Dr. Wright is a character exclusive to the SNES version of SimCity. He is loosely based off of Will Wright, the original designer for the SimCity series. In the game, he serves as an adviser to the player. Following his SimCity debut, he made an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a collectible trophy, and then went on to be an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. In both of his appearances as an Assist Trophy, his attack is the same. Once spawned on stage, using his pointer stick, he pulls out a skyscraper from the ground, attacking any enemy players it touches. The city he summons varies in size and power.

The assistant to the mayor of SimCity, Dr. Wright was actually named after the creator of the game. As a player, you'd have to use your wisdom and experience to give timely advice to the mayor; if you did a good job, the city prospered. Dr. Wright is one of the leaders in the all-time, bizarre Nintendo-game-hairstyle contest.
