Template:Worldbox Cotton Top Cove (originally spelled as Cotton-Top Cove in the SNES release) is the third world of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, but can also be accessed as the fourth world (and vice-versa for Mekanos). The world is filled with lakes and waterfalls and features the most water-themed levels of the other worlds (except Pacifica in the Game Boy Advance version).

The manual for Donkey Kong Country 3 describes Cotton Top Cove as the Northern Kremisphere's best vacation spot because of the scenery. Due to the large amount of water in the area, several of Cotton Top Cove's areas are located underwater among the fish and coral reefs. However, Kremling remnants led by KAOS chased all tourists away.[1]

Among the waterfalls of Cotton Top Cove, various critters such as Bristles and Krumples roam. Near the waterfalls are various stair-like protrusions in the cliff face. A large lake and a long boardwalk are atop the waterfall. The Swanky's Sideshow tent (or Swanky's Dash in the Game Boy Advance remake) is set up near the lake.

Blue's Beach Hut is the Brothers Bear location of Cotton Top Cove, located at the start. The secret cave is Bounty Bay, which is near the first level and to the right of the westernmost waterfall. Dixie and Kiddy can swim in a body of water to access the hidden secret cave from the world map, much like that of Lake Orangatanga. Squirt is the world boss, and its domain is on the east side of Cotton Top Cove, behind a waterfall. The Kongs must swim in another body of water to access the last regular level and to go on a short path leading to Squirt.

Levels

Level Description
Bazza's Blockade
Bazza's Blockade
Much of the level takes place underwater, where large amounts of Bazzas emerge indefinitely from small caves. Coming into contact with one defeats a Kong, forcing them to swim quickly as well as in succession.
Rocket Barrel Ride.png
Rocket Barrel Ride
This level takes place near a waterfall. Much of the level involves the Kongs using Blast Barrels with fair timing to reach the End of Level Flag.
Kreeping Klasps.png
Kreeping Klasps
This is a boardwalk level featuring a swimming enemy, Nibbla, who awaits the Kongs falling into the water to their deaths. As such, they must use ropes to get across the water safely. However, Klasps also appear on the ropes and chase them.
Kiddy Kong jumping into a Tracker Barrel in the level Tracker Barrel Trek from Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!
Tracker Barrel Trek
This level takes place at a waterfall where Tracker Barrels go from left to right, corresponding with the player's control, and track where the Kongs fall to launch them again. Various Buzzes in the way hinder progress.
Fish Food Frenzy
Fish Food Frenzy
A seemingly friendly Nibbla appears behind Dixie and Kiddy at the start and follows them. Whenever it goes near a Koco, it stays blue and calm. However, if it is not fed, or if it is fed a Lurchin, it becomes red and hungry over time until it bites both Kongs.
Ellie fights Squirt in Donkey Kong Country 3.
Boss level: Squirt's Showdown
The boss level of Cotton Top Cove. Upon starting the level, the Kongs are turned into Ellie. Squirt, the boss, emerges from a waterfall and squirts water in a circle, usually supporting the strength to push Ellie off the platform. To attack it, Ellie must absorb water from the waterfall, aim upward, and shoot water into Squirt's eyes. As the battle progresses, Squirt's attack pattern becomes quicker with stronger waves shooting out of its mouth.
