Template:Minigame-infobox Frozen Assets is a Duel minigame that is found in Mario Party 8. The term "frozen assets" originally refers to when someone is prevented from selling their property to make money.

Introduction

The player slides in the snow tunnel fast, when the player pops out from the snow tunnel; so does the other player the player is battling with. Both players are apparently in a snow cave with a large Freezie behind the players. The Freezie moves up from the ground and then it pounds the ground. The players are surprised that the first two ice pillars fall down into the ground as the place rumbles. Then the minigame begins to start.

Gameplay

The players attempt to find crystals by breaking the ice pillars that fall to the ground.

To break the ice pillar, the players can simply punch it. Additionally, the players can also Ground Pound the ice pillar to break it, but this takes some time. The players actually have to find five crystals from the ice pillars. The status bar indicates that there are 5 bars for each player. When there are no more ice pillars; the Freezie drops more ice pillars by pounding the ground after rising up as the place rumbles. Additionally, ice pillars can contain a crystal or just nothing. Players can also attack each other by simply punching or use the Ground Pound to stun each other for a moment. Once the player is stunned, the player temporary has a block to any attacks for a while.

The player who grabs five crystals first wins. If both players manage to grab five crystals or five minutes pass without anyone grabbing five crystals, the minigame ends in a tie.

The winning player stands on the play-field while the Freezie lifts from the ground and pounds the ground. Instead of bringing ordinary ice pillars onto the ground; a bigger ice pillar falls down hard into the ground. The large ice pillar contains the losing player; frozen in there. The winning player then does a winning pose. However, if both players grab five crystals or if five minutes pass, the players do their losing animations as "Tie" appears on the screen.
