Template:Species-infobox Krockheads[1][2] (alternatively KrocHeads[3][4] or Krocheads[5]) are primitive Kremlings[5] that first appeared in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and later Donkey Kong Land 2. Krockheads are only seen by their head, hence their name, and emerge from either the swamp or lava. Krockheads usually appear in groups.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Krockheads appear in two colors: green and brown (changed to bright red in the Game Boy Advance version). They are the main feature of a level, which has their name in it, Krockhead Klamber.

Despite sometimes being classified as an enemy, Krockheads do not harm the Kongs directly. Each color variation has distinctive traits. The green ones simply act as platforms for the Kongs to cross over the swamp or lava, while the brown Krockheads act as springboards by opening their mouth and sending Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong up into the air. Some brown Krockheads bounce them higher than others. In some swamp levels, Krockheads bob up and down the water, meaning the Kongs must time their jumps accordingly. Sometimes the Kongs must use a Krockhead Barrel to temporarily bring Krockheads up to the surface.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Krockheads make their second appearance in Donkey Kong Land 2. While both of the Krockhead color variations return, they can no longer be distinguished due to the monochromatic screen of the Game Boy. They also appear in the game's equivalent of Krockhead Klamber. Krockheads appear in the ending Cast of Characters, unlike with Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy Kong Quest.

Trivia

  • Krockheads somewhat bear a resemblance to the giant crocodile named sarcosuchus, due to the bulbous tip of the snout. They also resemble the gharial, but the Krockhead's snout is not as thin as the gharial's.
