Black Ice Blitz
Template:Levelbox Black Ice Blitz is the tenth level of Donkey Kong Land III and the fourth level in Primate Plains, where it is located in the northern region. It is the first snow-themed level of the game.
Black Ice Blitz is very similar to Tearaway Toboggan of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!, and is essentially a shortened version of the level. Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong ride a Toboggan through a series of snowy plateaus, jumping over pits and chasms. There are a couple of snow-capped chalets that can be used for platforms. Through most of the level, the Kongs must exercise proper timing, as they can easily crash into obstacles or enemies. There are Skiddas, Krimps and Knik-Knaks featured in the level, which can easily be defeated with the Toboggan. There are also Buzzes, but they cannot be defeated from the toboggan unlike in Donkey Kong Country 3.
Overview
At the beginning of the level, the heroes immediately end up in a few Blast Barrels that fire them into a toboggan. The toboggan begins to move upon being entered and pull the Kongs into a house. The monkeys must act fast and jump over the house, grabbing the letter K. After this, the heroes need to cross a few small abysses. Jumping at the wrong time in an area like this, and the Kongs might land right into a pit. If they get through this area, though, the monkeys enter a more flattened area, where they need to defeat some Krimps with the heavy toboggan. At some point, the group have to cross a few more pits while watching out for Buzzes. If they get through this part of the level, they eventually reach a small slope. The monkeys need to jump at the top of it to collect the letter O. After riding up and down a few more slopes and hopping over some enemies, the heroes make it to the Star Barrel.
About halfway through the level, the group ride along a straight path and travel past a house to land into a low area of land. There, they get the letter N, and then have to jump out of the area quickly to avoid hitting into the wall. After this, the apes ride down a large slope and have to jump over a small gap. Afterwards, they find a few Knik-Knaks to bounce on. If they can bounce off of the bugs correctly, they land over the few walls of snow. Once this is all done, the heroes need to dodge a few Buzzes on the path and ride around a few slopes under a Buzz. After passing a Skidda from there, Dixie and Kiddy ride up a pyramid shaped slope and find the letter G. Shortly after, they ride up another large slope to find a sign. When they pass this sign, the toboggan disappears. Farther on, the Kongs, now on foot, find the Level Flag.

Collect the Stars! The first Bonus Barrel is located down a pit right after the letter G. The Kongs can either ride the toboggan into the pit or backtrack to the location on foot. The Bonus Area's objective is for the Kongs to collect all 18 stars within ten seconds, while riding in a toboggan. The Bonus Area has a Buzz and two Krimps, both of which the Kongs must avoid crashing into. To add to the challenge, the toboggan moves fast, and the Kongs cannot backtrack to obtain any stars they have missed. After obtaining all 18 stars, a Bonus Coin appears at the end. |
| Find the Token! At the end of the level, the Kongs must skip across the Level Flag. The second Bonus Barrel is hidden on a plateau at the very end, indicated by a lone banana in the air. In this Bonus Area, the Kongs have 14 seconds to find the Bonus Coin. Here, the Kongs need to pass a few chalets and jump into a Barrel Cannon located above the third one. The Kongs are fired through a series of Barrel Cannons, which leads them to the Bonus Coin, located at the top-left corner, directly above the starting point. |

At the end of the level, the Kongs must skip over the Level Flag, and a bottom-right facing Barrel Cannon blasts them into a ditch with the level's Koin. The Kongs can pick up a Steel Keg from a plateau on the right and throw it behind Koin. The Steel Keg rolls off from the left wall and rolls behind into Koin, who relinquishes his DK Coin. Alternatively, the Kongs can throw the Steel Keg from the other direction and have it bump into Koin from the right-side wall. |
