Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster course preps
Below are sections dedicated to various Mario Kart courses that may appear in future waves of the Booster Course Pass DLC, to give examples of how they'll look when their respective courses are released.
Note: these are based on predictions and estimates, they will be modified to remove any inaccurate information if they are copy/pasted onto their respective courses articles when the wave is shown off, and released.
Tour London Loop
London Loop appears in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of the third wave of the Booster Course Pass downloadable content. It is the first course of the Rock Cup. It has received significant visual upgrades compared to its appearance in Mario Kart Tour. Additionally, the course's music has been fitted with much more percussion compared to the original.
This iteration of the course is a combined and expanded version of the three routes from Mario Kart Tour, with a lap being dedicated to each route. Racers begin on Westminster Bridge by Big Ben, before taking the first London Loop route for Lap 1. There are almost no modifications made to the route's layout, with the exception of a new fork in the road, where racers can opt to drive on a road to the right of Leadenhall Market, instead of driving through it. Lap 2 takes racers round London Loop 2, which takes racers round Buckingham Palace, the British Museum and the bridge next to the London Eye. Lap 3 is ____.
Like the rest of the third wave, a snippet of London Loop's music was found in the game's files in v2.1.0, when Wave 2's content was added. This course being positioned in the Rock Cup may be a reference to the course's music, which is based on British rock music from the 1960s and 1970s. It is also one of two courses in the third wave to utilize rock music for its theme, alongside 3DS Rock Rock Mountain. Both of these courses are in the Rock Cup.
London Loop is one of three Mario Kart Tour courses in the wave overall, alongside Tour Berlin Byways and Merry Mountain. It is the only one that is not in the Moon Cup.
GBA Boo Lake
Boo Lake returns again in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of the Booster Course Pass downloadable content. It appears as the third course of the Rock Cup, and was added in the third wave of the DLC, and was added only a little over a month after its debut in Mario Kart Tour. The course uses its design from Mario Kart Tour, albeit with various visual upgrades. Much of the course is now set in anti-gravity. Boo Lake is the only classic course from Mario Kart: Super Circuit to appear in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that is not the second course in its cup. Like the rest of the third wave, a snippet of Boo Lake's music was found in the game's files in v2.1.0, when Wave 2's content was added.
When the player crosses the finish line to begin the next lap, Lakitu is shown on the left side of the player, holding the lap count signs (when holding the start signal, he’s also shown on the left side of the player).
3DS Alpine Pass
Rock Rock Mountain returns again in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of the Booster Course Pass downloadable content. It appears as the fourth and final course of the Rock Cup, and as such was added in the third wave of the pass. It is based on its design from Mario Kart Tour, only with numerous visual upgrades. The steep slope towards the end of the course is now fitted with anti-gravity.
Rock Rock Mountain is one of two courses to originate from Mario Kart 7 to appear in the third wave of the DLC, alongside 3DS Rainbow Road. Both courses are positioned at the end of their respective cups, and also relate to their cups themes (A rock for Rock Rock Mountain, and a Moon for Rainbow Road).
Tour Berlin Byways
Berlin Byways returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as part of the Booster Course Pass downloadable content. It is the first course of the Moon Cup, and was added in the third wave of the DLC. It has received significant visual upgrades compared to its appearance in Mario Kart Tour. The cars from Berlin Byways 3 return in this version of the course, and follow the same path they did in that route, making this the second course in the pass with traffic, after DS Shroom Ridge.
It is a combined and expanded version of the course's three routes from Mario Kart Tour, and is split into three sections, with each section being dedicated to a different route. Racers begin besides the Berlin Wall, next to the Berlin Cathedral and facing away from the Brandenburg Gate, where they then follow the first Berlin Byways route, racing along the Berlin Wall, driving beneath the Oberbaum Bridge, around the Schiller Monument and into the Tiergarten. However, racers then start the next section on the Straße des 17. Juni through a starting line seen in Berlin Byways 3, before following Berlin Byways 3R briefly. Racers drive towards the Brandenburg Gate but turn left before driving through it, taking them to the Reichstag. When players get to a split in the road, they turn right, and the rest of the section follows Berlin Byways 2. Racers drive through the Berlin Hauptbahnhof and past the New Synagogue, before reaching the final section, through the starting line used at the very beginning of the course. The final section follows Berlin Byways 3 after racers drive through the Brandenburg Gate and glide towards the Berlin Victory Column. Racers drive past landmarks such as the Tempodrom and the Berlin Zoo, before reaching the roundabout again. Racers turn left on the roundabout, then right to pass the Reichstag again. After turning right as they reach the Brandenburg Gate, they reach the finishing line, the same line used in Berlin Byways 3.
Like the rest of the third wave, a snippet of Berlin Byways' music was found in the game's files in v2.1.0, when Wave 2's content was added.
Berlin Byways is one of three Mario Kart Tour courses in the wave overall, alongside Tour London Loop and Merry Mountain.
