Template:Event-infobox 100m is an event in the Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. It is set at the Joao Havelange Olympic Stadium (now the Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium). The objective is to race to the finish against eight other opponents and to get first place. The event's guest star is Nabbit.

Gameplay

In this event the player races against eight other opponents. At the start of the event the player can rapidly tap B Button or One Button to build up power. When this happens an aura surrounds the player which turns from blue to yellow to red the more the player taps B Button or One Button. Once the announcer says "Go!" the player can press A Button or Two Button to start and continue running. If the player successfully built up power they will get a speed boost depending on how much power they built up. If the player does not press A Button or Two Button they will start running automatically at a slow pace. If the player presses A Button or Two Button before the announcer says "Go!" they will not receive a speed boost and stumble before starting the race. While running if the player continues to press A Button or Two Button they will build up power, making an aura surround the player which turns from blue to yellow to red the more the player builds up power. When the aura turns red the player can activate their Super Dash by pressing B Button or One Button. This will dash the player forward. Once the player crosses the finish line the race ends. The order of who crossed the finish line determines the ranking of each player.
