Template:Level Jetty Jitters is the ninth level in the classic Game Boy and Game Boy Color game, Donkey Kong Land III. Located on the river that runs through the Primate Plains, this level is the third in this world.

Like Red Wharf and Ford Knocks, Jetty Jitters takes place on a series of boardwalks overhanging a shallow river. In this stilt level, Dixie and Kiddy Kong have to cling on to several tightropes in order to cross the wide gaps between the wharves. However, Klasps hang from most of these ropes, moving back and forth in a fixed pattern, and they interfere with the Kongs' progress. A good timing is required to jump over the explosive Kremlings. Though the monkeys can normally avoid each Klasp by swimming through the water, the river is flooded with many Lurchins to attack them. On the boardwalks, Dixie and Kiddy encounter the usual foes, Kobbles and Sneeks. Buzzes, Krumples, and Booty Birds also appear in one of the level's Bonus Stages.

Noticeably, Jetty Jitters is Donkey Kong Land III's equivalent of Kreeping Klasps, a level from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, as both levels share similar features.

Level layout

At the beginning of the level, the heroes have to walk down a short, slanted wharf and cross a small gap. Soon, they reach a long tightrope. After dodging all the Klasps on it, they need to jump to the letter K and the next rope. Once the group jumps off one last tightrope, they have to get back on the wharves and head under a small roof-like structure. Eventually, the monkeys walk up some more slanted paths and need to climb over a long tightrope. Once they get over the tightrope, they have to roll into a nearby gap to find the letter O, and then cross another small pit to find the Star Barrel.

About halfway through the level, the Kongs find another tightrope to climb across. Once they find the third tightrope in that area, they will be able to collect to Bear Coins, as well as the letter N. After this, they need to drop down onto another rope and make their way back to solid ground. There, they have to walk under another roof, defeating Kobbles, and cross a small gap to find another roof towering above the wharves. Beating some Kobbles again, they find the letter G and have to swim through a small watery area. Though most parts of the water in this level are filled with Lurchins, this part only has one foe in it, making the monkeys journey through this area a little easier. Once out of the water, the apes need to walk up another slanted pathway and get over more boardwalks to find another gap. After crossing it, the heroes walk up a slanted pathway again to find a flagpole. One touch of the flagpole ends the level.

Secrets

Bonus Levels

  • Right before finding the letter O, the heroes find themselves on a long rope, dangling above a small gap. They must fall into the gap, being caught by a hidden Bonus Barrel. It takes them to a Bonus Level, where they have to run along a long path, collecting many stars. After they obtain every star on the wharves, they have to jump into the water and swim back under the wooden boards. Making their way back to the start, the heroes find themselves with every star. If they did get each one, the Bonus Coin appears nearby.
  • After the letter N, Dixie Kong have to jump off of the last rope in the area and twirl onto the top of a roof. If she and Kiddy walk along this roof, they find a barrel. It shoots them to the next Bonus Barrel. Going into it, they are able to access a Bonus Level, where they need to run along a long path, watching out for Krumples and Buzzes. Once they get to the end, they need to hop onto some Booty Birds to the left and bounce to the top of a small roof. There, they find the stage's Bonus Coin.

DK Coin

  • At the start of the level, the Kongs have to walk backwards to find the Koin with the DK Coin. They need to defeat him to get the coin. His shield protects him from most attacks, so the heroes have to pick up a Steel Barrel nearby and stand on the foe. Then, they must throw the barrel into the edge of the screen. While the Koin is distracted, the barrel will bounce back and hit him in the side. This will defeat the Koin and give the monkeys the DK Coin.

Trivia

  • Similar to arcade games before coins are inserted, certain levels will be "demoed" at the title screen if the player doesn't press start. This is one of those levels.
