100m is an Athletics Event in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The objective of the event is to reach the finish line in the fastest time, with the event taking place in the Olympic Stadium. Bowser, Daisy, Yoshi, Mario, Sonic, Blaze, Vector, and Amy can be seen taking part in this event in the game's opening. The starting Olympic record is 9.63 seconds.
Gameplay[edit]
The event starts with the characters stretching in preparation for the event before they crouch down on the starting blocks. When "READY" appears, the player can hold down the 
or 
button to charge power to allow them to perform a faster start. When "GO" appears, the player can press 
to push off from the starting blocks, with good timing triggering a speed boost. However, pressing too early causes a delayed start. To speed up, the player must rapidly press , and when prompted, they can use their super dash by pressing for a short speed boost. Several Toads and a Chao appear as referees at intervals along the track.
