Unlike in previous games, Yoshi can pop a Hefty Milde by just stomping on it instead of ground-pounding it, making it burst into six Mildes, more than in previous games. Hefty Mildes, like the other types of Mildes, are very light, as they bounce and move when other Mildes are popped out. When a Milde is launched and touches a Hefty Milde, it will stick to the Hefty Milde. Unlike regular Mildes, and similar to the bigger Mildes, when they come into contact with [[Scatterpuff]]s, these can grow on them. Additionally, if a parasitized creature emerges from a Pink Pool, the resulting Hefty Milde will have Scatterpuffs too. When Yoshi jumps on a parasitized Hefty Milde, it will free the Hefty Milde and the creature inside it from the Scatterpuffs. Contrary to previous appearances, when a Big Milde is popped, it will not split into two Hefty Mildes; instead, it will split into various regular Mildes and a single Hefty Milde.

			In Milde Habitat, there are a total of four discoveries revolving around Hefty Mildes. In the first cave of the habitat, using a Hefty Milde to trap a Croakaoke and reach an upper area allows Yoshi to get access to the first [[Smiley Flower]] in the habitat. In Short-to-Tall Roll Call, Hefty Mildes are positioned between the XS- and S-sized creatures.
