Figure Skating (Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games for Wii)
Template:Event-infobox Figure Skating is an Event that appears in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. The objective of the event is to score as many points as possible, with the event taking place in the Pacific Coliseum. Peach and Amy appear taking place in this event in the game's opening, and the starting record for this event is held by Peach with a score of 96.200 pt(s).
Gameplay
In this event, the player starts by selecting one of the six pieces of music to perform their routine to, each of which have a different number and type of moves. To start their routine, he player must swing down the Wii Remote when the character has assumed their starting position. Once the event has started, the character will skate around the rink automatically, and the player must perform inputs to perform various moves. Most moves are performed when the character passes over an Element Point, but the player can also perform some smaller low-scoring tricks by moving the Wii remote in time with the music while the character is on longer sections without Element Points. The event features several different types of Element Points, which each have a different move associated with them. Yellow hexagonal Element Points are for steps, which are performed by swinging the Wii Remote either up or down, as indicated onscreen as the character approaches. Red star-shaped Element Points are for jumps, which are performed by swinging the Wii Remote upwards. Some jumps will also have a red trail leading up to them, during which the player must move the Wii Remote in the shape shown onscreen to be able to perform jumps. If the player manages to make multiple inputs, they can perform multiple jumps, however failing to do any will mean that the character ails their jump. For these moves, the player receives a rating and varying numbers of points depending on how well-timed their move was, with better timing awarding more points. Green circular Element Points are for twirls, which are performed by spinning the Wii Remote in a circle as quickly as possible, with the better ratings and scores being awarded for spinning the Wii Remote more times. Blue square Element Points followed by pink trails are for spirals, which are performed by balancing the character by holding the Wii remote steadily upright, and tilting to the side if the character begins to overbalance. More points and better ratings are warded for this move when the character manages to stay balanced for a longer amount of time. The player can also perform an additional finishing pose move after their last twirl by moving their Wii Remote to the position indicated onscreen when the countdown finishes. The character with the most points after completing their routine wins.

Instructions
Rules
- In Figure Skating, players follow the music and compete for the highest scoring performance.
- The rink is dotted with Element Points, where players can follow instructions to perform a variety of actions!
Controls
- Shake the Wii Remote once your character takes up their starting pose to begin.
- The yellow Element Point is a step. Follow the instructions with well-timed upward or downward swings of the Wii Remote.
- The green Element Point is a spin. Twirl the Wii Remote to perform a spin.
- The red star Element Point is a jump. Swing the Wii Remote upward at the right time to jump!
- Some red star Element Points have lines leading up to them.
- Skate along the red line to build jump power. When you approach a red line, commands will be displayed.
- Follow those commands with the Wii Remote to add to the number of jumps you'll perform.
- Skate along the purple line to perform a spiral. Hold the Wii Remote vertically and tilt it left or right to maintain balance.
- Finally, follow the instructions to perform a finishing pose!
Tips
- The point in Figure Skating is to perform in time with the music. Be sure to listen closely!
- Element Points aren't everything--wave the Wii Remote like a conductor's baton in time with the music between tricks to max out your score!
