Template:Minigame-infobox Funky Boxing is a downloadable Big Name Game microgame in WarioWare: D.I.Y.. It is an homage to Punch-Out!!. It was distributed to North American players on May 24, 2010, and was made by Chris Slate, editor of the magazine Nintendo Power.

Gameplay

The point of game is to defeat Big Bruiser, the champion of the ULTNPWVGBC (Unnecessarily Long-Titled Nintendo Power World Video Game Boxing Circuit)[1]. The player will need to tap the screen to make the boxer hit the champ's face 3 times without touching his glove and get a chance to punch him. If the boxer succeeds on hitting the champ's face 3 times, the game is won. However, if the boxer touches the champ's gloves, the game is lost.

Trivia

  • The audience in this microgame are the staff from the Nintendo Power team, who later appeared in Power Surge.
  • The name of the game was originally going to be "Nester's Funky Boxing", referencing and starring the early Nintendo Power mascot, Nester. However, this changed when the creator, Chris Slate, "couldn't get the hair to look right."
