Template:Minigame-infobox Flagging Rights is an extra minigame featured in the Extras Zone in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on the phrase "bragging rights". The gameplay and appearance of this minigame are very similar to those of Shy Guy Says from Mario Party, but with only 1 or 2 players.

Introduction

The scene moves in on the player, on a ship, along with a Shy Guy wearing a pirate hat. They are both wielding red and white flags.

Gameplay

The gameplay is fairly predictable: The player in plank must raise the flag the Shy Guy commands for as long as they can. If the player misses even one flag, the game will end. Sometimes the Shy Guy will fake the player out, by raising one flag slightly, but then raising another, or both flags. In multiplayer mode, the game ends when one or both players miss.

Controls

This is the only Mario Party 8 minigame to make use of the Nunchuk controller. The Wii Remote is held on the right side, and the Nunchuk is held on the left. When the Shy Guy raises the red flag, the player must raise the Wii Remote. If the Shy Guy raises the white flag, the player raises the Nunchuk. If he raises both, the player must raise both.

Ending

When the player gets a flag wrong, a different Shy Guy on the ship will cut the rope on the plank the character is standing on, making them fall into the ocean. The Shy Guy will then wave at them, tauntingly. If there are two players and one loses, the winning player will do a victory pose. If both players lose, both will be on the water, in a situation, "Tie" appears on the screen, but no music will play.
