“You're not out of the woods yet! In fact, you're just entering it when you get to Gloomy Gulch. This spooky area is also haunted by the evil Kremling spirits known as Kloak and Kackle. Even the ropes that once provided a safe way to climb over obstacles are now ghostly and insubstantial.”
Donkey Kong Country 2 manual, page 22

Gloomy Gulch is the fifth area that Diddy and Dixie Kong travel through in their quest to save Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2. It is a dark, dilapidated town[1] covered in fog, inhabited by a large number of ghosts such as Kloaks, and surrounded by spooky woods. A haunted house filled with skeletal Kremling ghosts called Kackles is nestled in a clearing near the start of this area, and a small Zinger hive is also located nearby. Since the area is so high up on Crocodile Isle it has severe gusts of wind that can blow around even monkeys. Compared to the areas that came before it (Krem Quay and Krazy Kremland) Gloomy Gulch is actually quite small. At the end of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, Gloomy Gulch, along with the rest of Crocodile Isle, sinks into the sea.

In Donkey Kong Land 2, Klubba's Kiosk is located left of Gloomy Gulch on the game's overworld map.
