Super Mario Land 4 (Mario-related media, 1990)
Member of Reticulon Army

Epikhan[1] is the first boss of Solar Striker that Mario faces in the game adaptation in the Super Mario Land 4 manga. It is a square fighter ship of the Reticulon Army with two long side cannons. In the manga, one of Reticulon's hawk people is seen piloting the ship. While the instruction manual seems to suggest that Epikhan is the name of the ship, in the manga is the pilot to have this name.

On his way to attack Reticulon on the SolarStriker, Mario is asked to insert a floppy disk he does not have that would activate the weapon system. Without it, Mario just dodges the incoming enemies, but he is stopped by Epikhan that shoots him down, forcing him to make an emergency landing on the Moon, where he retrieves the floppy disk and activates the weapons. After grabbing some power up items, Mario's Turbo Missiles destroys Epikhan, and then proceeds to enter the planet's atmosphere.
