 'bout the magic, I can free your soul,
But it's like tryna tell a stranger 'bout a... rock and roll-oll
If you believe in magic,
Don't bother to choose if it's jug band music or rhythm and blues
Just go and listen
It'll start with a smile
That won't wipe off your face no matter how hard you try
Your feet start tappin' and can't seem to find
How you got there,
So just blow your mind

The Jolly Green GiantEdit

Just stands there laughin' with his hands on his hips and he hits you with the can of beans

The cat stands tall and green (Spinach!)
Well he ain't no prize and there's no woman his size
And that's why the cat's so mean!

So beat it,
Just beat it
You better run, you better do what you can
Don't want to see no blood, don't be a macho man
You want to be tough, better do what you can,
So beat it,
But you want to be bad
Just beat it (Beat it)
Beat it (Beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right,
Just beat it (Beat it)
Beat it (Beat it)
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky and strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right,
Just-

All the paintings on the tomb
They do the sand dance, don'tcha know
If you move too quick (Oh, way oh)
They fallin' down like a domino
All the bazaar men by the Nile
Got their money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (Oh, way oh)
Teeth on a cigarette
Foreign types with the hookah pipes say "Way oh, way oh"
"Way oh, way oh"
Walk like an Egyptian
All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (Oh, way oh)
They walk the line like Egyptians
All the cops in the donut shop say "Way oh, way oh"
"Way oh, way oh"
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

He's a RebelEdit

This song was covered by The Memory Lane.

He's a rebel and he'll never, never be any good
He's a rebel cause he never, never does what he should
Just because he doesn't do what... everybody else does
That's no reason why I can't give him all my love
He is always good to me
Always treats me tenderly
He's not a rebel no, no, no
He's not a rebel no, no, no
To me!
Cause he's not a rebel no, no, no
He's not a rebel no, no, no
To me (He's not a rebel no, no, no)
Oh no (He's not a rebel no, no, no)
No, no, no (He's not a rebel no, no, no)
No, no, no

That's what I want (That's what I want)
Oh yeah,
That's what I want
Your love can give me a thrill,
But your lovin' don't pay my bills
Now give me money (That's what I want)
That's what I want (That's what I want)
That's what I want (That's what I want)
Oh yeah,
That's what I want
Money don't get everything; it's true
What it don't get, I can't use
Now give me money (That's what I want)

One, two, three o'clock,
Four o'clock rock
Five, six, seven o'clock,
Eight o'clock rock
Nine, ten, eleven o'clock,

We're gonna rock... around... the clock tonight
Put your glad rags on
Join me, hon'
Have some fun when the clock strikes one
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til the broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight
When the clock strikes two, three, and four
If the band slows down, we'll yell for more
We're gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til the broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight

When the chimes ring five, six, and seven
We'll be rockin' at the seven heaven
Gonna rock around the clock tonight
We're gonna rock, rock, rock, 'til the broad daylight
We're gonna rock, gonna rock, around the clock tonight

Kung Fu FightingEdit

The song lasts for 54 seconds.

Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening,
But they fought with expert timing
They were funky China men
From funky China Town
They were choppin' 'em up
They were choppin' 'em down
It's an ancient Chinese art,
And everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip
And a kicking from the hip
Everybody was kung fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightening,
But they fought with expert timing
