Body Check is an ability used by Bowser, Toad, Wario, Birdo, Bowser Jr., Petey Piranha, and Hammer Bro in Mario Superstar Baseball, and it can be used by anyone in Mario Super Sluggers except Blooper, Boo, King Boo, Dry Bones, and Monty Mole, who have their own close-play abilities. In Mario Superstar Baseball, by rapidly pressing 
, the runner can tackle a baseman, knocking the ball out of his or her hands, which makes the user safe. In Mario Super Sluggers, however, it is an automatic action that occurs if the runner succeeds in a close play by pressing the correct button first.
