The following is a list of Mario-related sightings and references in the Internet. This list does not include fan-made works dedicated to the Mario franchise and its games, nor does it include walkthroughs of Mario games. This list does not include anything with pornography, sex, blood, gore, or other adult-only content.

Games

Abobo's Big Adventure

• During the intro, Birdo and a Podoboo among others could appear at the door before scrolling up to Abobo.
• In Double Drabobo, Goombas are common enemies, Donkey Kong appears as a mid-level boss, Donkey Kong Jr. appears right after defeating Donkey Kong, and Raccoon Mario & Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad all appear at a "private party".
• Super Mabobo is based on the water levels from Super Mario Bros., Cheep-Cheeps, Bloopers, Porcupuffers, and Trouters all appear as enemies in this level.
• In Urban Chabobo, Abobo enters the stage via Warp Pipe.
• In Zeldabobo, Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, and Flurries appear as enemies. In addition, Toad appears as a easter egg saying "Thank you Abobo, but our princess is in another dungeon". Toad is then killed with a Bullet Bill by Abobo.
• During the Balloon Fight level before Pro Wrabobo, Lakitu appears as an enemy.
• In Mega Mabobo, Spiranhas are Piranha Plants heads on springs, Punkins shoot Podoboos, and Crankies shoot the viruses at Abobo.
• In Contrabobo, when Kirby is defeated, Wart is among the items that Kirby throws up. Also, during a flashback with Doc Louis, Little Mac is seen punching Luigi.
• In Punch Abobo, Mario again appears as the referee. In addition, when Little Mac becomes Big Mac, among the power-ups that he grabs are a Megavitamin and a Super Mushroom.
• During the ending, Little Mac's head goes flying through many NES games before landing on the flagpole from Super Mario Bros.. Aboboy is later shown strangling Mario with his own intestines. It is later shown that the game was all dreamt up by Abobo, in a reference to Super Mario Bros. 2.

Adventure Time: Legends of Ooo

When the player examines mushrooms, Jake wonders whether he will grow or not if he eats them.

Bullet Bill series

This series of 3 games stars a Bullet Bill as the main character, smashing through Brick Blocks and enemies such as Goombas and Koopa Troopas. The first game uses sprites from Super Mario Bros., and the next two use Super Mario Advance sprites. The third game also uses Koopaling and Bowser sprites from Super Mario Bros. 3, and has Birdo, a Chain Chomp, a Super Koopa, and a Pidgit Bill as playable characters.

DragonFable

In the guardian tower at Oaklore, if the person browsing touches one of the piles of barrels, a bubble will pop up and say: "These barrels are inscribed with D.K. Jr."

Henry Stickmin series

From Stealing the Diamond onward, this Stickpage-based series has various Mario references.

Stealing the Diamond

In the Epic ending, when Henry makes it to the diamond, only to find some night guards, a Super Mushroom, obtaining its appearance from Super Mario Bros., is one of the options Henry can choose. Also, a stick Luigi makes a cameo in a photo. Finally, a heavy metal version of the final boss theme from Super Mario 64 plays if Henry chooses the Super Mushroom.

Infiltrating the Airship

In the Government Supported Private Investigator ending, when Henry opens the cargo bay door at the Toppat Clan's airship, and chooses a Banana Bomb to evade the two guards at the cargo bay, the resulting fail screen will display text that reads "Ooooh BANANA!". If clicked on, the "Ooooh, banana!" voice clip from Donkey Kong 64 will play, and a Golden Banana will appear, retaining its appearance from said game.

Additionally, in the Pure Blooded Thief ending, when Henry gets stranded at the center of one of the propellers at the airship, a Green Shell is one of the options Henry can choose.

Fleeing The Complex

In the Ghost Inmate ending, when Henry tries to enter a glassed-out room, a Power Jump is one of the options Henry can choose.

Also in the Ghost Inmate ending, when Henry makes his way outside to the docks where two guards are waiting, a Super Leaf (known simply as a Leaf in the game) is one of the options Henry can choose. It also transforms Henry into Raccoon Henry.

Additionally, in the Presumed Dead ending, when Henry is skidding down the main corridor while Russian-speaking guards prepare to ambush him, an Item, resembling an Item Box, is one of the options Henry can choose. The items the roulette cycles through are a Banana, a Green Shell, and bruUGHNO before finally landing on a Boo, which Henry uses to evade the guards.

I Wanna Be The Guy

Bowser, Wart and a robotic version of Birdo called Mecha Birdo appear as bosses in the game I Wanna Be The Guy. During the battle with Mecha Birdo, Beezos appear as enemies. At the battle with Bowser, he appears riding in the Koopa Clown Car. If the player enters in a hole in the wall of the "Room of Divine Transportation", The Kid will enter in a room with a Snifit, which will start firing Bullet Bills using a Bill Blaster at him. In The Guy, the castle of "The Guy", in the "Hall of Former The Guys", pictures states that Bowser was the first Guy to ever held the title of "The Guy". Also, when a block breaks, the sound of when Mario break a block at Super Mario Bros. is heard.

Kingdom Of Loathing

A battle with a Goomba. The description references the movie.

In the game there is a zone called the "8-Bit Realm", where there are various enemies from the NES-era for the player to kill, including Bob-ombs, Koopa Troopas, and Goombas. Also, some items that the player can buy makes reference to Mario in the description, name and use.

Mari0

Mari0 is a PC game that combines elements of Super Mario Bros. and Portal. The player controls Mario who has a portal gun which can be used to teleport the player, enemies, and objects. The game includes a Super Mario Bros. map-pack, a Portal map-pack, a Level Editor, and the ability to add downloaded map-packs to the game.

New Super Chick Sisters

This 2010 flash game is the sequel of Super Chick Sisters, to protest against various fast food chains once again. The characters in the game mimic the appearance of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Bowser and the setting is similar to World 1 from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Unlike "Mario Kills Tanooki", the protest isn't directly aimed at the Mario series. It can be played here.

Roblox

There are 5 hats and 1 gear based on elements from the Mario series.

• The first hat is called "Mario Fan", which is Toad's cap. The description says "It's-a me, Mario", based on Mario's quote from Super Mario 64.
• The second hat is called "Super Mushroom". The description says "Did you know the Super Mario theme has lyrics?! True story."
• The third hat called "Eight Bit Wonder", which resembles Mario's Cap.
• The fourth hat is called "Turtle Shell", which looks like Bowser and Bowser Jr.'s shell.
• The fifth hat is called "Extinct Egg of Dino On Ice", which looks exactly just like Yoshi's egg.
• The gear called "8-Bit Throwing Barrel" resembles Donkey Kong's barrels from the Donkey Kong arcade.

Sam's Arm Wrestling Challenge

This game has an almost identical gameplay of Dr. Mario. To play it, the player must line three pellets (they come into red, blue and yellow colors) with smiling balls that act like Viruses.

Snail Bob 3

One of the Paintings in the Gallery is Bob wearing a hat with a B on it like Mario's Hat. There is also a Piranha Plant next to him.

Super Chick Sisters

In their campaign against fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), PETA made a site called kentuckyfriedcruelty.com, where the player can play a game called Super Chick Sisters. This game is mostly based on New Super Mario Bros..

The two main characters are chickens called Chickette and Nugget, and wear the same caps as Mario and Luigi, respectively. In this game, Colonel Sanders (the founder of the KFC franchise) kidnaps Princess Pam (based on the actress Pamela Anderson, who wears the same dress as Princess Peach. Also, Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Koopa Troopa and Dr. Mario appear in the game, and a Bowser mask is worn by the final boss. In their campaign against McDonald's, PETA also made a game based on Mario at the site mccruelty.com called New Super Chick Sisters. Super Chick Sisters can be played here.

Super Mario Remaker

This game was a downloadable game that was a remade version of Super Mario Maker for the computer. It also had exclusive features like Rex and customizing costumes for Costume Mario. It was later taken down by Nintendo.

Super Tanooki Skin 2D

Super Tanooki Skin 2D is a parody flash game, starring the character Tanooki, a skinless animal who is chasing Mario to get his skin back. The game has the player dodge obstacles by jumping à la Mario. Mario is wearing his skin and flying ahead of Tanooki. The game was released online by PETA to call attention to this issue. The game title refers to Super Mario 3D Land (the flash game has been uploaded soon after its release).

Stinkoman 20X6

• The game features its very own version of the Minus World, Level -0, "NEGATORY". Unlike the Minus World, it is beatable and part of the game, but is far glitchier than Minus World.
• "Fiery-Hot" from the Saargtsson battle, which is an exact copy of the cannon's blasts in the Airship levels of Super Mario Bros. 3
• "Old Sage" looks similar to spikes found in The Moon level of Super Mario Land 2. "Liekand", a boss, is very similar in appearance to Fryguy from Super Mario Bros. 2 (the fact that Liekand is a mouse that wears sunglasses is another inside reference, as Mouser is also a mouse that wears sunglasses).
• The Stinkomanual's story tells the player not to "expect any weepy Princess crap".

This is the Only Level TOO

One of the levels is titled World 1-2, and to get past it, the character must break two top ceiling blocks and jump on top of the ceiling. After going right enough, there will be a large room that has three Warp Pipes (all of them have the number two on them), and pixelated words that say "WELCOME TO THE WARP ZONE", an obvious reference to the Warp Zone.

Super PiCO World

PiCO, the main character, in World 1-1.

Planning Center Online uses a Mario-based game entitled Super PiCO World as a hidden form of entertainment. There is a single level, the layout of which is identical to World 1-1 from Super Mario Bros., with everything redesigned slightly, such as PiCO replacing Mario and webpages replacing Warp Pipes.

The Annoying Orange

• In the episode "Super Mario", Mario goes to Bowser's Castle, but finds that it is empty, then goes to the area where Toad would usually be, and finds Orange. After being annoyed for a while, Mario is eventually hit by a Bullet Bill. Afterwards, Orange reveals that he saved Peach and Toad hours ago, and that he "defeated" Bowser by annoying him until Bowser got angry and left.
• Another episode depicted Orange and a mushroom annoying other foods, and at the end, Orange exclaimed to the mushroom, "Mario!" Mario then jumps onto the counter and eats the mushroom. Orange then complains to Mario, but soon cheers up. After that Mario says that he wants a Frog Suit causing a nearby frog's eyes to widen.
• In another episode called Annoying Orange Vs. Mario Kart, Orange spits on a race track, causing Mario to crash into the side of the track, breaking his legs. Orange then laughs about it, stopping when he realizes that Mario is injured. After that, Bowser's, Donkey Kong's, Yoshi's, Luigi's, Princess Peach's, Koopa Troopa's and Toad's karts slip on the mess, causing them all to also crash into the side of the racetrack, blowing up them all. Orange, not wanting to get in trouble flees. Lakitu then comes on the scene. When he sees the damage, he gets sick on the track.
• A spin-off episode was made which was called Grapefruit Vs. Donkey Kong. It starts off with Passion Fruit being kidnapped by Donkey Kong. She asks Grapefruit, who is at the bottom of the 25m stage to help her, saying that she's only asking because he's the only one there. Grapefruit then attempts to climb the first ladder. However, his weight on the ladder collapses the whole stage, knocking down Donkey Kong and causing him to explode in the oil barrel. Passion Fruit lands next to Grapefruit, who asks for a kiss. Passion Fruit hits Grapefruit, who says that that's close.
• In Annoying Orange - Copper Lincoln: Let's Play Some Some Video Games Tonight (Song), Donkey Kong and a parody of Super Mario Bros. called Cat Mario is shown.
• In MINECRAFT TNT VOLCANO! - This Week In Orangecraft #4, in the "Blockstar" section, sculptures of an 8-bit Mario and a Mushroom are shown, by someone called Eyebral.

Beatdownboogie

Beatdownboogie has started a realistic parody series based off of Mario called Mario Warfare, centering the story in a modern warfare style. There are eight episodes in total. As the story goes, Bowser invades the Mushroom Castle and kills the entire Toad military. Toad himself manages to take down many of Bowser's Shy Guys to defend Princes Peach and take her to a safe haven, just before getting shot by "Bill", a parody of Bullet Bill. Plumbers/brothers Mario and Luigi find themselves in the middle of a war as they go from plumbers for the castle to soldiers alongside Peach and the Smash Club, a group of fighters who lost their kingdoms to Bowser and band together to avenge what was taken from them. Parodies of characters from both Mario and other Nintendo franchises who so far have appeared are Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Mushroom King, Bullet Bill, Shy Guy, Hammer Bros., Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, King K. Rool, Captain N, Link, Kirby, Ash, Pikachu, Little Mac, Ness, Kamek, and Solid Snake, Wario, Waluigi, and Dixie Kong.

• brentalfloss is a YouTuber who writes lyrics to the tune of video game music. He has given lyrics to many Mario themes: the ending theme from Super Mario Bros. 2, the athletic theme from Super Mario Bros. 3, the Fever theme from Dr. Mario, the Birabuto Kingdom theme from Super Mario Land, the main theme from Mario Paint, the athletic theme from Yoshi's Island, the ending credits theme from Super Mario World, the main themes from Luigi's Mansion and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, the Delfino Plaza theme from Super Mario Sunshine, the main overworld theme from Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, the Mario Kart Stadium theme from Mario Kart 8, and the main theme from Super Mario 3D World.

• Mario was also referenced many times in his music video "Nintendohemian Rhapsody" featuring Pat the NES Punk (a parody of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody"), by showing gameplay footage from Super Mario Bros. in several parts, saying the lyric "Mamma mia, mamma mia!" in an Italian accent (dressed as Mario), and showing strategy guides and cartridges for various Mario games, to name a few.
• In 2010, he advertised his debut CD, What If This CD... Had Lyrics?, in a video called "Official ScrewAttack "The CD is HERE!" Promo". In this video, he advertises his CD to the tune of the Birabuto Kingdom theme from Super Mario Land (which was later given lyrics over 2 years afterwards). In the same year, he also advertised his then-new T-shirt in a video called "Wear me on your boobs!", where he advertises the said T-shirt to the tune of the Secret Slide theme from Super Mario 64.
• He has also made other songs related to Mario that aren't based on video game music. "The 2-2 Blues" and "Super Mario Bros.: The Musical", for instance, are original compositions, and "Mushroom Kingdom" is a parody of "Sister Christian" by Night Ranger.
• On March 31st, 2015, brentalfloss released a "with lyrics" video for the Super Mario Bros. main theme, claiming that fans had requested it ever since 2008. However, as an April Fools' Day joke, he made the lyrics all in Japanese, with English-translated captions in the video.

• The series has mentioned several games of the Mario series a handful of times and has also used various Mario sound effects.

• Mario Kart: The Movie - Official Trailer HD - A trailer for a (made-up) movie based on Mario Kart 64. In the trailer, Luigi dies after racing at the Mario Grand Prix in a hospital, and Mario discovers that Wario is the one responsible for Luigi's death. Mario promises revenge against Wario racing against him in the Grand Prix, but falls in love with Princess Peach.
• Super Mario Interactive Adventure Game! - An interactive video where Mario must rescue Peach from Bowser, because Bowser wanted to have a date with her. The viewer must choose what Mario must do.
• Luigi's Mansion Interactive Adventure Game! - An interactive video parodying Luigi's Mansion, where Luigi is invited by Daisy to an encounter at a haunted mansion, but Luigi discovers that she has actually been kidnapped. The viewer must choose what Luigi is to do; if they decide that he must go directly to the mansion to rescue her, Luigi will find, among other things, a fake Daisy that is really Waluigi.
• Sh*t Princesses Say - A funny video where Princesses Peach and Daisy (the former of whom is portrayed by a male) are shown saying all sorts of random things.
• STOP TOADISM - Nintendo PSA - A public service announcement in which Toad explains "Toadism" (which is prejudice against the Toad species) and pleads for everyone to stop it. In addition to Toad himself, Toadette and Toadsworth are also portrayed in the video.
• Jersey Shore: Super Mario Bros. - A parody of the MTV reality show Jersey Shore, in which Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Bowser, Donkey Kong and Wario replace the original show's cast.
• THE BOWSER RAP - A rap made by Bowser whose lyrics are all "rah"s, some of which are censored.
• Kart - Official Trailer HD - A trailer for another (made-up) movie based on the Mario Kart series. Unlike the aforementioned Mario Kart: The Movie - Official Trailer HD trailer, the "movie" it "advertises" does not appear to be based directly on Mario Kart 64, as Daisy and Waluigi make appearances in the trailer (the former was not established as a Mario franchise regular, and the latter did not make his debut at all, until Mario Tennis 64). In addition, the trailer portrays a Bullet Bill, one item that was not used in the Mario Kart series until Mario Kart DS.
• Super Mario Zombie Bros. – A (made-up) game were Mario must use items to kill other zombified Mario characters and find Princess Peach. In the end, he turns out to be zombified himself, much to Princess Peach's horror.

Dude Perfect

• Ping Pong Trick Shots 3 – At one point, one of the hosts plays the opening to the Mario overworld theme on pots using ping pong balls.

Element Animation

• In The Crack! - ZOMBIE EGGS!, when Jason throws cheese at the Zombie Egg who eats it, he grows in size, making the sound Mario makes when he gets a Super Mushroom.
• In the video 500 Chunks (A Minecraft Parody of 500 Miles) , SethBling (who has a skin of Mario) is a member of the band and is playing a guitar.
• SethBling with his Mario skin also appears in The Rules of ANIMATING - Part 2. *SethBling also wears a Mario skin in the The Element Animation Villager Sounds Resource Pack (T.E.A.V.S.R.P) video.

Epic Rap Battles of History

• One of the raps was the Wright Brothers vs. the Mario Brothers. Beyond Mario and Luigi appearing as rappers (while being played by showrunners EpicLLOYD and Nice Peter) lyrics hold many references to Mario, such as Toad's line, Your Princess is in another castle, Donkey Kong, Mushrooms, 1-Up Mushrooms, Warp Pipes, Super Leaf, dashing by means of the B-button, 8-bit, POW Blocks, Bowser, and Bob-ombs.
• Another rap battle between Rasputin and Joseph Stalin began with Rasputin saying "Cool moustache, Wario".

Foursome

• In the pilot episode "Sister-Zoned", when Courtney takes Andie to pick a guy to pose as her fake boyfriend at high school, she says "It's on like Donkey Kong!"

Happy Tree Friends

• In False Alarm, The Mole is trapped in a flaming barrel and rolling towards Nutty. Nutty grabs a hammer and smashes the barrel similar to how Mario does in Donkey Kong.
• In Junk in the Trunk, Lifty throws a tortoise that belongs to Toothy at Lumpy. Here, it acts like a Spiny Shell.
• Also, the KA-POW! character Mouse Ka-Boom references Mouser from Super Mario Bros. 2.

Ian is Bored

• Mario-related objects can be spotted in several episodes of Ian is Bored, such as Mario and Peach in a kart toy based in Mario Kart Wii.

Jenna Marbles

• In Jenna Marbles's video "What Girls Do In The Car", she exclaims "Waluigi! Yeah, we gonna win!" in a Waluigi voice.

Luigi Wins by Doing Absolutely Nothing

A style of YouTube videos depicting Luigi in various Mario-related multiplayer games, such as the Mario Party and Super Smash Bros. series, where he wins minigames or matches against computer-controlled opponents by doing absolutely nothing (as the title implies). The original video depicts Luigi winning a series of minigames in Mario Party 2 by doing so.

• At the end of the video "Candy Crush The Movie (Official Trailer)", wherein Ryan and his friends portray smartphone game apps, a voice is heard saying "Looks like you guys should use some help." After Ryan (portraying the Candy Crush Saga app) asks who the speaker is, the latter reveals himself as Greg wearing a Mario costume and a sheathed sword on his back saying "It's-a me... Mario."
• In the video "Why Lamps!?", during the scene where the little lamp flies through the sky after his apparent "death", it flies through a line of coins on Brick Blocks and collects them.
• In "How To Act Like Your Favorite Actors", while doing an impression of Matthew McConaughey, Ryan says, "Sometimes you gotta go back to actually move forward. I don't mean that like some fancy metaphor, I mean literally, when you crash into one of those big ol' green tube things in Mario Kart, gotta press B and reverse a little, then you can keep goin'."

Rhett and Link

• As part of their morning talk show Good Mythical Morning, the hosts played a game which involved wearing Mario and Luigi costumes and answering trivia questions based on the Mario franchise. If the questionee answers the question correctly, they choose which of two ? Blocks they get to stand under, while if they answer incorrectly, the questioner chooses which block to stand under. One of the blocks has coins, while the other has a variety of gross junk. Although the hosts are usually the titular Rhett and Link, they were replaced for the one show by Game Grumps hosts Arin Hanson (who dressed as Mario) and Dan Avidan (who dressed as Luigi). The episode, titled "Super Mario Smash Block Challenge ft. Game Grumps", featured Dan coincidentally having stuff dumped on him in every round.

Sprite in-game

The two forms of Mario derivative "7 GRAND DAD", both of which reference Fred Flintstone due to the character's origins in a Flintstones bootleg game. "GRAND DAD" is one of the most frequently-recurring elements on the SiIvaGunner music channel.

• SiIvaGunner (formerly known as GiIvaSunner) is a YouTube collective known for uploading avant-garde remixes and parodies of video game songs, many of which are from the Mario series or contain elements from it (along with related series such as the Super Smash Bros. series). Additionally, several of the channel's major elements are Mario-related:
  • One of the "main characters" as depicted by the channel is a variation of Mario known as "7 GRAND DAD", who is depicted in two different forms: a recolored, off-model Mario sprite, and Fred Flintstone with Mario's head. The character originates from a bootleg Mario game known as “GRAND DAD 3M 原始瑪莉VII” (the Chinese translates to "Primitive Mario") that was in fact a minimally-edited version of The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy, with the odd Mario graphic originating from another Mario bootleg, Dian Shi Ma Li.
  • The "CG Rap" is a parody of the DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64 in which most of the lyrics are replaced with "coconut gun". Most other remixes and uses of the DK Rap on the channel are based on this parody and/or reference "coconut gun" in a similar style.
  • During the channel's "Christmas Comeback Crisis" story arc (a parody of the Kirby series), a false finale titled "Waluigi's Tacostand" was uploaded, which features the misadventures of Waluigi opening a taco stand and interacting with the channel's other characters.

• In the video Moonlight, a Mario flagpole like the one seen in the Mario-themed Minecraft mod appears in the background at one point.
• In Creeper Anger Issues, Dave the Zombie is playing a Mario-like game on a parody of a Gameboy called a Gameblock.
• In the video I Love My Minecraft World a character that looks like Mario is working in front of a Question Block.
• In Advanced Enchanting 101 a pig drinks a potion, growing large with a Mario sound effect.

Smosh

• Smosh's 2010 video "If Video Games Were Real" features a parody of Super Mario Bros.. Here, Ian (as Peach) tells Anthony (as Mario) that he must "pay up" if he wants to be with him. Anthony then proceeds to punch a Brick Block to get a Coin, but instead injures his hand and howls in pain, ending the segment by shouting "F**K!!!".
• In Smosh's video "REAL VOODOO DOLL!", the video starts with Anthony being frustrated by a Lakitu while playing Super Mario Bros.. Also, Mario plushes, a Super Mario Galaxy poster, and even an actual Lakitu (which Ian gets killed by in the end) are spottable in the episode.
• Several Mario-related objects are located around the house where most episodes take place, such as a painting of Yoshi and Yoshi Eggs.
• One of Smosh's licensed T-shirts is of Yoshi biting into a sign containing his name (in Mario-style font).
• Smosh's "REJECTED MARIO GAMES" video is entirely about (made-up) Mario games that were canceled due to their absurdity. Also, the beginning shows boxart of several past Mario games. Also, Mario Teaches Walking is a parody of Mario Teaches Typing and Mario's Mansion is a fictionalized alpha version of Luigi's Mansion, which (fictionally) shifted focus towards Luigi after Mario stated "This game sucks, give it to Luigi."
• In the episode "WE'RE IN SUPER MARIO!", Ian and Antony travel into Super Mario Bros. and ends being seriously injured. At the end of the video, Mario says that to see bloopers and behind the scenes content, the spectator must click in the link in the description of the video, and ends saying "Click in the subscribe button and win an extra life. I gotta save the princess so she can just get kidnapped again and then we will make five million more games bye!".
• In the episode "SEXTING GONE WRONG!", Mario appears as a random character to provide backup nude photos (with the threat of posting them online as part of a defense mechanism) and ends up dying of shock after seeing Anthony's photos.

• SuperFredrickNilsson is currently working on a video called Project 2014: Godzilla Vs Koopzilla. It will have the popular kaiju, Godzilla, invade the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser, who thinks Godzilla will invade his own kingdom, goes to stop him.

The Great Ape holding up a barrel like Donkey Kong.

TeamFourStar have made a few references to the Mario series throughout Dragon Ball Z Abridged.

• In Episode 2, Goku asks Piccolo if he is Yoshi due to them both being green and having been born from eggs.
• In Episode 2, when Gohan transforms into the Great Ape, music from Donkey Kong plays and he hoists a barrel up, much like Donkey Kong. When he transforms back into Gohan the power-down music from Super Mario Bros. is heard.

"Weird Al" Yankovic

• In an animated video promoting his album "Medium Rarities", Weird Al is seen playing an arcade game that is a spoof of Super Mario Bros. The video also contains Weird Al going down a Warp Pipe, with the same sound effect from Super Mario Bros.

YouTube Poop

YouTube Poop refers to a style of YouTube videos consisting of randomly edited clips from various sources, usually to nonsensical effect. Among the more popular sources are clips from the Mario animated series (particularly Super Mario World and its episode "Mama Luigi"), as well as cutscenes from Hotel Mario, although other Mario-related media (including the canon games) have been used as sources as well. The phenomenon became significant enough to be acknowledged by some of the creators behind the original material, such as screenwriter Phil Harnage and voice actor Marc Graue.

• On fredthemonkey.com, there are polls on the home page, which are frequently updated. The August 3rd, 2007 Poll asked what kind of genre a Fred the Monkey-themed video game should be. The fifth option is "Fred Teaches Typing", a reference to Mario Teaches Typing.

• Mailbag 30 - One of the E-Mails Sceb receives concerns him getting Mario Kart DS. *Later, Space Chicken enters bragging about his skills in the game, wearing a green cap backwards with a white L imprinted on it. Since then, the cap has appeared in the background of several cartoons on the website.

• Mailbag 31 - Concerning the events of the previous Mailbag, Sceb tries to get Space Chicken to come out with his Nintendo DS; apparently Space Chicken lost when he got poor items (he mentions getting several Green Shells and a single Mushroom while in fourth place). Space Chicken also shouts that Sceb snaked.

• Pumpkin Carve-nival - In this cartoon, The King of Town is dressed as Mario. When the toon is over, if he is clicked on, a secret minigame called "Super Kingio Bros." will be able to be played. The game however, is an obvious joke, as the player plays as the King of Town, who is too fat to hit any of the blocks or jump over the first Goomba. Also, when the King of Town learns that his pumpkin entry in the contest receives a "worst place" prize, he laments, "Sorry, king, but our princess is in another castle.". This is a reference to Super Mario Bros.. In the same toon, Bubs is dressed as Lou Albano.
• Halloween Potion-ma-jig - In this cartoon, the Cheat is dressed as Toad. At the end of the toon, clicking on him will have him mimicking Toad when he gets attacked in Mario Kart 64.
• Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 - The character Tompkins is apparently playing a Mario game on an old Game Boy during the cartoon. Tompkins says he "has Bowser on the ropes" and a red shell "pØwn"s So and So. Later on, the Ugly One says "Let's get it on like Diddy Kong".
• Halloween Fan Costumes '06 - One person dressed up as Homestar (who has his head visible from the costume) is next to a person in a Mario costume. Strong Bad says to the person "Wait a minute, Homestar, who's that in your mouth? Did you eat Luigi?". The real Homestar responds by saying "Yes Strong Bad, I ate Luigi. He tasted like mushrooms."
• The King of Town's Very Own Quite Popular Cartoon Show - The title character calls his men "Beezos".
• Weekly Fan Stuff - The weekly Fan Stuff featured on March 13, 2008 is a custom level from Super Smash Bros. Brawl shaped like Trogdor.
• Strong Bad E-Mail 22 - Before checking his email, Strong Bad hums the music from the first level of Donkey Kong.
• Most in the Graveyard - Strong Mad is dressed as a Thwomp.
• Super NES - This cartoon was made in Mario Paint. Also, the page title "Super Homestario Bros." references Super Mario Bros.
• Store Thank You Messages - The page title, "Thank you so much for to buying our crap!!" is a reference to the Super Mario 64 ending, where Mario says "Thank you so much for-a playing my game."
• Email Japanese cartoon - One of the NES endings in an Easter egg is the ending to Super Mario Bros. 2.
• Awexome Cross - The sound effects for jumping, crashing and collecting buxx are taken from Super Mario Bros.. The jump sound is the solid block hit sound, the crash sound is the Brick Block breaking sound and the buxx collect sound is the Coin collect sound.
• Email mile - During the parade for The Cheat, the rhythmic "song" heard is from Super Mario Bros. 3, which is played during the airship levels. Also, the exploding fireworks sound effect sounds like the sound effect created by the cannon fire and exploding Bob-ombs from these levels.
• Email pom pom - When Pom Pom is pounding Strong Bad, various sound effects from Super Mario Bros., such as the Coin collect sound and the 1-Up sound, are heard whenever Pom Pom connects.
• Duck Guardian - The falling robot heads resemble the original Thwomp and the eggs resemble Yoshi Eggs.
• Email redesign - Strong Bad is shown playing a videogame called "Sundae Driver". When he catches a cherry, a message that says "Cherry Get!" appears. This is a reference to the infamous broken English "Shine Get!" message found in the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine.
• Email comic (DVD Commentary) - In the Easter egg, Matt and Mike first mimic and then make reference to the 1-Up sound.
• Sbemail 150?!? - One of the storyboards of Strong Sad's email idea involves Homestar wearing a Snifit mask.
• Multiple Occurrences - The Horrible Painting (aka the "Rocoulm") gives people the "jibblies", which makes people jump around crazily in fright, by saying "Come on in heeeeere." in a similar way to King Boo in Super Mario 64.

Lego Cuusoo is a website where people submit their own Lego projects. If the project gets 10,000 supporters, it goes into a review. If it passes the review, the project will become an actual product and the maker will get 1% of the profit. One of the more popular projects was Mario-themed (which was archived due to rival company K'Nex owning the Mario license):

In "Real-life Bowsers Castle: Jump on this deal before Mario Does", David Cross has done the math on how tall, how wide, and how expensive Bowser's castle would be as it appears in Super Mario Bros. 3 in real-world terms. He published the results in a blog post and an infographic. Cross, in "Super Mario Bros: Cash in Your Dollars for 8-bit Gold", states that a single Coin would be worth $508,829.16 in real-world money.

In Natalie Grigson's article, Grigson calculated that Princess Peach's Castle is worth $950,972,940 in real-world money, not including the moat, land or paintings, and in another she priced Donkey Kong's Tree House at $3,800.

Randy Nelson's "The Real-World Price of Luigi’s Mansion", sets the mansion's price at $17,170,029. R. Nelson also did an article on "30 reasons to move to the Mushroom Kingdom". Bowser's Castle, Peach's Castle, Luigi's Mansion, and Donkey Kong's Tree House are among the buildings in R. Nelson's "15 Famous Video Game Houses Built With LEGO Bricks".

MS Paint Adventures (Homestuck)

On page 7681, during Act 6 Act 5 Act 1x2 of Homestuck, Andrew Hussie, speaking through the narrative prompt, likens Trickster Mode to Mario ("a small Italian plumber who goes on sideways adventures") using a Super Star to power through the levels. He argues that being able to "win" without any effort thanks to being rendered "magic and invincible" by the Star is "actually devastating to his development as a human being" because "Mario NEEDS to stomp on all those mushrooms. He NEEDS to bonk those bricks with his head, for the sake of his personal growth." Hussie then admits that "Maybe Mario isn't the best example" since he is a "one-dimensional friendly cartoon plumber" and thus isn't quite applicable to the Trickster Mode situation that befell the teenage protagonists of the story.

Heroes graphic novels pay tribute to Mario.

In the Heroes graphic novel Rebellion, Part 4, West, when asked about Monica, replies, "Princess is in another castle."

In another Heroes graphic novel, The Trip, Part 1, Hiro (a gaming enthusiast) has a hallucination that includes seeing a man (similar to Mario) in a large plumbing tube, and bricks with money it them. Later, he mentions Bowser, and then sees a man as a mushroom who says, "Our princess is in another castle".

In yet another Heroes graphic novel, From the Files of Primatech, Part 7 (which is set in 1991), Elle plays Super Mario Bros.

• On the Nyan Cat website, the music for Balloon Cat is the music for in the clouds in Super Mario Bros. 3.
• The option Nyan Coin has Nyan Cat with the body of a Coin instead of a Pop Tart.

• 'Super Mario Bros.' Is 25!: Released on the actual 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., it also features several "highlights", including Miyamoto fantasizing about having a pet ape that could throw barrels at the plumber who had yet to fix his toilet, the script for the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. being rewritten into Speed (as both star Dennis Hopper as the villain), and Mario celebrating his one hundred billionth death in 2005.

RiffTrax have also released a commentary for the Super Mario Bros. movie. DK Rap

The DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64 has been subject to numerous memetic parodies, which are largely attributable to its highly quotable and allegedly "cheesy" nature (which was intentional on the part of composer Grant Kirkhope). These parodies include citing and corrupting Lanky Kong's verse with emphasis on the word "he" (usually stylized as "HE"), as well as remixing the song in general, either to mock its lyrics or as a mashup with other songs (as has been done many times on SiIvaGunner's channel).

Expand Dong

Expand Dong is a reaction image depicting Donkey Kong's face from the boxart of Donkey Kong 64, with the eponymous phrase (formed from letters of the game's title) displayed below his face. The meme is strongly associated with a clip from the song "Our Love is Stronger Than a Golden Banana" from the Donkey Kong Country episode "Raiders of the Lost Banana", where DK sings "I'll shower you with coconut cream pies". Derivatives of the meme exist featuring other fictional characters and similar captions (which may be innuendos or otherwise).

Lotsa Spaghetti

Despite Hotel Mario's negative reception, a trend of memes followed years later, with Luigi's line I hope she made "Lotsa Spaghetti"being one of them. When Mario questions Luigi how nice it was of Princess Toadstool to invite them for a picnic, he responds with the phrase. As a meme, the phrase has been used often to poke fun at certain situations.

Luigi's Death Stare

Luigi's Death Stare refers to the angry, determined staring expression that Luigi occasionally shows in Mario Kart 8 when passing by opponents (though the expression is neither exclusive to him nor did it originate in Mario Kart 8). Originally brought to attention in user-uploaded clips of the game, Luigi's "death stare" grew in popularity when it was featured in the video "Luigi Ridin' Dirty", which set one of the aforementioned clips to the song "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire. Since then, the "death stare" was exploited by Nintendo themselves in a Japanese commercial for Mario Kart 8, and mentioned in the Nintendo Digital Event at E3 2014. It was later referenced in-game in Paper Mario: Color Splash and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle through Luigi's Steely Stare ability.

Mama Luigi

Mama Luigi is a meme who is based on the version of the character from the Super Mario World TV series episode of the same name. He wears a green hat, matching overalls, a blue shirt and has green eyes, that are sometimes cross eyed. His favorite food is bagels and his most recurring catchphrases are "Or is it the bagel?" and "That's Mama Luigi to you."

Weegee

Weegee is a widespread Internet meme based on the odd sprite of Luigi used for the MS-DOS version of Mario is Missing!, which appears to have an odd-looking stare and a hunched-over posture. This led to the creation of a vectorized image based on Luigi's sprite (pictured at right) that became the basis for the meme. The most common use of the exploitable is to edit "Weegee" or his face into pictures to create a sense of awkwardness and discomfort.
