“Hey! After burning, I have to freeze?!! Aaah! What’s going on with this game?! Is this some kind of cruel experiment? Anyone else would’ve given up by now!!”

Frozen Wario[1], also known as Ice Skatin' Wario[2] (or Ice-skating Wario[3]) and Freeze Wario[4], is one of Wario's many transformations in the Wario Land series of games. When in contact with the breath of a Yukimaru, Brrr Bear, or Yeti, or the icy Flimflam's flames, Wario immediately becomes frozen solid and sent skimming backwards, until he hits a wall. Although a usual inconvenience, he can slide through spikes and other obstacles. In Wario Land 3, the form is specifically necessary for getting past a Prince Froggy in A Town in Chaos. In Wario Land 4, the transformation is mainly of little use to the player and it is used more as a form of annoyance, or to waste time when the switch is hit. They are mainly seen in the levels 40 Below Fridge and Fiery Cavern. Unlike his other transformations, Frozen Wario cannot be controlled.

Trivia

  • The Wario Land 3 instruction booklet and Japanese website lists Ice Skatin' Wario as a new reaction, when it was previously seen in Wario Land II. However, this may be because it did not have artwork or was unnamed in Wario Land II.
