A Chain-Link in Super Mario 3D World.

Chain-Links (parsed Chain Links in the Prima guide[1] and Chainlinks in the PAL release) are level structures and obstacles that appear in Super Mario 3D World. They appear in several stages and as either stationary walls or platforms or moving along tracks as obstacles. They resemble Fences, which first appeared in Super Mario World; however, they cannot be climbed on unless the character assumes the Cat form and can simply be used to wall jump.

Chain-Links with platforms on top of them appear in Super Mario Maker 2 in the Super Mario 3D World style as a type of Semisolid Platform in the forest theme, which Cat Mario can climb up.[2]
