- —Wario, Wario Land II
Cooks,[1] also referred to as Syrup chefs,[2] are enemies featured in Wario Land II. They are small, pink moles wearing a white chef hat and white apron. Cooks walk around certain levels carrying pieces of cake on long forks, most commonly appearing in indoor areas. If Wario goes too close to a Cook, it throws its cake and runs away. However, if Wario touches the cake, he will immediately eat it and become Fat Wario, which can be either a hindrance or a necessity for completing the level, depending on the situation.
Derived enemies known as Doughnuteers appeared in Wario Land 3. They behave nearly identically, but look different, noticeably wearing pants in favor of toques, throw doughnuts rather than cake, and do not pause as long. They share their status as a source of the Fat Wario form with Applebies in Wario Land 3, and were replaced by the similar Ringosukī in Wario Land 4.
