A Chomp Bro without his Chain Chomp.

The Chomp Bro is a large, muscular version of Hammer Bros. wielding a Chain Chomp as a weapon. They are encountered in Bowser's Castle in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. They attack by throwing their Chain Chomps at either Mario or Luigi. During a battle, if the Chomp Bro spins its Chain Chomp clockwise, it will be thrown at Mario; if counter-clockwise, it is targeting Luigi. The number of times they spin around determines how fast the attack will be. If Mario or Luigi jump on the Chain Chomp when it is thrown, it will fall off the screen, leaving the Chomp Bro defenseless. Sometimes, Chomp Bros. will run away from the battle when they are unaccompanied by a Chain Chomp. At other times, they might actually get the Chain Chomp back, and the entire process restarts. Also, they are healed by fire and are weak to thunder.

Chomp Bros. are likely based on hammer throw athletes, due to their muscular appearance and how they throw their Chain Chomps, which resemble the balls used in the hammer throw.
