100m Freestyle is a Aquatics Event that appears in the Wii version of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. The objective of the event is to score the most points, with the event taking place in the Aquatics Centre. Amy can be seen competing in this event in the game's opening. The starting Olympic record in this event is held by Daisy at 47.050 seconds.

During London Party mode, when the player faces off Birdo for the first time, they compete in this sport.

Gameplay

This events starts with the players' characters being announced, before showing character on the starting platform. It then shows how to swim with the character. This is dependent on the character the player choose. Before the race starts, the player is able to hold B Button to charge up and get a short boost. When the word "Go" appears on screen, the player must swing down the Wii remote to start the event. Doing so with perfect timing grants the player a starting dash. The player then needs to swing the Wii Remote (and Nunchuck) as shown to swim, but not too fast, or the character overheats and stops in place. Each character has a specific stroke with a different swinging motion:

Once the player gets to the other side, the character bounces off the wall. Swing down the Wii Remote allows the player to keep some speed, while doing it with perfect timing does it the best. At any time, the player can press A Button to do a Special Stroke. When the character reaches near the start platform, the player can press B Button to stretch out the character's hands. Once the character touches the platform, their time is recorded.
