Template:Species-infobox Big Wigglers[1] (also known as Giant Wigglers[citation needed]) are a type of Wiggler that first appeared in New Super Mario Bros.. They are bigger than a normal Wiggler, but they are not bigger than Super Mario Sunshine's Wiggler, and live in jungles near Poison Water.

History

Super Mario series

In New Super Mario Bros., a Big Wiggler appeared in World 7-3. Mario or Luigi has to ride on the Big Wiggler through the entire level while avoiding enemies and obstacles. This Big Wiggler is even larger than average Big Wigglers and is made of a total of twenty-nine segments, including the head.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii

In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, despite being enemies, Big Wigglers can help Mario get items normally out of his reach. For this, the players must jump over a Big Wiggler and press the Two Button or A Button button to do a high jump, as if they were using a Spring.

Big Wigglers can hurt Mario by running into him while on their preset paths. They can also defeat Swoops, along with most other enemies upon making direct contact. Also, they don't get angry if Mario jumps atop them, unlike normal Wigglers.

It should also be noted that the Big Wiggler is one of the very few enemies that cannot be defeated by any means, and they can push Mario around, even when he's under the effects of the Super Star. They can only be defeated by reaching the flag at the end of the level, just like King Bills.

Big Wigglers reappear in Super Mario Galaxy 2 in the Supermassive Galaxy. They appear on the Stone Tube Planet, where Mario must avoid running into them to reach the Power Star. A pair of angry Big Wigglers circle the tube towards the end. They can't be defeated, but the Co-Star Luma is able to stop them from moving and hurting Mario.

New Super Mario Bros. U

Big Wigglers return in New Super Mario Bros. U, having the same role as in the predecessors. They are found in Soda Jungle, and appear in Wiggler Stampede.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS

Big Wigglers reappear in Super Mario Maker and Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, where giving a Wiggler a Super Mushroom will increase it in size, effectively turning it into a Big Wiggler. Big Wigglers appear in all styles. Unlike in New Super Mario Bros. U, they appear slightly smaller and have the same behavior as regular Wigglers as they can become angry and can be defeated.

Mario Kart series

Big Wigglers make their first Mario Kart appearance in Mario Kart Wii in Maple Treeway. If a driver bumps into them, their kart will be pushed back. Maple Treeway makes a reappearance in Mario Kart 7, and so do the Big Wigglers.
