Kaboings[1] are grunt members of the Kremling Krew, who appear in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. They look very similar to Klomp except that they have two peg legs rather than one, and therefore Kaboings bounce to move around.

They act as the successors of the jumping Kritters from Donkey Kong Country. Re-Koils would later act as their successors in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and Donkey Kong Land III.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Kaboings are somewhat common enemies, and they first appear in the level Gangplank Galley. Most Kaboings are gray, but there are also some green ones encountered in a few of the later levels. The green Kaboings move slightly faster and jump slightly higher than their gray counterpart.

Kaboings have a set pattern of bouncing around the level. Oftentimes, a Kaboing stands on a platform, waiting for Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to be in sight. It then jumps off the platform, attempting to ambush the Kongs. In Web Woods, there are green Kaboings awaiting Squitter on higher platforms.

Kaboings are classified under the "Kremling Kuthroats" enemy class during the end credits.

Donkey Kong Land 2

Kaboings also appear in Donkey Kong Land 2. They share the same behavior with gray Kaboings from Donkey Kong Country 2, although the green Kaboings do not reappear, possibly because of the Game Boy's monochromatic screen. Kaboings appear in more levels than in Donkey Kong Country 2.
