Template:Event-infobox Archery is the only "Archery" event in the game Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. In order to win, the player has to score the most points. This is done by shooting four sets of three arrows into a target at 70 meters, aiming for the center circle for maximum score. Skill players are the best at this event.

Wii Version

Archery as seen in the Wii version.

Archery uses the Wii Remote and Nunchuk together, and is not compatible with the Wii Remote only. This event stays true to the way it is played in real life. When the event starts, the player has to hold the A Button and B Button Buttons together, and pull the Wii Remote back. This will prepare the arrow, as the player begins aiming with the Nunchuk Control Stick. The Nunchuk Control Stick forms a cursor on screen, and the player has to move this cursor to a spot on the target. To aim, the player has to tilt the Nunchuk Control Stick in any direction, rather than actually shaking it around. Once the player has the perfect aim, align the Wii Remote crosshair with it, and then let go of the A Button and B Button buttons. This will release the arrow, firing it at the target. However, the player also has to focus on the wind whilst firing. The wind will blow in any of the eight directions, and its force can blow from 0-9 meters. If the player constantly aims at the middle of the target while the wind is blowing, it will blow away from the center. If the arrow misses the target, no points will be earned.

DS Version

For the DS version, the Stylus is used in this event. To pull the arrow back, just pull the Stylus down on the screen to begin the aiming procedure. Then, use the Stylus to aim at the target. Again, watch for the wind as the player aims for the target. When the cursor matches with the aiming marker, release the Stylus and watch the arrow fly to the target, scoring 0-10 points for the player.

Missions

Nintendo DS

Bowser

For this mission, Bowser has to get ten points by hitting the target in the very center and he has to do it three times all in a row or else he will fail. It is Bowser's fourth mission. There is no wind so the shot is all about the player's aim.

Luigi

This is Luigi's third mission, it is not like conventional archery. To win this mission, Luigi must hit the black rings in the air, then the blue rings and then the red rings in exactly that order. There is a small amount of wind blowing his arrows but not much.

Tails

This is Miles "Tails" Prower' fourth event and it is pretty much the same as Bowser's fourth event. To win he must hit the center of the target only once this time but there is another twist, the wind conditions are very fierce. Tails must hit the center of the target under fierce wind conditions.

Wii

Peach

Peach's fifth mission in the Wii version is archery. She has to hit the six point area of the target, that is all. The wind is regular and the target stays still. All she has to do is aim and fire straight into the six area of the target in two tries.

Tails

In the Wii version, Miles "Tails" Prower' mission is pretty much the same as in the DS version. It is his sixth and final mission and therefore his hardest. To win, Tails must shoot an arrow into the two point area right at the side of the target. If he misses once he does not get another try, there is only one try. The wind conditions are extremely violent so Tails must use the wind to his advantage.

Dr. Eggman

Dr. Eggman's first mission is archery, in it he must hit the nine-point area of the target. He has three tries to do this and the wind conditions are weak to non-existent. It is his easiest mission.

Description

  • Shoot four sets of three arrows into a target at 70 meters, aiming for the center circle for maximum score. The player with the highest total score wins. Watch wind conditions carefully, as they can make your aim less predictable.
