Japan (Japanese: 日本; Rōmaji: Nihon or Nippon; Ainu: ニホン; Engrish: ジャパン) is an island country in Asia, on Earth. This is where Nintendo of Japan is located and where many Mario games are produced. Japan also made an appearance in NES Open Tournament Golf as one of the playable countries along with the United States of America and the United Kingdom. It also appeared in Mario is Missing! where Luigi had to go here, more specifically Tokyo.

Trivia

  • In Super Mario Bros. 3, in Water Land, on the island where the castle is, the island is shaped like Japan. Also, the castle is located right where the Nintendo of Japan Headquarters in Kyoto would be if the island was in fact really Japan.
  • In the Japanese version of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Question 3 in the 66th Super Fun Quirk Quiz has the choices "4本", "6本", "8本", "日本", where "日本" looks similar to the previous choices which make sense, but means Japan. Its English version is "4 feet, 6 feet, 8 feet, Defeat".
