Inkwell
Inkwell in the PC release of Mario's Time Machine
First appearance Mario's Time Machine (1993)

The Inkwell is an item in the PC release of Mario's Time Machine. It is the small jar of ink that Charles Dickens uses for his writings. At some point in 1843, as he is writing A Christmas Carol, Bowser travels back in time and steals the Inkwell, then exhibits it in his museum. Without his inkwell, Charles is then completely unable to write. The Inkwell is then taken by Mario from the museum, at which point he travels back in time with it to return it to its rightful owner. As he does not know that the inkwell belongs to Charles, he questions the people within London about it, including Charles's wife, Catherine Dickens. Both Catherine and a nearby banker conclude that it must belong to Charles since he is a writer, and after definitely confirming it, Mario returns it to him. After receiving it, Charles Dickens thanks Mario, as he is now able to continue his stories.
