“You are too generous, Kongs. Here, have this Bananus Goldus Flutterus. Err uh.. I meant Banana Bird!”
Bramble, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

Banana Birds (scientific name according to Bramble: Bananus Goldus Flutterus) are birds that are made out of partially peeled bananas. They are the children of the Queen Banana Bird.

History

Donkey Kong Country 3

Banana Birds make their first and main appearance in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. They have an essential role, and are bought from a few of the Brothers Bear and won from Swanky Kong and Funky Kong, among others. They are principally found, though, in secret caves in the Northern Kremisphere, where a memory game with four colored crystals is played to obtain a bird and free it from its crystal prison.

All except three could be found using Funky's ordinary rental vehicles, but to get the last three and to get the final score of 103%, Kiddy and Dixie Kong must obtain every DK Coin from the Kremling enemy Koin in each level, give them to Funky, and obtain the Gyrocopter. With this new vehicle, they are able to access the last three caves and give all the Banana Birds to Wrinkly Kong. When Kiddy and Dixie visit Wrinkly after collecting all the Birds, they are delivered to their mother, the Banana Bird Queen, living in the clouds. It is revealed that Baron K. Roolenstein had cursed them, causing the babies to be imprisioned in crystal and the mother in a huge stone contraption. Once they reunited, however, their singing breaks the spell. The mother then chases K. Rool down as he tries to escape on his Hover Craft, but she soon overtakes him and drops a huge egg upon him, fulfilling the game's true ending.

Donkey Konga

Banana Birds appear in a "Street Performance" mode of Donkey Konga

In Donkey Konga, many Banana Birds hop around the lower part of the screen while Donkey Kong plays a song. They only act as scenery and have no in-game effect. Banana Birds appear in every musical performance mode ("Street Performance", "Challenge", and "Jam Session"). Only a few hop around the screen in "Jam Session".

Banana Birds are not featured in multiplayer mode, as the bottom portion is reserved for the second player (Diddy Kong).

Banana Bird locations

There are also five more Banana Birds that were added to the Game Boy Advance remake.

Additionally, K's Kache has been relocated to a clifftop in the Northwest section of the Northern Kremisphere, as the Turbo Ski is capable of reaching the northwest lake in the Game Boy Advance remake.
