In every course of New Super Luigi U a picture of Luigi is hidden, whether it be a sprite, an image in a wall, or something else. There are a total of 83 Luigi sightings (two in Flying Squirrel Ovation), a reference to Luigi's debut year.

Acorn PlainsEdit

Acorn Plains-1 Waddlewing Warning!   On top of the New Super Luigi U sign in the beginning of the course is an 8-bit sprite of Luigi.
Acorn Plains-2 Crooked Cavern   Right before the normal exit, an 8-bit Luigi can be found hidden under the stairs of Brick Blocks.
Acorn Plains- Tower Flame-Gear Tower   An 8-bit Luigi is hidden in the gap to the bottom-left of the final gear.
Acorn Plains-3 Rolling Yoshi Hills   There is a grey spot shaped like Luigi on one of the rock pillars to the left of the second POW Block.
Acorn Plains-4 Piranha Heights   The area that contains the third Star Coin has a large climbable statue of an 8-bit Luigi made out of colored blocks.
Acorn Plains-5 Piranha Gardens   A large Luigi-shaped hedge is shown near the second Star Coin in the level.
Acorn Plains- Castle Lemmy's Lights-Out Castle   Hidden in the wall above and to the right of the boss door is an 8-bit sprite of Super Luigi.
Acorn Plains- Cheep Cheep Cheep Chomp Chase   In an area with many Deep Cheeps and a Red Ring, an 8-bit Luigi swimming can be seen near a yellow Warp Pipe.

Layer-Cake Desert-2 Underground Grrrols   At the beginning of the course, a P-Acorn must be used to find a secret path. An 8-bit Luigi sprite can be seen in the ground.
Layer-Cake Desert-3 Piranhas in the Dark   A hidden 8-bit Luigi is found when the player defeats the Piranha Plant guarding the warp pipe leading to the third Star Coin.
Layer-Cake Desert- Tower Wind-Up Tower   Near the end of the course, an 8-bit Luigi can be seen in the left side of the screen, behind a moving stone.
Layer-Cake Desert-4 The Walls Have Eyes   In the secret underground room, a crouching 8-bit Luigi can be found hidden by ground pounding into the Stone-Eye.
Layer-Cake Desert-5 Stone Spike Conveyors   A jumping 8-bit Luigi can be seen at the top of the level near the Goal Pole.
Layer-Cake Desert-6 Spinning Sandstones   Near the middle of the course, one of the Stone-Eyes has Luigi's face on it and an "L" on its forehead.
Layer-Cake Desert- Castle Morton's Lava-Block Castle   At one point, an 8-bit Luigi losing a life is seen just above the lava.
Layer-Cake Desert- Fire Piranha Plant Slippery Rope Ladders   In the upward chamber before the Warp Pipe leading to the Goal Pole, a sliding 8-bit Luigi is seen near the Fire Bros.

Sparkling Waters- Tower Shish-Kebab Tower   When riding the second lift, a giant 8-bit Luigi can be seen.
Sparkling Waters- Ghost House Haunted Cargo Hold   Near the beginning of the course after entering the first set of pipes, a swimming 8-bit Luigi is hidden beneath on the left of the wall in the water.
Sparkling Waters-3 Waterspout Sprint   A jumping 8-bit Luigi is seen between the waterspouts below the Red Ring.
Sparkling Waters-4 The Great Geysers   Behind the course's starting point is a series of large blocks with Luigi's head etched into them.
Sparkling Waters-5 Dragoneel Depths   A swimming 8-bit Luigi is found by having a Dragoneel defeat the Big Urchin.
Sparkling Waters- Castle Larry's Trigger-Happy Castle   In the underwater room, when hitting the P-Switch and clearing the coins at the top of the pipe, a swimming 8-bit Luigi is revealed.
Sparkling Waters- Leaf Beanstalk Jungle   A jumping 8-bit Luigi can be seen at the bottom right just before entering the last pipe.

Frosted GlacierEdit

Frosted Glacier-1 Broozers and Barrels   If the course is completed with the same last two numbers on the Time Limit, a Luigi snowman will appear.
Frosted Glacier-2 Cooligan Shrooms   An 8-bit Luigi clinging onto a pole is found just before the third Star Coin.
Frosted Glacier- Tower Icicle Tower   If the player wall jumps up the shaft in the beginning of the course, a hidden area will be unveiled with a crouching 8-bit Luigi.
Frosted Glacier-3 Fire and Ice   In the secret room where the first Star Coin is, a Luigi ice statue is found.
Frosted Glacier-4 Weighty Waddlewings   Just before the Goal Pole, Luigi can be seen as the icon of the Banzai Bill Cannon instead of a skull.
Frosted Glacier-5 Ice-Slide Expressway   A skidding 8-bit Luigi is seen in the hidden area beneath the third Star Coin.
Frosted Glacier- Ghost House Peek-a-Boo Ghost House   After passing the second circling Boos, a spider web with Luigi's head knitted out is visible.
Frosted Glacier- Castle Wendy's Thwomp Castle   A jumping 8-bit Luigi can be seen in the area with Thwomps.
Frosted Glacier- Fliprus Fliprus Floes   At the beginning of the course, a jumping 8-bit Luigi can be found at the top of a hidden block.

Soda JungleEdit

Soda Jungle-1 Giant Swing Along   Hidden behind the bottom of a stack of giant Brick Blocks is an 8-bit Luigi.
Soda Jungle-2 Dancing Blocks, Poison Swamp   An 8-bit Luigi can be seen clinging to the top of the secret Goal Pole, behind where the Bowser flag is.
Soda Jungle-3 Heart of Bramball Woods   One of the details on the ground block immediately next to the first Star Coin is Luigi's face.
Soda Jungle- Tower Stone-Snake Tower   Directly underneath the hidden area where the third Star Coin is, a crouching 8-bit Luigi is seen.
Soda Jungle- Ghost House Boo's Favorite Haunt   On the wall next to the door leading to the secret exit is a portrait of Luigi.
Soda Jungle-4 Painted Pipeworks   In the room containing the secret exit is a canvas with a painting of Luigi on it.
Soda Jungle-5 Deepsea Stone-Eyes   The room containing the third Star Coin features a giant 8-bit Luigi.
Soda Jungle-6 Sumo Bro Bridge   At one point in the course, there is a Luigi head made out of vines in the foreground inside the platform.
Soda Jungle-7 Wiggler Floodlands   In a hidden area with a hidden 1-up Mushroom at the end of the course, an 8-bit Luigi can be seen, directly over where the block is.
Soda Jungle- Castle Iggy's Swinging-Chains Castle   At the start of the course, waiting for one of the troughs of the lava flow to pass by reveals an 8-bit Luigi within the wall.
Soda Jungle- Para-Beetles Para-Beetle Parade   Behind the Para-Beetles where the first King Bill is a jumping 8-bit Luigi.

Rock-Candy Mines- Tower Smashing-Stone Tower   The hidden alcove hiding the second Star Coin is stylized using Luigi's face instead of Bowser Jr's.
Rock-Candy Mines-3 Spike's Seesaws   An 8-bit Luigi is behind one of the Spikes near the end of the course.
Rock-Candy Mines-4 Light-Up-Lift Tower   At the start of the course, an 8-bit Luigi is seen on the very right side, in the ground.
Rock-Candy Mines-5 Rising Piranhas   There is a large Luigi-shaped hole in the rock wall just before the Big Piranha Plant next to the secret exit in the ceiling.
Rock-Candy Mines-6 Spine Coaster Stowaways   Near the first Star Coin, an 8-bit Luigi is on the ceiling of the course.
Rock-Candy Mines- Tower Sumo Bro's Spinning Tower   An 8-bit Luigi is on the ceiling at the top of the tower, directly above the third Star Coin.
Rock-Candy Mines-7 Switch-Lift Express   There is an 8-bit Luigi in the hidden area next to the first Fire Bro.
Rock-Candy Mines- Castle Roy's Ironclad Castle   Above the lava pit containing the blocks with the second Star Coin is an 8-bit Luigi.

Meringue Clouds-3 Rainbow Skywalk   In the secret area before the end of the course, a giant jumping 8-bit Luigi can be seen.
Meringue Clouds- Tower Stonecrush Tower   When jumping up a series of platforms after the second Fire Bro, Luigi's face can be seen in the ground block.
Meringue Clouds- Ghost House Vanishing Ghost House   When taking the secret exit route, a hanging decorative sign of Luigi and King Boo will be seen, which references their artwork from Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.
Meringue Clouds-4 Above the Bouncy Clouds   By defeating the Big Piranha Plant, an 8-bit Luigi can be seen when the shifting Warp Pipe reaches its lowest point.
Meringue Clouds-5 Flame Chomp Ferris Wheel   A cloud resembling Luigi can be seen in the background.
Meringue Clouds-6 Three-Headed Snake Block   At the beginning of the course, an 8-bit Luigi can be seen by clearing away the clouds covering the wall over the Snake Blocks.
Meringue Clouds- Castle Ludwig's Block-Press Castle   In the room containing the cannon leading to Ludwig's airship there is a Luigi-shaped shadow on the wall.
Meringue Clouds- Airship Bowser Jr. Showdown   In the area where the third Star Coin is hidden is an image of Luigi.

Peach's CastleEdit

Peach's Castle-3 Hot Cogs   Breaking the Brick Block directly under the sign near the first Star Coin reveals a crouching 8-bit Luigi.
Peach's Castle-4 Firefall Rising   One of the hidden alcoves within the secret part of the course features a jumping 8-bit Luigi.
Peach's Castle-  Current Event   An 8-bit Luigi is seen beneath the door leading to the Goal Pole.
Peach's Castle-  The Final Battle   Luigi's face can be seen on the middle rivet of a platform.

Superstar RoadEdit

Superstar Road-4 Hammerswing Hangout   Shortly after passing the Green Ring, there is an 8-bit Luigi on the right.
Superstar Road-5 Under Construction   When going up the hidden Beanstalk to a secret area where the third Star Coin is, a 16-bit Luigi resembling his walking sprite in Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 is found.
Superstar Road-6 Fire Bar Sprint   Breaking the last set of brick blocks near the flag pole reveals a crouching 8-bit Luigi.
Superstar Road-7 Cloudy Capers   When traveling through the last set of Fuzzies, defeating the second to last Fuzzy on the bottom right reveals an 8-bit Luigi.
Superstar Road-8 Impossible Pendulums   At the last Spinner, heading down to the bottom right corner unveils a hidden area with an 8-bit Luigi.
Superstar Road-9 Flying Squirrel Ovation   Near the bottom of the gliding portion, a giant 8-bit Luigi appears.
  At the end of the course, there is a big sign that says THANK YOU with a Luigi cutout on it. The player can put their Mii's face through the hole.
