The following is a list of Mario-related sightings and references on the Internet. This list does not include fan-made works dedicated to the Mario franchise and its games or content with pornography, sex, or other adult-based content that Nintendo has not acknowledged, nor does it include walkthroughs of Mario games.

Games

Abobo's Big Adventure

• During the intro, Birdo and a Podoboo may appear at the door before scrolling up to Abobo.
• In Double Drabobo, Goombas are common enemies, Donkey Kong appears as a mid-level boss, and Donkey Kong Jr. appears right after defeating Donkey Kong. Raccoon Mario and Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad all appear at a "private party".
• Super Mabobo is based on the water levels from Super Mario Bros. Cheep-Cheeps, Bloopers, Porcupuffers, and Trouters appear as enemies in this level.
• In Urban Chabobo, Abobo enters the stage via Warp Pipe.
• In Zeldabobo, Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, and Flurries appear as enemies. In addition, Toad appears as a easter egg, saying "Thank you Abobo, but our princess is in another dungeon". He is then killed with a Bullet Bill by Abobo.
• During the Balloon Fight level before Pro Wrabobo, Lakitu appears as an enemy.
• In Mega Mabobo, Spiranhas resemble Piranha Plant heads on springs, Punkins shoot Podoboos, and Crankies shoot viruses.
• In Contrabobo, when Kirby is defeated, Wart is among the items that Kirby throws up. Also, during a flashback with Doc Louis, Luigi is seen getting punched by Little Mac.
• In Punch Abobo, Mario appears as a referee as he did in Punch Out!!. In addition, when Little Mac becomes Big Mac, among the power-ups that he grabs are a Megavitamin and a Super Mushroom.
• During the ending, Little Mac's head goes flying through many NES games before landing on the Super Mario Bros. flagpole. Abobo is later shown strangling Mario with his own intestines. It is later shown that the game was all dreamt up by Abobo, in a reference to Super Mario Bros. 2.

Adventure Time: Legends of Ooo

When the player examines mushrooms, Jake wonders whether he will grow or not if he eats them.

DragonFabl

In the guardian tower at Oaklore, if the person browsing touches one of the piles of barrels, a bubble will pop up and say: "These barrels are inscribed with D.K. Jr."

Habbo

• The interior of the Game Hub is designed after Super Mario Bros.
• As part of the "Pro Gamer Bundle", players can obtain Gamer Plushies designed after Mario and Link, as well as a "HabboStation Portable", a console that is named after the PlayStation Portable but is actually based on the Nintendo Switch.

Henry Stickmin series

Stealing the Diamond

• In the Epic ending, when Henry makes it to the diamond only to find some night guards, a Super Mushroom from Super Mario Bros. is one of the options Henry can choose. A heavy metal version of the final boss theme from Super Mario 64 plays if Henry chooses it. Also, a stick Luigi makes a cameo in a photo.

Infiltrating the Airship

• In the Government Supported Private Investigator ending, when Henry opens the cargo bay door at the Toppat Clan's airship and chooses a Banana Bomb to evade the two guards at the cargo bay, the resulting fail screen will display text that reads "Ooooh BANANA!". If clicked on, the "Ooooh, banana!" voice clip from Donkey Kong 64 will play, and a Golden Banana from said game will appear.

• Additionally, in the Pure Blooded Thief ending, when Henry gets stranded at the center of one of the propellers at the airship, a Green Shell is one of the options Henry can choose.

Fleeing the Complex

• In the Convict Allies ending, when Henry and Ellie try to sneak past two conversing guards, Bounce Bros. is one of the options they can choose.

• In the Ghost Inmate ending, when Henry tries to enter a glassed-out room, a charge jump is one of the options Henry can choose. Additionally, when Henry makes his way outside to the docks where two guards are waiting, a Super Leaf (known simply as a Leaf in the game) is one of the options Henry can choose. It also transforms Henry into Raccoon Henry.

• Furthermore, in the Presumed Dead ending, when Henry is skidding down the main corridor while Russian-speaking guards prepare to ambush him, an Item, resembling an Item Box, is one of the options Henry can choose. The items the roulette cycles through are a Banana, a Green Shell, and Shoop da Whoop before finally landing on a Boo, which Henry uses to evade the guards.

Completing the Mission

• The Toppat Clan's treasure boxcar has a Coin engraved on its sides, as seen in the Capital Gains, Cleaned 'em Out, and Little Nest Egg endings.

• In the Capital Gains ending, as the Right Hand Man tries to thwart Henry and Ellie's attempts to steal the treasure boxcar, "Shell Bounce" is one of Henry's options. When used, Henry and Ellie engage the Green Shell Bros. Attack.

• In the Free Man ending, when Henry attempts to break out of his cell on the Toppat rocket, a Metal Cap (known as a Metal Hat in-game) is one of the options he can choose.

• In the Jewel Baron ending, when Henry is inside the Toppat rocket, Teleporter is one of the options. Once he smashes it to the ground, he is rapidly teleported to various areas; a game of Dr. Mario and a Thwomp can be briefly seen. Furthermore, once it stops teleporting Henry, of the many items in the vault, a Super Star can be seen. When Henry collects the emerald and gets caught by the Toppat Leader's Right Hand Man, Chance Time is one of the options Henry can use.

• In both the Pardoned Pals and Toppat Recruits endings, when a blast from a cannonball demolishes the side of the boarding zone to the Toppat rocket and nearly causes Henry to fall, a Note Block (known simply as a Block in-game) is one of the options he can choose.

• In the Special BROvert Ops ending, when Henry makes it to the Hall of Leaders after jamming the rocket's engine, a Painting (known as a Painting Portal in-game) is one of the options he can choose. If chosen, Henry will enter "Kensington's Chamber" and autoselect the mission "The Mischievous Boss" in a complete nod to Super Mario 64. Henry is then shot at the moment he starts the mission, causing him to lose all of the points to his Health Meter and get a Game Over. As a final nod, the fail screen text reads, "Gotta collect more of those extra life mushrooms."

• In the Stickmin Space Resort ending, when Henry uses his electric scooter to reach the Toppat rocket in time, a Dash Panel is one of his options for evading two Toppat members. If he chooses said option, he does a trick and is obliterated almost immediately afterward by a Spiny Shell.

• In the Toppat Civil Warfare ending, when Henry attempts to break out the Toppat members remaining loyal to him, "Toppy" (a clone of Cappy) is one of the options he can choose. If chosen, Henry captures the Toppat prison guard.

• In the Toppat King ending, when Henry and the Right Hand Man engage in a team-up attack, Stylish Move (known as Style on 'em in-game) is one of the options they can choose. In the same ending, when the rocket launches while Henry is still stranded on the ground, a Lakitu's Cloud is one of the options he can choose to return to the rocket.

• In the Triple Threat ending, when Henry and Ellie are shot to ground level and think of a method to reach the rocket in time, "Swap" is one of the options they can choose. As they swap, the sound effect for swapping characters in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest plays. At the same point, the fail screen from the "Throw" option is "So long-eh, Henry!", in reference to the "So long, King-a Bowser!" quote from Super Mario 64. Also at the same point, a Barrel Cannon (known simply as a Barrel in-game) is one of Henry's options. Once inside the rocket, if Henry and Ellie choose Diversion to distract members of Toppat Clan and begin to move on after dancing, Mario and Luigi (named simply as Marty O. and Louie G. in-game) can be seen dancing along.

I Wanna Be The Guy

• Bowser, Wart and a robotic version of Birdo called Mecha Birdo appear as bosses. During the battle with Mecha Birdo, Beezos appear as enemies.
• In one area inside the Room of Divine Transportation, there is a Snifit which operates a Bill Blaster that shoots Bullet Bills.
• In the Hall of Former The Guys, Bowser is stated to have been the first Guy to ever hold the title of "The Guy".
• When a block breaks, the sound of when Mario breaks a block in Super Mario Bros. is heard.

Kingdom of Loathing

A battle with a Goomba. The description references the movie.

• Bloopers, Koopa Troopas, and Goombas appear in the 8-bit Realm, using their Super Mario Bros. sprites. Bob-ombs and Boos are fought in Anger Man's Level and Regret Man's Level, respectively.
  • After completing the Naughty Sorceress Quest once and ascending, Buzzy Beetles replace Goombas in the 8-Bit Realm, a reference to the "new quest" in Super Mario Bros.
• Some items reference the Mario franchise in their description, name, and use. Examples include "The Plumber's Mushroom Stew" and a Fire Flower. The "Whirling Maple Leaf" familiar may sprinkle the player with Maple Syrup to restore their MP, a possible reference to Paper Mario.

Mari0

Mari0 is a PC game that combines elements of Super Mario Bros. and the Portal series. As Mario, the player wields a portal gun which generates portals that warp the player, enemies, and objects to other areas.

Poptropica

• On Game Show Island, "Bowser" is the correct answer to a question in the Braniacs! trivia game. The question reads: "When he's not busy capturing Princess Peach, this spikey-shelled villain finds time to race go-karts against Mario and his friends." Incorrect answers include "Donkey Kong", "Luigi", and "Toad".

Roblox

The game has five hats and one gear based on elements from the Mario franchise.

• The first hat is called "Mario Fan", which is Toad's cap. The description states "It's-a me, Mario", based on one of Mario's quotes from Super Mario 64.
• The second hat is called "Super Mushroom". The description states "Did you know the Super Mario theme has lyrics?! True story."
• The third hat called "Eight Bit Wonder", which resembles the Mario Cap.
• The fourth hat is called "Turtle Shell", which looks like Bowser and Bowser Jr.'s shell.
• The fifth hat is called "Extinct Egg of Dino On Ice", which looks identical to a Yoshi's egg.
• The gear called "8-Bit Throwing Barrel" resembles Donkey Kong's barrels from the Donkey Kong arcade game.

Super Chick Sisters

As part of their campaign against fast food chain Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), PETA published a satirical New Super Mario Bros.-inspired game called Super Chick Sisters on their kentuckyfriedcruelty.com website. The game's main characters mimic the appearances of Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach, with the final boss Colonel Sanders wearing a Bowser mask. Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Koopa Troopa and Dr. Mario themselves also appear in the game in various cutscenes.

New Super Chick Sisters

For a campaign against fast food franchise McDonald's, a sequel titled New Super Chick Sisters was released in 2010 on PETA's mccruelty.com website. The game's gameplay, characters and settings are once again inspired by the Mario franchise, with several Mario characters appearing in it as well.

Super Mario ReMaker

Super Mario ReMaker was a remade version of Super Mario Maker for PC. The game had exclusive features such as the Rex enemy and the ability to customize costumes for Costume Mario. It has since been taken down by Nintendo.

Super PiCO World

PiCO, the main character, in World 1-1

Planning Center Online features a promotional game entitled Super PiCO World. It is a recreation of the first two levels of Super Mario Bros. with alterations to the gameplay and characters; the game replaces Mario with the company's mascot, PiCO, and is set in a world with various corporate-themed elements, such as folder-shaped power-ups and computer windows of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel acting as Warp Pipes.

Super Tanooki Skin 2D

Super Tanooki Skin 2D is a parody Flash game starring Tanooki, a skinless Japanese raccoon dog who is chasing Mario to get his skin back. The game has the player jump over obstacles to dodge them as they chase Mario. The game was released online by PETA to call attention to the practice of live skinning raccoon dogs in China and the supposed promotion of this practice by Nintendo's then recently-released game, Super Mario 3D Land, which features a power-up that gives Mario a Tanooki suit.

Stinkoman 20X6

• The game references the Minus World through Level -0, "NEGATORY".
• "Fiery-Hot" from the Saargtsson battle is an exact copy of the cannon's blasts in the Airship levels of Super Mario Bros. 3
• "Old Sage" looks similar to spikes found in the Moon level of Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins.
• The Stinkomanual's story tells the player not to "expect any weepy Princess crap".

This is the Only Level TOO

• One of the level's iterations references World 1-2 of Super Mario Bros. In order to advance, the character must break two blocks in the ceiling and jump above it, then walk to the right as they access a Warp Zone-like area with pipes that lead to the next iteration.

0.5x A Presses / But first, we need to talk about Parallel Universes / Scuttlebug Jamboree

0.5x A Presses is an Internet meme that circulated around 2016 regarding a certain video that concerns the stage in the Hazy Maze Cave stage in Super Mario 64. In the video, Super Mario 64 player pannenkoek2012 describes how to complete the objective Watch for Rolling Rocks in half button presses. The video is well known for its absurdly complex analysis of the physics of Super Mario 64 and the technical manipulation of the game. A comment by user TJ "Henry" Yoshi, "An A press is an A press, you can't say it's only a half.", has also been highlighted as a catchphrase associated with the video. Popularized phrases from the video itself include "Misaligned QPU" and "building up speed for 12 hours." The video comes in two variants, with one being commentated by pannenkoek2012 himself and the other without the commentary.

Bowsette

Bowsette is a meme which depicts Bowser using the Super Crown power-up (which, contradictory to the meme and its derivatives, can only be used by Toadette and cannot affect any other characters, Bowser himself included) to transform into a Princess Peach lookalike, stemming from a comic posted on Twitter and DeviantArt by user ayyk92 on September 19, 2018. In the comic, Bowser uses the power-up after he and Mario are rejected in marriage proposal by Peach in Super Mario Odyssey's ending, with the implication that the resulting Princess Peach lookalike got into a relationship with Mario (depicted as being during Mario Tennis Aces). The comic became immensely popular, after which the name "Bowsette" was appended to the character (despite not following Peachette's naming structure properly), to the point of the Peachette page being MarioWiki's most-visited page for a time, followed by associated pages, and the meme being the #1 trend on Twitter of Japan. It spawned a large amount of parodies, permutations, and fan art, and ayyk92 went from just 78 followers to over 50,000 after posting the comic, having garnered over 1000 within a single day.

The artist later made a sequel due to the popularity, featuring the transformed Bowser, with a cup of tea and an engagement ring, at the "Bad-Anon" from Wreck-It Ralph, to the other members' confusion, and numerous others, eventually having Peachette getting revenge on Bowser for the meme via a pair of Spiny Shells after Peachette was announced for Mario Kart Tour, almost a full year after the original post. Two days after the actual anniversary, Haniwa posted a picture of an apron-clad Bowsette holding a cake while Mario and an upset Peach (wearing a "happy" mask) look on, an "HD" version of the original comic's final panel, and a self-made critique of the original. Nintendo has acknowledged the meme, but stated they have nothing further to say about it. On the launch date of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, ayyk92 received a glass trophy from Niconico and Pixiv.

Coincidentally, during the conceptual stages of Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo planned for Bowser to have his own version of Cappy. In one of the concepts shown in The Art of Super Mario Odyssey, Bowser is shown using his cap to capture Peach, becoming "Peach Bowser." Additionally, the character Bowletta from 2003's Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is an official incarnation of Bowser physically fused with a female character.

DK Rap

The DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64 has been subject to numerous memetic parodies, which are largely attributable to its highly quotable and allegedly "cheesy" nature (which was intentional on the part of composer Grant Kirkhope). These parodies include citing and corrupting Lanky Kong's verse with emphasis on the word "he" (usually stylized as "HE"), as well as remixing the song in general, either to mock its lyrics or as a mashup with other songs (as has been done many times on SiIvaGunner's channel). Brentalfloss did his own mock version of the DK Rap, showing where the five main Kongs of the game are today.

Expand Dong

Expand Dong is a reaction image depicting Donkey Kong's face from the boxart of Donkey Kong 64, with the eponymous phrase (formed from letters of the game's title) displayed below his face. The meme is strongly associated with a clip from the song "Our Love is Stronger Than a Golden Banana" from the Donkey Kong Country episode "Raiders of the Lost Banana", where DK sings "I'll shower you with coconut cream pies," as well as DK's expression on the cover of the Legend of the Crystal Coconut VHS boxMedia:DKC Legend of the Crystal Coconut VHS.jpg, due to the perceived lewdness of both. Derivatives of the meme exist featuring other fictional characters and similar captions (which may be innuendos or otherwise).

Luigi's Death Stare

Luigi's Death Stare refers to the angry, determined staring expression that Luigi occasionally shows in Mario Kart 8 when passing by opponents (though the expression is neither exclusive to him nor did it originate in Mario Kart 8). Originally brought to attention in user-uploaded clips of the game, Luigi's "death stare" grew in popularity when it was featured in the video "Luigi Ridin' Dirty", which set one of the aforementioned clips to the song "Ridin'" by Chamillionaire. Since then, the "death stare" was exploited by Nintendo themselves in a Japanese commercial for Mario Kart 8, and mentioned in the Nintendo Digital Event at E3 2014.

It was later referenced in-game in Paper Mario: Color Splash by Huey after he, Mario, and Luigi arrive at Black Bowser's Castle, in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle through Luigi's Steely Stare ability, and in Paper Mario: The Origami King by the green Toad at the start of Picnic Road. Mario Kart Tour's Twitter account posted a picture referencing Luigi's Death Stare in a tweet announcing Luigi's appearance in the game.

Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing

Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing is a series of videos depicting, as its name indicates, an immobile Luigi winning games (usually minigames from the Mario Party series or fights in Super Smash Bros.) as his AI-controlled opponents, who are all set to the easiest difficulty (highest in Super Smash Bros.), defeat themselves. The original video, featuring Mario Party 2, was uploaded on YouTube on October 11, 2009 and has over 8.5 million views as of July 2020.

The meme was referenced by both Nintendo of Europe and Super Mario UK Twitter accounts, which, on November 29, 2017, uploaded a clip of the Mario Party: The Top 100 remake of the Mario Party 2 minigame Bumper Balls (one of the games featured in the original video) with the caption "Yes, it still works."

Mama Luigi

Mama Luigi is a popular meme which is based on the version of the character from the Super Mario World TV series episode of the same name. He wears a green hat, matching overalls, and a blue shirt, and has green eyes that are sometimes cross-eyed (which is actually taken from the ending of The Yoshi Shuffle). His favorite food is bagels and his most recurring catchphrases are "Or is it the bagel?" and "That's Mama Luigi to you."

Due to the meme's popularity, the episode was re-animated by a collaboration of fans organized by Andrew Dickman of Electronic Heroes, with each animator doing a different scene. The project was finished and uploaded to YouTube on August 29, 2017.

Weegee

Weegee

Weegee is a widespread Internet meme based on the odd sprite of Luigi used for the MS-DOS version of Mario is Missing!, which appears to have an odd-looking stare and a hunched-over posture. This led to the creation of a vectorized image based on Luigi's sprite (pictured at right) that became the basis for the meme. The most common use of the exploitable is to edit "Weegee" or his face into pictures to create a sense of awkwardness and discomfort. Variants for other Mario characters exist, most notably "Malleo", a derivative of Mario's sprite from the same game.

Yoshi commits tax fraud

Yoshi committing tax fraud is a meme that began in 2016, when Tumblr user Druddigon responded to a list of 64 things wrong with Yoshi games (each of them being "nothing") with a claim that Yoshi has committed tax fraud. Upon being demanded to show proof, Druddigon responded a simple edited picture of Yoshi's Fortune Street artworkMedia:Yoshi FS.png with a text bubble saying "i committed tax fraud," with no capitalization or punctuation. The meme gained traction in 2018, following YouTuber SiIvaGunner using the meme in some of his "high-quality rip" remixes.

Coincidentally, Yoshi is the only playable character in Fortune Street to request tax exemption should the player build a new tax office on the playing board, predating the meme by roughly five years. While it is possible this served as inspiration for the meme, the game's relative obscurity even upon release makes this unlikely.

The meme was referenced by Nintendo's esports Twitter account in 2019 which, in a tweet about a Yoshi player winning a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament, states "This Yoshi is no fraud!"

Axe Cop

In "Axe Cop #0", it is explained that Axe Cop's parents occasionally put a hat on him and referred to him as Baby Mario since he was born with a mustache. The cap is shown as red with the letter M on it, much like Mario's.

BrainPop

In BrainPOP.com's Dance movie, Tim is humming the Underwater Theme from Super Mario Bros.

Braxtanfilms

• In a web comic bridging the gap between the independent film group's two Ghostbusters films, the funeral of one character is attended by Mario and Luigi as they appeared on the Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

Discord

• On the home page used until June 2020, there was a ? Block which, when clicked, released one of several Mario objects: a coin (with a sound effect similar to that of Super Mario Bros.), a Super Mushroom, a 1-Up Mushroom, a Fire Flower, a Poison Mushroom with a black cap and red spots, a Super Star, or a P Switch with a letter "D" replacing the "P".
• The icon used to represent a server's custom set of emojis is a ? Block.
• If the server has no custom emojis, the page where the emojis would show instead displays several possible custom emojis, one of which resembles Mario.
• In the changelog for February 1, 2018, it describes fixing a bug where the app would crash if the "download update" button was clicked too fast "like a Mario Party mini game."
• When viewing a preview of someone's profile, and they are new to Discord, the Whumpus character will appear on the bottom of the preview box. One of the outfits it wears is a Mario Cap and mustache, as well as one where it wears a Luigi Cap and mustache.
• When running a game or application Discord does not have an icon for in the user's Now Playing status, it will use a ? Block in place of it.

• In the comic section of this website, there is a comic (entitled Mario Mushroom) where Steve and Jason are walking in what Steve calls "a dangerous place". Jason wanders off and finds a mushroom. He goes back to Steve, not realising that he has dramatically grown in size.

Fred the Monkey

• On fredthemonkey.com, there are polls on the home page, which are frequently updated. The August 3rd, 2007 Poll asked what kind of genre a Fred the Monkey-themed video game should be. The fifth option is "Fred Teaches Typing", a reference to Mario Teaches Typing.
• Mailbag 30 - One of the E-Mails Sceb receives concerns him getting Mario Kart DS. *Later, Space Chicken enters bragging about his skills in the game, wearing a green cap backwards with a white L imprinted on it. Since then, the cap has appeared in the background of several cartoons on the website.
• Mailbag 31 - Concerning the events of the previous Mailbag, Sceb tries to get Space Chicken to come out with his Nintendo DS; apparently Space Chicken lost when he got poor items (he mentions getting several Green Shells and a single Mushroom while in fourth place). Space Chicken also shouts that Sceb snaked.

• For a time, if one were to have searched for the original Super Mario Bros. and the knowledge panel for that game appeared, a ? Block could be seen next to the game title, and when clicked, a coin was produced along with the accompanying sound effect. Clicking on it 100 times played the 1-Up Mushroom sound.

The King of Town dressed as Mario in a Super Mario Bros. parody.

• Pumpkin Carve-nival - In this cartoon, The King of Town is dressed as Mario. When the toon is over, if he is clicked on, a secret minigame called "Super Kingio Bros." will be able to be played. The game however, is an obvious joke, as the player plays as the King of Town, who is too fat to hit any of the blocks or jump over the first Goomba. Also, when the King of Town learns that his pumpkin entry in the contest receives a "worst place" prize, he laments, "Sorry, king, but our princess is in another castle." This is a reference to Super Mario Bros. In the same toon, Bubs is dressed as Lou Albano.
• Halloween Potion-ma-jig - In this cartoon, The Cheat is dressed as Toad. At the end of the toon, clicking on The Cheat will have him make a noise similar to Toad's "I'm the best!" from Mario Kart 64 before flying up in the air and landing with a "POOMP" as if hit by an item.
• Teen Girl Squad Issue 10 - The character Tompkins is apparently playing a Mario game on an old Game Boy during the cartoon. Tompkins says he "has Bowser on the ropes" and a red shell "pØwn"s So and So. Later on, the Ugly One says "Let's get it on like Diddy Kong".
• Halloween Fan Costumes '06 - One person dressed up as Homestar (who has his head visible from the costume) is next to a person in a Mario costume. Strong Bad says to the person, "Wait a minute, Homestar, who's that in your mouth? Did you eat Luigi?" The real Homestar responds by saying, "Yes, Strong Bad, I ate Luigi. He tasted like mushrooms."
• The King of Town's Very Own Quite Popular Cartoon Show - The title character calls his men "Beezos".
• Weekly Fan Stuff - The weekly Fan Stuff featured on March 13, 2008 is a custom level from Super Smash Bros. Brawl shaped like Trogdor.
• Strong Bad E-Mail 22 - Before checking his email, Strong Bad hums the music from the first level of Donkey Kong.
• Most in the Graveyard - Strong Mad is dressed as a Thwomp. At multiple times in the toon, he jumps and causes the ground to shake, similar to real Thwomps.

• Email pom pom - When Pom Pom is pounding Strong Bad, various sound effects from Super Mario Bros., such as the Coin collect sound and the 1-Up sound, are heard whenever Pom Pom connects.
• Duck Guardian - The falling robot heads resemble the original Thwomp and the eggs resemble Yoshi Eggs.
• Email redesign - Strong Bad is shown playing a videogame called "Sundae Driver". When he catches a cherry, a message that says "Cherry Get!" appears. This is a reference to the infamous broken English "Shine Get!" message found in the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine.
• Email comic (DVD Commentary) - In the Easter egg, Matt and Mike first mimic and then make reference to the 1-Up sound.
• Sbemail 150?!? - One of the storyboards of Strong Sad's email idea involves Homestar wearing a Snifit mask.
• Homestar Runner Goes for the Gold - A hidden scene viewable by clicking on the "end" title shows Strong Bad and Homestar attempting to use Mario Paint to animate the cartoon before giving up and deciding to use Flash instead, which Homestar sarcastically states is "way less obsolete".

In "Real-life Bowsers Castle: Jump on this deal before Mario Does", David Cross has done the math on how tall, how wide, and how expensive Bowser's castle would be as it appears in Super Mario Bros. 3 in real-world terms. He published the results in a blog post and an infographic. Cross, in "Super Mario Bros: Cash in Your Dollars for 8-bit Gold", states that a single Coin would be worth $508,829.16 in real-world money.

In Natalie Grigson's article, Grigson calculated that Peach's Castle is worth $950,972,940 in real-world money, not including the moat, land or paintings, and in another she priced Donkey Kong's Tree House at $3,800.

MS Paint Adventures (Homestuck)

On page 7681, during Act 6 Act 5 Act 1x2 of Homestuck, Andrew Hussie, speaking through the narrative prompt, likens Trickster Mode to Mario ("a small Italian plumber who goes on sideways adventures") using a Super Star to power through the levels. He argues that being able to "win" without any effort thanks to being rendered "magic and invincible" by the Star is "actually devastating to his development as a human being" because "Mario NEEDS to stomp on all those mushrooms. He NEEDS to bonk those bricks with his head, for the sake of his personal growth." Hussie then admits that "Maybe Mario isn't the best example" since he is a "one-dimensional friendly cartoon plumber" and thus isn't quite applicable to the Trickster Mode situation that befell the teenage protagonists of the story.

In the Heroes graphic novel Rebellion, Part 4, West, when asked about Monica, replies, "Princess is in another castle."

In another Heroes graphic novel, The Trip, Part 1, Hiro (a gaming enthusiast) has a hallucination that includes seeing a man (similar to Mario) in a large plumbing tube, and bricks with money it them. The Pornhub Insights blog has published a number of articles regarding Mario-related trends on the pornographic video sharing website Pornhub.

• According to an article published on December 11, 2019, Mario was the fourth most searched video game character on Pornhub throughout 2019, rising by 96% over the amount of searches for Mario in 2018.
• On September 21, 2020, it was revealed that Pornhub saw an increased amount of Mario-related searches on September 3, 2020, the day Nintendo made announcements for the 35th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. According to a graph shown in the article, the number of searches peaked around September 5, 2020 with 142% more searches than the average, followed by another surge on September 13, 2020, the day of the anniversary, by 57% above average. The article goes on by reporting more Mario-related Pornhub statistics at the time of its writing, such as the three most popular searches from this franchise being Mario, Princess Peach and Bowsette, or that men are 571% more likely to search for Mario-related pornography than women.

The Annoying Orange

After being annoyed for a while, Mario is eventually hit by a Bullet Bill. Afterwards, Orange reveals that he saved Peach and Toad hours ago, and that he "defeated" Bowser by annoying him until Bowser got angry and left.
• Another episode depicted Orange and a mushroom annoying other foods, and at the end, Orange exclaimed to the mushroom, "Mario!" Mario then jumps onto the counter and eats the mushroom. Orange then complains to Mario, but soon cheers up. After that Mario says that he wants a Frog Suit causing a nearby frog's eyes to widen.
• In another episode called Annoying Orange Vs. Mario Kart, Orange spits on a race track, causing Mario to crash into the side of the track, breaking his legs. Orange then laughs about it, stopping when he realizes that Mario is injured. After that, Bowser's, Donkey Kong's, Yoshi's, Luigi's, Princess Peach's, Koopa Troopa's and Toad's karts slip on the mess, causing them all to also crash into the side of the racetrack, blowing up them all. Orange, not wanting to get in trouble flees. Lakitu then comes on the scene. When he sees the damage, he gets sick on the track.
• A spin-off episode was made which was called Grapefruit Vs. Donkey Kong. It starts off with Passion Fruit being kidnapped by Donkey Kong. She asks Grapefruit, who is at the bottom of the 25m stage to help her, saying that she's only asking because he's the only one there. Grapefruit then attempts to climb the first ladder. However, his weight on the ladder collapses the whole stage, knocking down Donkey Kong and causing him to explode in the oil barrel. Passion Fruit lands next to Grapefruit, who asks for a kiss. Passion Fruit hits Grapefruit, who says that that's close.
• In Annoying Orange - Copper Lincoln: Let's Play Some Some Video Games Tonight (Song), Donkey Kong and a parody of Super Mario Bros. called Cat Mario is shown.

Beatdownboogie has started a realistic parody series based off of Mario called Mario Warfare, centering the story in a modern warfare style. There are eight episodes in total. As the story goes, Bowser invades the Mushroom Castle and kills the entire Toad military. Toad himself manages to take down many of Bowser's Shy Guys to defend Princess Peach and take her to a safe haven, just before getting shot by "Bill", a parody of Bullet Bill. • Super Mario Zombie Bros. – A (made-up) game were Mario must use items to kill other zombified Mario characters and find Princess Peach. In the end, he turns out to be zombified himself, much to Princess Peach's horror.

The Infinite Source

The Infinite Source is an American YouTuber who makes videos pitting characters from various TV series, films, books, graphic novels, and videogames against each other in rap battles. There are a few rap battles involving Mario characters, such as: "Link vs. Mario: The Rap Battle", "Sonic vs. Mario: The Rap Battle", "Mario vs. Luigi: The Rap Battle", "Luigi vs. Tails: The Rap Battle", "Princess Peach vs. Princess Zelda: The Rap Battle", and "Mario vs. Bowser: The Rap Battle." All rap battles are formatted so both contestants each have two verses (i.e., Mario raps his first verse, then Luigi raps his first verse, Mario raps his second verse, Luigi raps his second verse). Many of the Infinite Source's rap battles have extended versions (stylized as "Extended + Remastered"), which simply gives both rappers a third verse each; out of the Mario-related raps, only Peach's, Bowser's, and the Super Smash Bros. rap battles lack extended versions.

Throughout the rap battle videos, various artworks of Mario, Luigi, and Peach, both official and fanmade, are seen, while gameplay footage of several Mario games is shown as well. While Mario is rapping, multiple voice clips of him from various games tend to be used in between (e.g. Mario's "Here we go!" voice clip from Super Mario 64 plays before he says "It's-a Mario! Don't call me fat!" in the rap battle against Sonic). In his first and second verses against Sonic, Mario raps "Way back since 8-bits, I've been busting bricks with bare fists!" and "In the game since '81, this plumber's done it all," referencing both his platforming adventures since Super Mario Bros. and his wide range of games since Donkey Kong. In his third verse against Sonic, Mario says, "Miyamoto shocked Japan with the original Jumpman! My legacy will still survive, that's why my kart just got a ride!", referencing his original name in Donkey Kong and the real-life Mario Kart-themed amusement ride in Universal Studio's theme park. Mario also references Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Princess Daisy, and other characters and games in his verses, while Luigi similarly name-drops Yoshi in the rap battle against Mario.

Mario begins his rap battle against Bowser with the line, "Fire Flower spitta hitta with a temper growing two sizes! No sudden moves, fool, Mario don't like surprises!" He name-drops the Fire Flower (using wordplay by comparing throwing fireballs to rapping really well), and references the fact that Bowser's boss fights often include second phases and/or powered-up battles (e.g., the appearances of Dry Bowser, Super Bowser, etc). Mario later says, "Items all on full. At the castle, who's next?," which references both the item inventory that appears in some games, and the many minions and traps that Bowser often loads his castles with.

One of Bowser's lines are, "Recognize King Koopa bouncing back, yeah, believe that! Say you're a fire spitta? Recognize cause I breathe that!," which alludes to both his signature Fire Breath, and his constant plots to steal Peach regardless of his past defeats. In his 2nd verse, Bowser raps, "Super Smash you into concrete - true fire dissing. When this battle is over - sequel to Mario is Missing!" He alludes to the Super Smash Bros. series, and throws a witty reference to the game Mario is Missing!, where Bowser kidnaps Mario.

In both that rap, and the rap battle against Tails, Luigi often references his own adventure in New Super Luigi U, as well as the Year of Luigi, his superior jumping abilities over Mario's, and the increasing amount of popularity he's been receiving for the last decade. Luigi also says "It's-a me, Luigi! I'm-a gonna win!" at the very begin of his first verse, being a spin on Mario's famous catchphrase, as well as Wario's signature quote from Mario Kart 64. Luigi also says "I'll drop a mascot, just like my fraternal twin! I'm a real slim thug; been in the game since '83!" This is a direct callback to Mario's rap battle against Sonic, as Luigi is similarly rapping against Tails; both characters are often the sidekicks of the main protagonists' adventures. Luigi's very slight age difference is also referenced, as he was only born moments after Mario; additionally, he references his debut game, Mario Bros., which came out in 1983, and him being taller than his brother. He also raps, "This is Luigi's Mansion: your final resting place," name-dropping the eponymous mansion in which the series is named after; and, "I'll bust a shell cap in your back, and hit you with a death stare!", referencing the powers of a Red Shell and the angry, determined expression made by Luigi whenever he passes by an opponent (which evolved into the infamous death stare meme).

The Infinite Source also made a Super Smash Bros.-themed rap battle, which features Mario and Donkey Kong. In that rap battle, DK says at differing points, "Hold up! This is Donkey Kong's country!" and "I've been stomping bitchs out since my pops was back in 8-bits!". Donkey Kong references his signature series of adventure games, as well as Cranky Kong, who was originally thought to be his father in early Donkey Kong Country games, though this was later retconned in Donkey Kong Country Returns, in which he is stated to be Donkey Kong's grandfather; additionally, his references Cranky's debut game and only solo adventure. On a side note, Sonic and Mario's rap battle itself is referenced twice: in the "Sonic vs. Shadow" rap battle, Sonic raps "I cannot be beaten - ask Mario!" (as Mario was his prior opponent); in the "Mario vs. Luigi" rap battle, Luigi raps, "They got it right the 2nd time: you're too fat and too slow!" referencing one of Sonic's lines directed at Mario. In the Sonic vs. Knuckles rap battle, Knuckles raps, "In a blaze since the Sega days, I had to come through - it's time for big red to finally drop a big blue!," alluding to Sega's rivalry with Nintendo, and referencing Sonic's rivalry with Mario - a "red" character just like Knuckles himself.

• In Jenna Marbles's video "What Girls Do In The Car", she exclaims "Waluigi! Yeah, we gonna win!" in a Waluigi voice.

• The episode "Luzării și Vrejul Fermecat" (eng. The Losers and the Magic Beanstalk) of the Romanian animated web series Luzării de pe Electrolizei involves Mario helping the main characters destroy a magic beanstalk that has grown out of one of their friends' rectum. Mario exclusively talks in English throughout the episode, although he is able to understand what the other characters say and converse with them freely. He is affectionately called "Marius", a common name in Romania, by one of the characters.

As Frătzică and C8ilu' reach the top of the beanstalk to seek a solution to their problem, they enter a Coin Heaven-like area, where they find a "plumber" whom they agree to ask for help. The plumber explains that there are two ways to get rid of the beanstalk, the first one of which involves using a Super Mushroom. However, when Mario hits a ? Block above to produce a mushroom and demonstrate something with it, the characters accidentally let it slide into the beanstalk. This causes it to grow even bigger and the Hungarian Bulan to scream in pain down below. The second way to destroy the beanstalk, Mario explains, is to hit with a Koopa shell, which he is willing to sell for 10 coins. While C8ilu' goes to get coins from a nearby ? Block, Frătzică asks Mario if his wife is well, to which Mario answers that "the Princess is okay, taking piți-photos in the bathroom with the iPhone". When C8pilu' is finished, he offers the coins to Mario and the two protagonists receive the Koopa shell in return. Mario warns them that the shell is unstable and instructs them to throw it onto the beanstalk, which causes it to shrink down. Frătzică thanks Mario for his help and, as a sign of gratitude, invites him and Luigi to a barbecue some other time.

• As part of their morning talk show Good Mythical Morning, the hosts played a game which involved wearing Mario and Luigi costumes and answering trivia questions based on the Mario franchise. If the questionee answers the question correctly, they choose which of two ? Blocks they get to stand under, while if they answer incorrectly, the questioner chooses which block to stand under. One of the blocks has coins, while the other has a variety of gross junk. Although the hosts are usually the titular Rhett and Link, they were replaced for the one show by Game Grumps hosts Arin Hanson (who dressed as Mario) and Dan Avidan (who dressed as Luigi). The episode, titled "Super Mario Smash Block Challenge ft. Game Grumps", featured Dan coincidentally having stuff dumped on him in every round.

RObotzi

The Romanian web animated series RObotzi has featured a few references to Mario.

• During one sequence from Mo's drug trip in the episode S03.Ep13.Sugstanță (eng. Suckstance), Mo stands in a Warp Pipe and pretends to be a "flowing flower" in front of Mario. As Mario is watching him with confusion, a Question Block slides between some Brick Blocks above and crushes him. A clip from this sequence is reused in the Creative Monkeyz one million subscribers special.
• In the episode S03.Ep22.Soluție (eng. Solution), in the scene where Mo orders a "transistor vodka" from a store seller, several Mario items, such as Mushrooms and a Green Shell, can be seen on the shelves behind the seller. The two forms of Mario derivative "7 GRAND DAD", both of which reference Fred Flintstone due to the character's origins in a Flintstones bootleg game. "GRAND DAD" is one of the most frequently-recurring elements on the SiIvaGunner music channel.

SiIvaGunner (formerly known as GiIvaSunner) is a YouTube collective known for uploading avant-garde remixes and parodies of video game songs, many of which are from the Mario series or contain elements from it (along with related series such as the Super Smash Bros. series). Additionally, several of the channel's major elements are Mario-related:

• One of the "main characters" as depicted by the channel is a variation of Mario known as "7 GRAND DAD", who is depicted in two different forms: a recolored, off-model Mario sprite, and Fred Flintstone with Mario's head. The character originates from a bootleg Mario game known as “GRAND DAD 3M 原始瑪莉VII” (the Chinese translates to "Primitive Mario") that was in fact a minimally-edited version of The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino & Hoppy, with the odd Mario graphic originating from another Mario bootleg, Dian Shi Ma Li.
• The "CG Rap" is a parody of the DK Rap from Donkey Kong 64 in which most of the lyrics are replaced with "coconut gun". Most other remixes and uses of the DK Rap on the channel are based on this parody and/or reference "coconut gun" in a similar style.
• During the channel's "Christmas Comeback Crisis" story arc (a parody of the Kirby series), a false finale titled "Waluigi's Tacostand" was uploaded, which features the misadventures of Waluigi opening a taco stand and interacting with the channel's other characters.
• During the channel's "King for a Day" tournament, Wario and Waluigi as a duo and Geno were contestants that participated in the tournament. In its sequel, "King for Another Day", alongside the Mario-themed contestants from the past tournament, Donkey Kong was also a contestant in the tournament.

In addition, their arrangement of the Fossil Falls theme from Super Mario Odyssey was used by Nintendo of Italy in a promotional YouTube video for the game.

Smosh

The Mario segment in the "If Video Games Were Real" video

• Smosh's 2010 video "If Video Games Were Real" features a parody of Super Mario Bros.. Here, Ian (as Peach) tells Anthony (as Mario) that he must "pay up" if he wants to be with him. Anthony then proceeds to punch a Brick Block to get a Coin, but instead injures his hand and howls in pain, ending the segment by shouting "F**K!!!".
• In Smosh's video "REAL VOODOO DOLL!", the video starts with Anthony being frustrated by a Lakitu while playing Super Mario Bros.. Also, Mario plushes, a Super Mario Galaxy poster, and even an actual Lakitu (which Ian gets killed by in the end) are spottable in the episode.
• Several Mario-related objects are located around the house where most episodes take place, such as a painting of Yoshi and Yoshi Eggs.
• One of Smosh's licensed T-shirts is of Yoshi biting into a sign containing his name (in Mario-style font).
• Smosh's "REJECTED MARIO GAMES" video is entirely about (made-up) Mario games that were canceled due to their absurdity. Also, the beginning shows boxart of several past Mario games. Also, Mario Teaches Walking is a parody of Mario Teaches Typing and Mario's Mansion is a fictionalized alpha version of Luigi's Mansion, which (fictionally) shifted focus towards Luigi after Mario stated "This game sucks, give it to Luigi."
• In the episode "WE'RE IN SUPER MARIO!", Ian and Antony travel into Super Mario Bros. and ends being seriously injured. At the end of the video, Mario says that to see bloopers and behind the scenes content, the spectator must click in the link in the description of the video, and ends saying "Click in the subscribe button and win an extra life. I gotta save the princess so she can just get kidnapped again and then we will make five million more games bye!".
• In the episode "SEXTING GONE WRONG!", Mario appears as a random character to provide backup nude photos (with the threat of posting them online as part of a defense mechanism) and ends up dying of shock after seeing Anthony's photos.

TeamFourStar have made a few references to the Mario franchise throughout their Dragon Ball Z Abridged series.

• There is a recurring gag in the series that consists of calling Namekians (usually Piccolo) Yoshis. Some examples includes:
  • In Episode 2, Goku asks Piccolo if he is a Yoshi due to them both being green and having been born from eggs, which Piccolo sarcastically says he is one. Then Goku asks if he can ride him, just like how Yoshis are rideable in most games they appear in.
    • In the Dragon Ball Z Kai Abridged Episode 1, this scene is recreated and shortened a lot, with Goku only asking if Piccolo is a Yoshi, which he answers "Hell yeah".
  • In the Christmas Tree of Might Movie Part 1, when Piccolo first meets Turles, he says that he looks like Goku, while Turles replies that he looks like a Yoshi.
  • In the Lord Slug Movie, when Goku discovers Lord Slug's species, he almost calls him a Yoshi, but gets interrupted by King Kai telling him not to call him a Yoshi, and then proceeds to tell him he's a Super Namekian.
  • TeamFourStar are even selling two shirts featuring Piccolo as a Yoshi, with the second one being called "Piccoloshi's Island" depicting him with a baby Gohan on his back, parodying the video game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
• In Episode 4, when Gohan transforms into the Great Ape, music from Donkey Kong plays and he hoists a barrel up, much like Donkey Kong. When he transforms back into Gohan the power-down music from Super Mario Bros. is heard.
• In Episode 25, when Krillin gets impaled by Frieza's horn, he claims that it's the worst pain he's ever gotten, but then Frieza continues stabbing him multiple other times, which gives Frieza 1-Ups. Also at the end of this episode, there is a parody of Frieza's transformation where he hits a ? Block to get a Super Mushroom that transforms him into his second form. This scene is also accompanied by Super Mario Bros.'s overworld theme.
• In Episode 28, after Frieza finished the "game" he's playing with Goku, he asks him if he liked the game. Goku then responds that it was okay, but it was no Donkey Kong, which has a "pie level."
• In the Revenge of Cooler Movie, when Gohan is on his way back to Goku and Krillin, Cooler's henchmen interrupts him and tells him "Well hello, Diddy. Where's Donkey?" Later on, after Salza kicks Gohan away, he says he's going to give the coup de gras to the king of Kongs, referring to Goku.

• In an episode titled "BLOW YOUR MIND!", he points out how the star-dotted letters on the cover of Super Mario Galaxy spell out "U R MR GAY" and how the Toads in Super Mario Bros. are apparently flipping off the player.

"Weird Al" Yankovic

• In an animated video promoting his album "Medium Rarities", Weird Al is seen playing an arcade game that is a spoof of Super Mario Bros. The video also contains Weird Al going down a Warp Pipe, with the same sound effect from Super Mario Bros.

Wired

• In "Movie Accent Expert Breaks Down 31 Actors Playing Real People", dialect coach Erik Singer discusses the epenthesis used in Forest Whitaker's portrayal of Ugandan dictator Idi Amin by comparing it to Mario's stereotypical Italian accent. Singer directly says, "It's-a me, Mario!" while the voice clip and the title screen from Super Mario 64 plays in the background.

YouTube Poop

YouTube Poop refers to a style of YouTube videos consisting of randomly edited clips from various sources, usually to nonsensical effect. Among the more popular sources are clips from the Mario animated series (particularly Super Mario World and its episode "Mama Luigi"), as well as cutscenes from Hotel Mario, although other Mario-related media (including the canon games) have been used as sources as well. The phenomenon became significant enough to be acknowledged by some of the creators behind the original material, such as screenwriter Phil Harnage and voice actor Marc Graue; Graue has even actively participated in the ironic fan community surrounding Hotel Mario.

Zach Boucher

Canadian YouTuber Zach Boucher, professionally known as SploogeGaming, has made various rap songs and rap battles about the Mario franchise. These include the "Intense Super Mario 64 Rap", a rap song about Mario's adventure to save Peach and the Power Stars; "Intense Super Mario Sunshine Rap", another rap song that now centers about Mario's disastrous vacation in Isle Delfino; "Intense Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Rap", a third rap song that highlights Mario's adventure in the game; "Intense Luigi's Mansion Rap", a fourth rap song that centers on Luigi's ghostbusting adventure to save Mario; "Lap One: A Mario Kart 8 Rap", a rap song which highlights the flow of a typical Mario Kart 8 race; "Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Rap Battle Parts 1 & 2", which has various characters from the base Super Smash Bros. roster rap against each other, including Mario representatives Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Bowser Jr.; "Super Smash Bros. Rap Battle: DLC Edition", which has all of the DLC characters from Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U engage in a rap battle; the "Smashing Dr. Mario Rap Song", which is a rap about Super Smash Bros. from Dr. Mario's perspective; and "Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Rap Battle Part 3," which brings Dr. Mario for a second round of rapping, and includes Wario, Rosalina & Luma, and Diddy Kong as contestants. Zach Boucher has produced "Rage Rap: Rainbow Road", which has him rap about the frustrating course layout of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!s Rainbow Road, while showing gameplay footage of Toad and Toadette from the same game. On October 30, 2019 Zach Boucher released "Luigi's Mansion 3 Rap," which indirectly alludes to Gooigi.

Portrait Ghosts such as Biff Atlas, Miss Petunia, Sue Pea, Neville, Lydia, Slim Bankshot, and Vincent Van Gore are mentioned throughout the Luigi's Mansion rap song, and are shown as part of gameplay footage; King Boo makes rare appearances throughout the rap song; foes like Hooktail, Sir Grodus, and Lord Crump are referenced in the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door rap song; and finally, the Super Smash Bros. rap battles feature numerous references: Mario (voiced by VideoGameRapBattles) says his signature catchphrase "It's-a me, Mario!" at the beginning of his verse, and references his famous status by referring to himself as "the lovable, idolized Nintendo character" and "what everyone wants to be"; Luigi (voiced by Adam Purski) references his Fireball's disruptive capabilities by saying "Believe me, get hit by floating fireballs. That'll just completely f*** up your entire combo", and talks about his up aerial, Luigi Cyclone, and damaging taunt; Bowser (voiced by NemRaps) references his Bowser Bomb and Flying Slam specials (ex: "Hit you with a Ground Pound, cowards catchin' feelings" and "You'll expire when hit by my Flying Slam!"); Bowser Jr. (voiced by DefMatch) starts his rap by saying, "I'm Bowser Jr., Mechakoopas will chew ya!", referencing his down special move, and later on, "I brought my seven brothers hovering above in these Clown Cars", referencing the Koopalings and the mass-produced Junior Clown Cars; Yoshi (voiced by Zach Boucher) references his egg laying capabilities and fast attacks; lastly, Donkey Kong (also voiced by NemRaps) raps about his attack speed and KO power, while referencing his tantrums when the Kongs' Banana Hoard is stolen (ex:"They say I'm going bananas, but I don't feel ya, I kill ya."). Donkey Kong's next line is, "What's a monkey to a gorilla?", possibly referencing Diddy Kong; additionally, Donkey Kong's last few lines are, "Battling this O.G.? Homie, you're history. King Kong ain't got shit on me!", which may reference the Universal City Studios, Inc. v. Nintendo Co., Ltd. lawsuit, where Universal Studios considered Donkey Kong a copyright infringement of King Kong. Later on, the court ruled in favor of Nintendo, saying that, "Donkey Kong is a unique game that does not share any similarities with King Kong".

There is a notable error in "Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Rap Part 1", where Bowser Jr. says "I brought my seven brothers hovering above in these Clown Cars", even though the Koopalings comprise of six males (Larry, Lemmy, Iggy, Morton, Roy, and Ludwig) and one female (Wendy). Additionally, the Koopalings are not currently officially considered Bowser Jr.'s siblings. Bowser Jr. also references his Final Smash and the ability to become Shadow Mario at the end of his verse. "Ultimate Super Smash Bros. Rap: Part 1" is notable for featuring the most Mario characters, with 6 in total, while Part 3 features 3, Part 2 features 1, and the DLC Edition features none. Several Mario characters also have beats inspired from existing tunes, though with added trap beats: Mario raps to the Hammer theme from Donkey Kong, Luigi raps to the Ground Theme of Super Mario Bros., Peach raps to the Super Star's arrangement from Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong raps to 25m's theme from Donkey Kong, and Rosalina & Luma rap to Gusty Garden Galaxy's theme from Super Mario Galaxy. Interestingly, Bowser Jr. raps to a dubstep/trap arrangement of "Gourmet Race," a song from Kirby's Dream Land.
