Template:Levelbox Liftshaft Lottery is the sixth level in the Game Boy and Game Boy Color game, Donkey Kong Land III. It takes place in a large mill located in the north-west of Cape Codswallop.

This mill seems to be powered by tides rather than currents, as its wooden wheel is driven by the waters of the northern sea. Like in Total Rekoil, Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong must thread their way through the various stories, defeating Kobbles, Sneeks and Re-Koils. The tiny hedgehogs known as Bristles are introduced in this level to also hinder in the Kongs' progress. To cross the mill, the monkeys must climb up ropes while dodging Buzzes, as well as using the numerous lift platforms. After completing the level, Dixie and Kiddy venture into the northern sea to confront Barbos, the giant Lurchin.

In the Time Attack mode, unlocked after defeating Baron K. Roolenstein in the Lost World, Liftshaft Lottery appears again to represent "Mill" levels. It must be completed in less than one minute and 30 seconds. It is recommended to attack the rows of enemies with frontal attacks, as a successful hit will give the Kongs a short acceleration.

Level layout

When the level begins, the heroes find themselves walking along a long pathway through the mill, grabbing the letter K and defeating many enemies, including Sneeks. At the end of the pathway, they can see an elevator lift to ride up. It takes them to the next floor, where they travel west and watch out for more foes. If they manage to make it to the end of this area, they can ride up another two lifts and jump to the right on the third floor. Jumping into the above Barrel Cannon from there will take them through the letter O and on to another elevator. This platform guides them to the fourth floor, where they head east again and climb up a nearby rope. The rope takes them into an area full of several other vertical ropes. Hopping to each one carefully, they eventually get to the next area, where they find a Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the group ride down a nearby elevator to reach a lower floor and avoid more enemies, such as Kobbles. Soon, they see an elevator that helps them reach another lift. This lift takes them to the next floor, where they journey on to the west and find the letter N. Moving on, they climb up some ledges and head under a boardwalk to find the letter G. If they continue east from there, they pass some enemies and soon find a gap. Jumping into it, they land near a flagpole. Touching the flagpole ends the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Near the beginning of the level, the group ride up two small elevator lifts to reach the third floor. Looking to the right, they can see a passageway past a lone Buzz. They have to jump there and head down the path into a Bonus Barrel. It blasts them into a Bonus Level, where they need to move along several vertical ropes to collect thirty-five stars. If they do this in thirty-five seconds, they will be able to grab the Bonus Coin on a high-up platform with the remaining time.
  • Before jumping into the small gap at the end of the level, used to find the flagpole, the apes have to jump on the above lift platform to reach a higher area. At the elevator's highest point, they must hop to the left and land into a Barrel Cannon. The cannon fires them to a Bonus Barrel, leading to a Bonus Level. There, the Kongs need to run through a mill stage as fast as they can. Avoiding enemies, they need to climb up a long rope and head west along a long pathway. At the end of this pathway, the monkeys can find the Bonus Coin, if they made it to the end in thirty seconds.

DK Coin

  • When the Kongs pass a group of bananas in the formation of an arrow for the second time in the level, they can ride up a small elevator lift. They have to jump to the next area to the left and wait. Shortly after, another elevator will hover to them and pull them to a hidden area, where they find a Koin, with the DK Coin, next to a Steel Keg. They have to defeat him to get this special coin. Though his shield protects him from most attacks, the monkeys can use the nearby and throw it against the wall. As the Koin pays attention to the monkeys, the barrel will bounce back and hit him on the side, giving the heroes his DK Coin.
